    Big breakfast
    Jessica B.

We have found that the service at this Cora's if fine. We are usually seated right away and our orders are taken pretty quick as well. Sometimes there is a long wait, but then again, we're used to it as there is almost always a line up. Our last visit we ordered savoury crepe (with eggs, bacon, and sausage) and a usually big breakfast (toast, hash, bacon, sausage, eggs - totally don't remember the names of both dishes, so please refer to the pictures). Everything tastes fine, nothing really crazy amazing, but that's normal with all Cora's/chain breakfast restaurants. There were a couple of visits that we had where our server forgot to refill our coffees and we had to ask another server to help us out. So, overall this Cora's isn't too bad, but will probably take the extra time to drive to another breakfast restaurant that has better food and better service.

    Gigi Omelette

The customer service was pretty good, the waiters were nice and everything. I ate the Gigi Omelette, and maybe I'm just not a fan of goat cheese, but it had a very very strong taste, and I don't really like that. However, it may just be personal preference. The oranges I had wth the omelette was also bitter...? I'm not sure why it's bitter, but that was not good for me. Other than that, the atmosphere was great! The bread was served in a basket, which i was shocked at first, but I find that super cool.

Bagle and lox - only lox on half the bagle, other half is tomato

Great brunch selection! The bagle and lox only has lox on half the bagle, the other half is tomato, and adding some lox for the other half of your bagle costs $7! Way overpriced for that, and too much extra fruit instead of enough lox. Delicious Cherries pancakes was delicious, and so was the April 89 fruit stuffed crepes with custard and nutella. Every dish comes with more fresh fruit than anyone could finish, not always ripe though.

I already ordered so I was left with this to photograph. It all looks great nonetheless!

The decor is a little whack but the service and the food are absolutely outstanding! I had the breakfast poutine and it was unbelievably delish. I mean if I could go back into the kitchen with skid-steer I'd load up on that breakfast poutine and swim in it while eating. A must eat, the breakfast poutine includes roasted potatoes, cheese curds, sausage bits, bacon, sautéed roast peppers, an egg (I ordered a poached egg medium) all smothered in a delightful hollandaise sauce. Keep in mind it's a dish that probably boasts a days worth of calories. Whatevs. It's freaking great. Anyway, plan your next breakfast at Cora's. Seriously do it. But get there early. This place is no secret. It's that good.

Cora's fruit displays always make me smile..... :) I first discovered "Chez Cora" in Montreal on a business trip, back in 1998. I remember at that time thinking that the concept was so unique, that all I needed was $250,000 unencumbered cash, to bring this business to Calgary. Yes... sadly.... I looked into it. But, I was a bit short in dough, and further, I am not a restauranteur. I eat in restaurants. That's what I do. I was delighted when Cora's made it to Calgary. I wouldn't say I am regular there by any stretch, but it is the breakfast place I choose when I am looking for a plate with more fruit, and less bacon. :) You can get the bacon there too, but you will be challenged to find that much fruit anywhere else. The "breakfast" food itself is comparable to any other family restaurant. A poached egg tastes like a poached egg, no matter where I go. However, the large fruit portions in a lovely display are what keep me going back there. Another consideration on whether I choose Cora over any other place is how I am "feeling". There are a lot of kids in this family restaurant, so be advised of that. This may not be your first choice on Saturday morning, after a wicked Friday. On most days for me, it is just what the doctor ordered!

The space offers a mix of seating which had indoor tables and a section with food court-style seating that's technically still indoors but feels more casual. It wasn't overly busy when I went, and the atmosphere was fine. Since I couldn't decide what to order, I asked the server for a recommendation. They suggested the Traditional Benny, mentioning that making it "Canadian style" includes maple syrup on the side. I also went with the Get Shorty Rib Poutine, which looked amazing when it came out, but the flavor just didn't quite live up to the presentation. It wasn't bad, just okay. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but I didn't think it lived up to the hype. I'd give it three stars.

Today I tried the SHAKSHUKA Stewed plum tomatoes, lemon, peppers, jalapeños, Za'atar spice, chickpeas, poached eggs, cow feta, fresh herbs, French rye bread. BUT I added an extra egg for added protein. It definitely needed it and I feel like the 3rd egg should be standard. Other bread choices would be a nice bonus. In the end it was a satisfying meal. Service is standard, open kitchen, nice ambiance showcasing eggs.

We were shocked to find another couple sitting at our reserved table--frankly, I hadn't anticipated it would be a shared table for eight in the first place. To make matters worse, we were rushed to order and pay the bill. After that couple left, another pair were seated at our six-person table without any explanation. Our dishes arrived in two separate waves with a 10-minute gap. They also automatically added an 18% tip for parties of more than five people, which I expect at least we should have a private table. When I expressed my dissatisfaction to the server, the owner came out and became confrontational and aggressive. He raised his voice, saying I could "tell him what I am not satisfied with." Then he offered a refund, which I immediately declined, and afterward snatched a package of coffee from the counter and offered it as compensation. I refused again--it felt more like an insult than a genuine apology. After we posted our reviews, the owner privately messaged my friend, asking us to remove them and citing the "small Chinese community" as a reason we should support each other. That's incredibly manipulative. Using community guilt to pressure customers into deleting honest feedback is inappropriate and only reinforces our negative experience. I will not be returning.

By the time it arrived, everything was stone cold. The cheese was literally hard from melting and then going cold, the potatoes were undercooked and raw, and the entire meal was completely inedible. Spending $35 on food that went straight in the garbage is beyond frustrating, it's infuriating. And the $5 "seasonal fruit bowl" looked like someone's picked-over leftovers. A couple random pieces tossed in a container and sent out like that's acceptable? It's honestly disgusting and shows a complete lack of quality control. At this point, I would've been better off ordering McDonald's for a third of the price, because at least it would've shown up hot and edible. This is careless, overpriced, and completely unacceptable. 1STAR. Complete fail.
