After reaching out to a few reccos from friends and even some here on Yelp and had gotten no response, I took a leap of faith and found someone recommending The Wallpaper Lab on another site. I had no sooner visited his website and left my contact information when I got a call back from Charles. He asked about the scope of the job, had me send him a video of the project and within a couple of days I had an estimate in hand. And even better than that, he was reasonably priced and could fit me into his schedule within a week. When does that EVER happen? He showed up on time, set up and got to work and made my simple bathroom go from eh to WOW in just a few hours. His attention to detail was amazing as he crawled around the floor to make sure that it was perfect. I also had him put a privacy film on the bathroom window and that tricky job was also done perfectly- not an air bubble in sight! Another plus? He is great to have working in your home as he is meticulous about not making a mess and if there is one, he cleans it before you even notice it. In my master bathroom, she transformed my builders' lifeless, brown cabinets into marvelous, lustrous platinum. With her unique eye, her experience and knowledge, she redirected me from my original color choice which actually clashed horribly with the granite. Saved by Diane! Our second project was refinishing a Rococo faux fireplace. Diane skillfully and patiently corrected the failed attempt of a previous faux finisher. Her superb interpretation of my vision successfully brought the piece to life, and it is a grand focal point of blacks and golds in my great room. Our third project involved refinishing, updating and gilding the wooden frames of my sofa and loveseat prior to sending them to be reupholstered. Diane worked hours and hours to give the frames a majestic, golden hue. I watched as she crawled on the floor, contorting her body to reach every surface and achieve the look I wanted. Diane's commitment to finishing the pieces in the promised time was the most professional dedication I have seen in all of the decorating projects I have attempted in my home over the last four years. Our fourth project was the resurrection of that very same sofa and loveseat frames when they returned from the upholsterer. Three-arm frames had multiple fractures. They were cracked, scuffed and scraped as if they had intentionally been mutilated. The legs of the sofas were scratched down to the bare wood. I was despondent! I called Diane, and she came that very day to assess the damage. She vowed to do her best to restore my furniture. Three days later, Diane arrived and sanded, filed, puttied, painted and glazed the frames. Working from morning until night, her meticulous approach to the repair was so thoughtful and precise, if you did not know the horror story of their "attack," you could not detect the damage. Chelsea Lane is a wallpaper store with a tiny boutique tucked into part of the showroom. The wallpapers decorating the walls and the bathrooms and everywhere were so interesting and intriguing! Even though I'm not in the market for wallpaper, I could have sat down and looked at samples for way too long just to see the beautiful prints. The boutique features a carefully, artfully curated collection of small, beautiful items such as books and jewelry, plus a few furniture items and a small rack of clothing. It also carries some locally-made products. The prices ran the gamut from super affordable (really lovely sea glass earrings, for example) to high end.
