She explained that nine different people own and run sections out of this store, and to come to her or anyone else if we have questions. Books, books, books galore! Not to mention, a fantastic use of so much space. You might not know where some things are, but it makes for a heck of an adventure. They do have some areas marked, such as children's and dvds, but everything else is like looking for treasure within the Cave of Wonders. It smells like old-timey books, and you are immediately transported to another time where life was so much simpler and more beautiful. This was the highlight of my day, and I'd recommend this shop to any book lover stopping by Grass Valley.

They sell fine handmade cards and stationary alongside some of the best current literature. Books run the gamut from NYTimes bestsellers in fiction and nonfiction to local authors and book club favorites. Most titles are thought-provoking and intense sounding and a little on the edge of mainstream notoriety which is great if you're looking to find some new authors or experiment in new genres. But when I visited the small town of Brownsville I was greatly surprised to find a wonderful bookstore called BOOKS AND MORE. And I'll tell you it is MORE. The generous proprietress and her daughter and crew have developed a well thought out, well stocked store. Not just books either- consigned clothing, handbags shoes, gifts, cards, maps,and local information. On the weekends she hosts art workshops, book club and writing groups. She is the hub around which Brownsville rotates and they are so lucky to have her. If you are in the area be sure to stop and buy a book or two and say hello. Ask about local history, you won't be disappointed.
