I went to Julian because some cosmetic surgery I had recently had (don't judge!) left me with a bad…read morecase of lymphatic buildup. My surgeon recommended therapeutic massage beginning a week after surgery. I'm not from this area so I went to my most trusted new best friend (Yelp) for a recommendation. To say I was in need of a good massage is an understatement. Lymphatic buildup after the type of surgery I had can leave you with rock-hard bands of what feels like seatbelt webbing under your skin. If those areas aren't worked and broken up they can become scar tissue and permanent. (Not the fault of my surgeon, btw, my body is just apparently one of those "lucky" few to whom this happens). It is also extremely painful and severely limits your range of motion. I booked my first appointment and was so amazed and pleased that I booked a whole series of two-hour appointments immediately thereafter. Julian knows exactly what he's doing. His knowledge of physiology and kinesiology becomes obvious immediately. The type of massage I needed is NOT your "fluffy bunny spa massage." It's very deep tissue, very specific and it takes a skilled practitioner to get it just right. Don't get me wrong, I am pretty sure that Julian would be able to pull off some wonderful "fluffy bunny spa massage," in fact, I look forward to testing his skills on that some day soon. As a person, I have come to adore Julian. He is gentle and kind, very smart, caring and an excellent listener. I am so thankful to him and to Yelp for helping me find him!

I am only in my 20s but I spent my entire life through college as a dancer, I work out 5-6 days per week, and I have a lot of stress/anxiety problems. Julian has been a miracle worker for all of these things. As an extremely anxious and (oddly) private person, I was really nervous about going in for a real massage. But Julian immediately did away with my concerns. He was warm, welcoming, and soothing from the moment I entered the room; gave me plenty of space to prepare myself; and was very sensitive to my temperament and to how new I was to the experience. Previously, I had only ever received fully-clothed massages that only focused on the upper back or were done as practice for a class. So this was something completely different. Julian is very good at listening to his clients. He really gets to know you, both in what you want from him in order to physically feel better and in who you are as a person. During my hours with him, there have been periods of really nice conversation and periods of intense calm and silence. Julian always seems prepared to go with whatever you need at that moment. Julian's approach is extremely physical, and is by no means soft or delicate, but his is really, in my opinion, a better approach for people with injuries and problems with pain. He has a remarkable way of pinpointing the source of your pain and relieving it in minutes. He also works your full body, not just the most popular points, and takes your lead as to what you feel needs the most work that particular day. And if that's not enough, he then helps work with you on tactics to help prevent that pain from resurfacing in the future or to find ways to manage it as best as possible. I can't say enough good things about Julian. He is worth every penny, and that said he also asks for an extremely reasonable price. If you want a truly lasting and relieving massage, go to Julian. He is the top of the line in every way.

I originally went here to treat my pain and to understand which approved pain procedures I might be a candidate for (e.g. spinal cord stimulator). As a chronic pain patient in a great deal of pain, I've never been treated as poorly as I was here. They really had their own agenda. For example, a week or so after my first appointment, I received a call from a businessman on behalf of Katalyst pain clinic, asking whether I was interested in a novel treatment for my pain. When I asked about the cost, he told me it was $10,000-$12,500 - with no insurance reimbursement. This is fine to know for the future, but I needed to get out of pain now, using my insurance. It felt humiliating to repeatedly request both in writing and verbally that I needed to stick to what my insurance would cover, at least until I had a new job. I'm responsible to pay the bill, after all. I was disappointed in the care provided, the unprofessional demeanor, and frankly the attitude demonstrated by Dr. Buettwell (embrace patient, argue with patient, discard patient). I never did learn about my other approved treatment options - only the off-label peptides and platelets they push. Apparently, some things are more difficult than medical school.

Dr Sturm has put together a wonderful team of employees who are absolutely great at their Jobs. The atmosphere is relaxing and when I'm in pain that's so important to me. I went on u tube to try physical therapy first but it didn't work. I'm going for a MRI this afternoon. I've had surgery on this shoulder about 10 years ago and was told not to injured it again but life happens. Knowing Dr Sturm and his team are going to be there for me means so much. I'm not as scared anymore. Thank you everyone.

I went there hoping for the best and looking for some help, but was just really disappointed and…read moreeventually appalled by the way they acted. While most everyone is nice enough, it seems like their only real goal is to latch onto your wallet and milk it for all it's worth. During your initial evaluation, be prepared to be told that your posture is off, your spine isn't aligned, hell, your jaw might even be out of whack, your feet are all kinds of screwed up, your neck...oh your neck....it's going to take some work. They will raise your arms and push down on them, they will pull on your legs, they will push on your sides, and you know what? They will find LOTS of things that need serious attention. See how easily they pushed down on your arms? You know what that means? We have just the thing to cure it. It will be HEAVILY suggested to you that you need to see this person for x-rays, and another person for chiropractic help (hey, we have one in-house...you can just pay us more), and you will need insoles for your shoes (we can take care of that too!), and you'll probably want to use our special machines..and yes, they cost a little extra as well. Another kicker for me was that when I was there doing PT, the person who was supposed to be watching me and telling me what to do, was so busy on his phone and watching TV that I was kind of left on my own to figure it out. Here is a hint: if I'm hurt, and am vulnerable to hurting myself again or making it worse, pay attention to what I'm doing! While they might be good for some, I couldn't stomach the feeling that I was just being ripped off constantly. If you have options, find somewhere else to go. If you want to use their AlterG and that's the only reason you are there, just go online and find another place to use one. While they will tell you they are the only ones for miles around who have one, it's a lie. Just go on AlterG's web page. If you do opt to go here for some strange reason, be prepared, willing, and able to use the word "no" a lot. They will sound convincing, they will make it sound like your choice is doing it thier way or being crippled, it's not true. Find someone else to help you get better. You'll be happier.
