It's been 6 years since I bought my "Hemingway Briefcase" and 2 years since I bought my 8 year old (then 6), his leather backpack. We both love them immensely, especially the custom initial tags. I also love the top tier quality of the leather and take joy in the consistent compliments I receive in the elevator as I go into the office. I take pride in owning a quality piece from American craftsmen and women.

    Copper River Bags 20" duffle

I don't post reviews on Yelp often (ever?), but I'm writing this review to counter all the negative recent reviews for this company. I ordered a large duffle bag from CRB in early August. It was the fourth bag I've purchased from them in the last few years--the others are all messenger/mail bags in different colors and all very nice. Yes, the order was delayed (I received the bag today, about 6 weeks after ordering). But Marlon at CRB consistently (and promptly) responded to all my inquiries. When I realized a few days ago how long it had been since I'd placed my order and started checking Yelp and BBB reviews for this company, I started freaking out a little bit that I had been scammed and had thrown away $200. I imagined that someone halfway around the world had gotten this company's domain and was taking orders they never intended to fill. I contacted CRB and by the next day the bag was on its way to me. No ghosting, no lying, none of the terrible things other people have reported. So, am I sorry that several other people had a worse experience with CRB than I did? Sure. Do I wish I had gotten my bag with no issues within the 7-14 day window they claim? Of course. But as far as I can tell, Copper River Bags is still a legitimate American-based business (now based in Kentucky, previously in California) handcrafting unique, well-constructed USA-made bags. I'd give them 5 stars if not for the delay.

When the laptop bag I ordered was smaller than I'd anticipated, they gave me full credit towards a larger one (and custom-made a retired product for me).

Some well-known brands. I gotta come back and scoop a leather jacket when the weather cools. This shopping trip I scooped up a fun sheepskin steering wheel cover. My grandma had one when I was young & it was nostalgic finding one for myself. Super soft & keeps my steering wheel from getting too hot to touch in the Summer. Also got the most wonderful smelling candle. I'd say this is one of the better boutiques downtown has to offer. As for service, I was pleasantly helped by a nice Asian employee. Knowledgeable and helpful. The owner (I assume was the older woman) seems a bit more reserved...she shoved my sheepskin into a small bag with my candle. Probably would have been nicer if she could have put tissue around it and given me a bigger bag. You kinda need to be a "people-person" if you're in retail. Just a thought...even so, I'm sure I'll return.

I ended up buying a really nice leather cowboy hat and I bought my wife some nice leather boots. The staff was very friendly and helpful , and we both felt like the quality of the everything in the store made the prices seem fair and reasonable , so we were more than happy with our purchases. The raw food restaurant needs work. The menu is uneven and should be approached conservatively and with reduced expectations. This is not anywhere near San Francisco's Cafe Gratitude. We had a minestrone-like pea soup which was nice and the green salad which came with the signature Strongwich. Both were fresh and good. I particularly appreciated the vibrant salad with its shredded beets and carrots topped with ground black sesame. The signature Strongwich, presented beautifully open-faced in a glowing snow of brewer's yeast, was awful in every other possible way: nearly impossible to eat with one's hands, overly dense, an unpleasant riot of flavors, textures, and densities. Although generally an adventurous eater, this is one of those trips I'd rather not take. They have a curious selection of medicinal teas which are steeped for months. Had I been less put off by the Strongwich one of them might have headed off the upset stomach I had the rest of the day.
