We paid them $14,000 as a deposit, but they never delivered on what turned out to be empty promises. I expect that a reputable builder would refund the deposit if they could not successfully submit plans for permit, but not GJ. The plans we paid them to develop were rejected by the city multiple times over the course of several months. The personnel at the city office said they were truly surprised by the incompetence of this group. In addition, we would go several weeks at a time with phone calls not returned- maybe we shouldn't have been surprised, knowing that Dave P works much of the time from his house in Mexico. Our build was going to cost about $700k not including the land, but they treated us as though we were their very lowest priority (who knows, we probably were). In short- I wish we had used a different builder. We found their promises to be empty, and after 10 months of dealing with them, we had to fire them. Unfortunately that's a lot of wasted time and money. I would highly recommend you consider looking elsewhere and be very leery of anything they say. They seem like nice people, but I doubt they cared at all about us, our family, or building our home.

Then his wonderful crew, led by Ryan, came in and made our home look just right again, right down to carefully matching paint and tarping everything off so carefully to prevent any damage to our possessions. To…read moredo that, the company who performed the installation had to demo all the drywall and framing along the exterior wall, remove tile flooring in a bathroom and a closet, and pull up most of the carpet. In short, they had to nearly un-finish my entire basement. CRBS was one of only a handful of contractors who would even return my request for an estimate, and their bid was the lowest by a few thousand dollars. They repaired the framing, replaced retextured & repainted the drywall, reinstalled what tile they could salvage from the bathroom, then custom-cut/painted new tile to match, completely retiled the closet, stripped & epoxied the laundry room floor, installed new baseboard, restretched the carpet and even did some new electrical work, all while coming in under their estimate. There were only a couple of minor issues with the job, both of which were immediately remedied. They even worked on a weekend to fix one, which I still feel kinda bad about. They were also very flexible in scheduling. An issue with the company installing the gutter resulted in that job getting delayed by a couple of weeks. CRBS was able to accommodate that last-minute change and get me rescheduled within a week. They also put me in touch with a restoration company that helped me unload, store, then replace the contents of my basement. I'd happily use their services again.

I unfortunately contracted with Apex and almost 10 months later I still have an improperly installed roof. A roof has two parts - the underlayment and then the shingles. On my property AND my neighbor's (we share a duplex) the underlayment was not installed to manufacturer's specifications . This decreases the strength and life of the roof. This issue was discussed with Apex Roofing Management but they won't even return phone calls and will not discuss this issue. Furthermore, the roof failed inspection and The Denver Roofing Inspector can't actually see all the issues with a roof installation. Lastly, the mostly unsupervised workers damaged my property. Apex staff twice stated they would come out to fix these issues but, nope, never did. So now I'm left with a improperly installed roof with a significantly decreased life span and decreased strength. Please learn from my dreadful experience with this company.

The first time I had a hidden leak in my garage and they spent about an hour crawling around my roof and inside my garage. Once they identified the problem (which wasn't easy!), they took a bunch of pictures as it wasn't visible, explained the problem AND showed me the issue. They then came out and fixed it the next day for $400 which was a few hours of work with parts (I almost wanted to pay them more as I couldn't believe that is all it was). Fast forward eight months and I had what appeared to be either a roof leak or a window leak. Same experience... they arrived promptly, identified the issue, and fixed it the same day for $300. If you have any sort of roof problems- call these guys! They are timely, very cost effective, and super friendly. I wish all home maintenance companies were this easy to deal with.

The insurance piece was uncharted territory for me and intimidating enough to not move forward with seeking a roof replacement after a large hail storm. That review gave me confidence to proceed and AC Inc definitely proved it right. My project manager stayed consistent and on top of the job from start to finish including holding the insurance company accountable when my insurance tended toward delayed responses or even inaction. I was still traumatized by the fierceness of this storm and the extensive damage to all my new and existing gardens, and vowed not to use any contractor who used these tactics. The phone onslaught continued for weeks, supplemented by my doorbell being run on an almost daily basis. Early on, a friend who knew what I had been through recommended a roofing contractor she had used - Tom Krause at Advanced Construction Roofing (ACR) - and since he was NOT one of the ones who was badgering me, I contacted him to come out and take a look at the damage - but only after I had a chance to come to terms with the emotional aspect of the damage to my property. Tom was prompt and courteous and very respectful of my wishes, and worked with me over the summer to get the most complete compensation from my insurance company and recommend where best to spend that claim money. I ended up with an impact resistant roof, which lowered my insurance costs and increased my property value, and also replaced all of my gutters (instead of the few that the insurance company allowed), for just a very nominal investment on my part. I decided to wait until late fall to actually do the work to minimize the risk of another storm and another claim at my high deductible, and Tom never bothered me about that decision and came out numerous times, and personally oversaw the work, cleanup and inspection that followed. He even went out of his way to replace a screen that was not part of the hail damage that was tricky to fit and required several back and forth trips with the window company. They kept raislong the prices, getting more and more from the insurance company and ultimately the total was three times more than the original estimate. They charged me for things they didn't even do. The ridge was crooked and on a 25 yr old roof, they didn't replace any of the plywood so the rug was wavy. The gutters overflowed with the first rain because they were filled with debris. Ultimately my insurance company paid but then cancelled my policy. ACR is actually in Littleton and not Lodo. Steer clear and save the huge headache. Happy to answer questions but want to save you from the same pain and suffering and terrible news roof that I experienced.
