Girls getaway weekend. We came in for the Appleton Octoberfest. The hotel was on the street that the festival was on. So it was nice not having to drive. Don't worry about noise from the festival Saturday night. The festival ended at 5:30 pm and the city cleaned up the streets so quickly, it didn't even look like anything happened the day before. The staff was so helpful and polite. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Comfortable beds. The workout room and hot tub was great. Parking garage next door. Rates for daily parking & in/out parking. Was a bit of maneuvering with the luggage cart to/from the garage to the hotel via the elevator. They use Uber for the complementary ride to the airport. This is a charming hotel in downtown Appleton that hits the right balance of location (plenty of restaurants, bars, and coffee nearby), room amenities (refrigerator, microwave, fireplace, coffee maker) and service. I arrived in the evening and didn't know my way around the area to find hotel parking. I called and the service staff came out to point me in the right direction - much appreciated. Speaking of parking, the only bummer is that it isn't attached to the hotel. You're parking in a city owned ramp so anyone can park there. I happened to visit during an unexpected "peak" time because the ramp was very full so that made in/out a little less convenient. Daily rate is reasonable at $6 with $10/day if you want multiple in/out access. Rooms are cozy but quite snug IMO. There isn't much moving around room between the fireplace, desk and armchair. Appreciate all these "extras" but it didn't leave much room otherwise. Small touches like luxury robes and suitcase rack were nice. read more

The hotel is nice and clean. This would be a 4 star review but I had the unfortunate luck to stay there during renovations. The 4th floor was the epicenter for the construction and it was very noisy. The water was shut off on day two due to a pipe issue. It was inconvenient; however, the staff was apologetic and they provided a free Uber to the airport. read more

We stayed at the CopperLeaf for 2 nights and really enjoyed our time in Appleton. Located downtown, it was close to many restaurants, bars and across the street from the Performing Arts Center. Check-in was convenient and easy with Eugene who was professional but very friendly and helpful. Our suite was beautiful and very clean. I paid $347 for one night through a third party site, and the water faucet in the bathroom for room 201 did not work. When we called to have it fixed, they said there were no maintenance people in during the weekend. They still booked it for the next day to some other unsuspecting customer. Tried to use the shower to brush my teeth, the housing apparatus fell apart when I touched it. Spent 10 minutes reassembling it...because you know, no maintenance people. Arrived at 2 pm, one hour before 3 pm check in, to an empty lobby. Rooms were available, cost for early check in was still $25 extra. There was no breakfast or coffee, this was a two star hotel at best. Will not trust Priceline rating system, will not come back to a Best Western facility again. read more

I'd say parking was the biggest hassle, as checking in and out were easy. Our room was clean, just smaller than we expected. The mini bar with snacks, food and soda would definitely have come in handy in a pinch, and the price list was decent. Having a restaurant/bar on site was also a big perk over other hotels in town. I think the biggest draw for us was CopperLeaf's downtown location, as there were so many things within walking distance. read more

I booked a room for last Friday- hoping to have a romantic getaway. Unfortunately, my other half was super sick and we couldn't go. I called the hotel Friday morning and asked if I could change the day due to illness. I was out on hold as they asked the manager and I was told no, that there were no changes allowed. I called customer service for best western- they called this hotel and were given the same answer. I travel a lot for a living and I will not stay here. I would not recommend staying here unless you plan to travel when I'll. I was charged $221 for a room I never used. Poor customer service and no empathy. Stay elsewhere read more

My favorite hotel stop when I travel. There's nothing cookie cutter about it and you can get a room with a fantastic jetted tub. The suites have a fireplace (electric) perfect for cold Wisconsin winters. The fireplace will heat your room up in about 30 seconds. The rooms have an impressively stocked minibar (something for every taste) plus your basic pop to make a mixer. There is an adjacent parking garage, which you will have to walk briefly outside to get to. Not so fun dragging a suitcase through snow in winter but at least your car is covered. The adjacent restaurant Rye is top notch. Make reservations unless you just want a bar seat. read more

Absolutely love the CopperLeaf! It's been holding down the best downtown Appleton accommodations for over a decade. Rooms are always clean and well furnished with friendly staff. The hotel is often pricier than others in the area but the premium is usually worth it. It is also pet friendly. If timing permits, check out their spa and hotel bar. I had an extremely pleasant stay at the CopperLeaf. I booked here as I was in town for a wedding and this was listed as the suggested hotel for guests. The emails I received previous to my arrival were very informative and especially helpful with the parking situation. Upon arrival I was greeted with a friendly welcome from the staff and had a quick and detailed check-in. The room was very clean, as was the hotel in general. The beds also had some of the softest sheets and bedding I have ever experienced in a hotel. I did not have the opportunity to eat at Rye, however my friends who stayed with me did and they said the food was great! They made a reservation a head to time to make sure they secured a table as it was a Saturday night. I also appreciated how quiet the hotel was as it made for an excellent night sleep. If you're in the Appleton area for any reason and need a place to stay I would absolutely suggest staying at The CopperLeaf. read more

I loved this hotel. The bathrooms were setup for women with lighted magnified mirrors, makeup towel (always hate getting my makeup on the white towels) and makeup towelettes. Also full mini-bar with snacks. Reception was super friendly and oh by the way...a great restaurant is within the hotel. The Rye restaurant is just off the lobby which is super convenient and has great food. The road noise can be a little loud on a Saturday night and pregame Packers night, but subsides. We've been recommended to stay here by several people for special occasions over the years. I was excited to stay the night while on vacation as I've since moved out of state. I do feel the prices are high for what you get. Of the three hotels we stayed in while in Wisconsin, this one had by far the smallest room, no breakfast, and no provided parking voucher. I use a cane due to an ankle sprain and the clearance between the bed and fireplace, and the space in the entryway was quite narrow and a trip hazard. I ended up banging my leg into the stool near the room door, which was inconveniently placed on the way to the bathroom. The room was pitch black during the night which is a pro and a con. Perhaps having a nightlight option would be helpful. The walls were paper thin. Extremely. There was a lady this morning on her cell phone in the room next to us, talking in a completely normal voice, and we could make out every single word she said and most of what the guy on the receiving end was saying. This was at 6:53am and she spoke with him for 49 minutes. As you might guess, I could not get back to sleep. There was also construction going on outside during the day. I understand CopperLeaf has no control over construction noise but it made the stay less desirable, especially because they started their work before 7:30am. We could hear additional street noise, hotel room doors opening and closing, the locking/unlocking of hotel doors, toilets flushing, people walking in the halls, and minor conversations. The location within the city is really great. And the reason I'm supposing why the nightly rates might be elevated. I found it interesting that nightly rates go up if more than one adult is staying in the room, even though you're already paying for the room and the bed sleeps two. We were initially very happy to have a fireplace in the room but disheartened to discover it provided no heating ability and us literally just for show. It is also massive and the proportions seem odd. The room was clean and wasn't missing any of the basic necessities. Our view faced west, toward the performing arts center, but realistically showed the neighboring building and the parking garage. We did not make it to Rye or the whirlpool but I was happy to know the gym and whirlpool were open 24/7. If it weren't for my bum leg, I would have used those facilities as I work night shift and have some difficulty sleeping during the night. I understand because of the size of this hotel, and it's location, how a swimming pool would not be feasible. Thankful they provided coffee in the AM despite not offering breakfast items without charge. There is a coffee shop s couple of doors down (Copper Rock) which had a great selection of small breakfast items. Guessing people frequently jet over there instead. Parking was conveniently located behind the hotel but not directly connected. The rates were either $4/day or up-charged $7 for the stay. There is a parking area outside the main entrance for loading/unloading which is also convenient. Overall, I can't say whether or not we'd be back. If we were in town specifically for a downtown function, this would be a viable option as it's sometimes all about the location. But I'd otherwise not choose this destination. The longer drive to the Fairfield Inn or any of the other Grand Chute hotels might offer me a better night's sleep. And breakfast. read more

Very nice hotel. It is very clean, the food and wine "bar" in the room isn't over expensive, nice staff and they are even accommodating to the pets guests. Nice little amenities like a cosmetic mirror and packets of cotton wool/swabs. Very nice workout facilities and hot tub, too. The parking isn't great, but it is downtown. Extremely accommodating staff. They allowed me to have an extended stay to 2pm for a very nominal fee. I'll probably book at this hotel again should I need to travel back to the area. read more

Charming hotel located in downtown Appleton! I was a little bit taken back by all the snow on the ground when I arrived but felt comforted as soon as I walked into the CopperLeaf hotel. They have an open lobby and all the individuals that I talked to at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. The room itself was nice, comfortable for a the couple of nights I was there. They had good quality shampoo, conditioner, and lotion available as well. Additionally, we dined at the restaurant downstairs. Their food was good but took a while to get although it wasn't too busy. The service was good; overall a good choice if you don't want to go looking for a restaurant outside (especially when it's cold)! I would recommend this gem if you're looking for a place to stay. read more

Nice decor. Staff is friendly and very helpful. The platinum suites are wonderful! Hint: make your way to the breakfast buffet early or you will miss ouy in the food. This is a wonderful, lovely, and charming hotel. The rooms are as nice as you'll find anywhere, and at a fraction of the price. I've had the pleasure of staying here several times while on business travel, and too bad I couldn't bring someone along because this place could be make-out heaven! AMAZING and super comfortable beds/pillows, large flat screen TV's in both the living room and bedroom, and another TV in the marble-tiled bathroom with jacuzzi bath. It's first class luxury without clearing out your 401k! Cute lobby, nice little bar, and a fine restaurant downstairs. Rustic Ambiance Wonderful Staff Delicious Cookies & Limeade. This is a charming, lovely, rustic in style and hospitality boutique hotel. I was welcomed to a friendly smile and an expeditious check-in; my Front Desk Agent briefed me on the amenities of the hotel, gave me the keys and offered me their most chewy, delicious, chocolaty brownie cookies and Limeade infused with mint! I must admit I am a clean eater and do my best to avoid sugar at all cost but I couldn't help but to treat myself to the most appetizing looking treat especially after a long travel day! (please be sure to have at least one this as well as the fitness center was the best part of my stay!) My room was pretty spacious with a decent view of downtown Appleton (ok it was just a view of the building across the street but hey, nice to look at lol). As I checked out my digs I noticed packets of Germ-X wipes next to my phone and my heart sunk with pleasurable joy! Many times, I've asked myself why hotels don't include these in their rooms because it can become quite tiring, especially as a germ-a-phobe woman such as myself, to use a napkin to pick up, turn off/on and open/close things in these rooms. I wiped down the nobs, toilet handle, sink fixtures, remote control, drawers; pretty much everything then called the front desk to thank them. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets are of a pretty decent thread count, 500+ I would estimate and I slept like a baby. There was a large flat screen HD TV in cased in an armouir. The bathroom was also pretty spacious that included Aveda products, a jar of cotton balls & Q-Tips, plenty of towels, a rob and a large jetted tub. My only issue however was lighting. I love light filled spaces and if it can't be natural light then better bulbs would have done the trick to make it feel a little more open as big as the space was. Internet was free which was awesome since I was on a business trip and needed to stay connected with my HQ and team. Now because I travel doesn't mean my fitness routines are thrown out the door. During my stay I worked out at their 24 hour gym. It was great! The gym was stocked with towels, a water cooler with cups, yoga mats, free weights, a fitness center, two treadmills, one elliptical, a bike and at least a 46" flat screen TV. Everything I needed to keep my cardio and weight training in check! My stay at Cooper Leaf was awesome and I would recommend staying there if you are ever in the area. read more

I would never stay at this disgusting hotel ever again!! I stayed there with my daughters for my daughter's bridal shower/bachelorette weekend and our room had not been cleaned!! The sheets were dirty, there were french fries on the floor, there were 2 wine glasses on the table with dried up red wine residue. My girls and I checked in .. changed our clothes and left again so we hadn't even realized at first how dirty it was. Later in the evening I asked them who had wine and French fries without me and the said they were both wondering the same! At checkout I asked the man at the desk if they keep wine glasses in the rooms and he said not anymore due to Covid-19 so I asked him why we had used wine glasses with red wine left in them then?? I was absolutely disgusted!! He tried offering me $50 off and I told him how absolutely disgusted and repulsed I was that I just slept in a bed that wasn't even cleaned!!! He decided to not charge me anything but I still can't believe with everything going on in today's world that a upscale hotel or any hotel could be so unclean! I'm just glad we didn't use the pool or hot tub who knows when that was cleaned last?! If I could give this place zero stars I would! read more

This is a newer, comfortable, visually pleasing hotel with a great downtown location. Unfortunately, I thought the billing experience was poorly explained and executed. They charge your credit card well in excess of the expected amount to cover for potential incidental charges, then credit you the excess amount later. This may have been explained, but not adequately, since the $800+ charge on my credit card when I got home came as a rude surprise to me. Furthermore, it took two phone calls over two days to get an email receipt out of them. Putatively, they had no email on file, which is strange since my booking was through a website. I think they could have followed up after the first phone call. If these practices are standard in hotels now, it comes as news to me. I need to stay downtown when I visit Appleton, but I will be trying hard for the Paper Valley, and only staying at the Copperleaf again in a pinch. PS- I almost slipped and fell in the shower stall. There was nothing to hold onto aside from the shower door. I could also do without the strong vanilla scent that permeates the lobby and elevators. read more

Back in March, we stayed here for my birthday for an overnight and massages. It was a wonderful night especially our massages which were so relaxing. The best part was when my husband left his ring at the spa and we realized halfway through our 2 hour trip home. We called the spa right away and they found it. The lady was going to try to mail it but this was at the beginning of the Covid-19 and unsure it would get to us. Well they held onto his ring until now when we could finally get back to pick it up. The lady went out of her way on her personal time to meet my husband in person to ensure the ring got back to us safely. Thank you so much for taking care of his ring and we really appreciate it!! We stayed at the CopperLeaf Boutique Hotel and Spa for my wife's birthday recently, getting the Silver-level suite in the hotel. We were extremely satisfied and pleased with the cleanliness of the facility throughout and I was impressed by the price of the room. Visiting from a larger city, rooms similar to the suite we had at the CopperLeaf would easily fetch prices double that of the boutique hotel. Furthermore, the hotel was right downtown, close to many restaurants, bars and entertainment options. I was concerned a bit about parking, as the best option is the parking ramp behind the hotel, but the hotel and parking ramp exits and entrances are close. And, parking was only $5 for the night (I pay that daily for my work in a larger metropolitan area). All-in-all a great stay. We were impressed by the facilities and would stay there again, should we visit Appleton for an overnight trip in the future. read more

Awesome customer service from LeAnn, and we were upgraded to a suite after telling our reason for travelling (family celebration) at no extra charge :) Super soft comfy beds, soft towels, nice Aveda products, a 24-hour whirlpool (NICE!) and a workout room. I discovered this place after reading the good Yelp reviews, and I can say honestly that these reviews are all true. We were on our way to Door County and b/c of a late start and exhaustion from driving...we decided to stop here. I had done some research online and found a deal on priceline. It was already 10pm when we got there and when I spoke with the person at the desk (don't want to mention their name in case this could get the person in trouble... but this staff member was SUPER), they honored the price I found online. Obviously they weren't too busy! This hotel has a prime location in downtown Appleton and isn't too far from the highway. I can't say Appleton is a major sightseeing city, but there were some bars/restaurants and a free trolley that gives you a trip around the damn and downtown (yes...so exciting, I know). They did have a framers market the next day which offered a great variety of products, including beautiful and reasonably priced flower bouquets and an abundance of deep fried food items...yup, no kidding. The rooms are clean, modern, have Aveda products and comfy beds. The only bad thing...the bath towels. They feel horrible...like cheap bath rugs, which was a downer considering how great the quality of everything else was. This is definitely something that needs improvement. There is also free Wifi...should be a staple everywhere now, but its not. They don't have a pool, but they do have a large hot tub and a spa (including a large array of service offerings for a hefty price, much like Chicago). The have a nice, small gym area, which we didn't get to use. The free buffet breakfast was decent and included a variety of breakfast items like eggs, muffins, sausage, toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt, tea coffee, etc. I also loved the cookies they have in the afternoon/evening. YUMMMMMM!!!! We would stay here again if in the area...very nice place! read more

A very nice little boutique hotel. If anyone is even considering staying here in Appleton, this would be the hotel that I would recommend. It's small, convenient to most things that you need to go to and it's along College Avenue. The room itself had an odd layout but not a deal breaker. I was not a fan of the view outside (garage roofs) and the "fake" fireplace..well, I could do without that. Bath products were Aveda which I guess is a good brand? (I have no idea since I buy either from the salon or the supermarket...yay me.) It does feel pretty intimate and quiet and it would be a nice little place to cozy up and hide away from the world for a little bit. I think most of the bars and restaurants are easily accessible from the hotel so that is definitely a plus. read more

The hotel was awesome very clean rooms. The staff was also very friendly. The only complaints I have is the pillows were terrible I felt like I was sleeping right on the mattress. The other complaint is the heater/ air conditioner in the room was so noisy I even turned down the heat and it didn't stop running so kept me up half the night. read more

An admitted hotel snob, it's not often that I'll drive 4 hours to sleep for 4 hours. I kind of like the fact that it's NOT in Milwaukee. It's kind of what Metro intended to be. Except newer and nicer and (oftentimes) more affordable. Boutique hotel. Connected covered parking. Full service spa, in basement. Rooms with all of the comforts/amentities. Many, many threadcounts and squishy pillows, on a heavenly mattress. High end toiletries/balms/etc. Quaint and quiet and private. Cute little bar in lobby, where I always have my captive (and attentive) bartender. Have yet to try the adjacent restaurant. The bar is usually my catapult onto College Avenue. They run some nice weekend specials. Pamper your little snoogiebooms, and relax. You've earned it. read more

I have stayed at Copperleaf twice this month and usually do not write reviews as I expect the best from the hotels I stay at. The Copperleaf is an exceptional hotel and unequalled value. Very clean, nice rooms, very good restaurant on site and nice spa which I experienced too. The most outstanding feature is the personnel. All the ladies that served me at the front desk during reservations, checkin and checkout, arranging rides to and from the airport, and coordinating everything I needed or requested were exceptional. They performed the task with excellence and were Wisconin friendly and obviously cared if I was comfortable and happy. The kicker is all this at a very attractive rate. You cannot beat the Copperleaf and you will enjoy everything about this boutique hotel. read more
