There were lots of selection for auction and you can go view the items up for sale the day before, which is a Saturday. The auctions themselves are on a Sunday. The auctioneer moves things along rather quickly and all the staff was friendly to us. There is a little lunch bar ran by nice people who homemade sandwiches. Yes, there are chips and candy bars, but the breakfast burrito was homemade. I didn't feel that the auction house was not over filled, and the staff helped to move your stuff out. We checked out rather quickly, and the office staff was very friendly. Just a great auction experience and you should come on down to enjoy it yourself. read more

I wish I would've read the reviews before I had them pick up a lot of very valuable things. Things that have never been used and had a $1200 price tag and it was auctioned off for $100 which I really can't fathom, I would've rather given it to a favorite charity such as Salvation Army or Vietnam vet. The fine print does say it starts at whatever price someone wants to auction it for which I think is actually criminal. I won't be using them again. I'm actually in tears because what I thought would be something that would be helpful in my move. Turned out to be just the opposite. read more

I've experienced a lot of auction houses in my past. But none that have operated in the way that Corbetts auction house does. Items lost, resistance to use reserves, questionable selling prices. Recommendation if you use them would be make a detailed inventory of your items and be there the day of the auction that your items are being sold and keep your own records. Recommend recommendations to improve to become more client oriented and have less attitude. read more

Very pleased with Corbett's auction house. We inherited over 100 framed and unframed signed and numbered art prints, many by Dali and Azoulay. We had no idea how to sell them. I contacted Hindman's and they came to my house and looked at them for no charge, but they said my prints didn't meet their dollar threshold for auction. Then I found Corbett's in an online search. They said absolutely they would auction them. Two very nice (and efficient) young men picked them up. They put some in their auction immediately. I got my first check a week later. They sold almost everything, realizing prices from $5 to $775 each. We netted almost $11,000. I'm sure some of them were purchased by dealers who will resell for a profit, but that doesn't bother me. And of course Corbett's charged a commission on each piece. That's how they make their money. But It's much better to have $11,000 in my pocket than 100 prints in my basement. Excellent deals but not so cheap that the sellers won't be happy. It's quite a bit of fun to go and bid on items. I've gotten some amazing deals, and am in the slower, more retail process of selling my finds to end users. My best purchase so far was a sterling silver flatware set. I gave these guys a ton of stuff! The guys who came and picked my stuff up gave me an attitude right off the bat. I made $600 total off what I gave them, which to be fair should have been at least $2,000.00. Sometimes I got a random check for $6.50. Such a joke! There are much better auction places around town. Do yourself a favor and find someone else. Who knows how much they shorted me and pocketed for themselves. read more

I've been attending auctions for over 50 years. I'm well acquainted with how an auction works. I attend 40-50 auctions a year. However, at the time of this auction I placed an absentee bid for an item for 205.00. I was able to attend the auction and when my item came up for auction the auctioneer started bidding at 300, he had no takers and started at a lower number. He got to 200 and said sold at 200.00. We pointed out to the auctioneer that we had an absentee bid at 205 and questioned why wasn't our bid acknowledged. He said he was sorry but the high bid was 210. When we questioned him to why he said 200, he had no answer. If he had said he had a high bid of 210, I would have bid again. When I called later to ask for an explanation I was told the item sold for 275. Now I'm confused. I've been told 3 different sale prices. The owner says we were simply outbid. Well from where we were standing, which was right in front, it didn't feel as if we were just outbid. I think any other buyer in my shoes would feel the same read more

I would highly recommend you never use Corbett's. They are a total rip off. We gave them very high end 16th century english antiques and were told they have buyers that specifically are looking for this quality of antiques. When they picked our antiques up, they gave us no list and were told we would get one when they unloaded. I called Sunny to ask where our list was and she just said we would get a check within 9-12 weeks of what was sold and wasn't giving us a list of what they took. We gave them upwards of $30,000 worth of antiques and got a check for $611 with a convoluted list of what they sold. Totally dishonest people. Talked to Sunny the owner and she lied about what she told us when she came out. These people I believe are con artists. I can't believe they are still in business quite frankly. I went here the day before their advertised auction to preview the lots. One of the big lures was an antique photographic albums said to contain original photographs of Native Americans. Were this to be true, it could be worth many thousands of dollars. After I schleped across town, I discovered the "photos" were dot matrix reproductions. This means one of two things: 1. They are incompetent to determine their own lots. 2. They were deliberately misleading in order to draw a crowd. Either option is unacceptable. This is a pathetic auction house. They got virtually nothing for 3 paintings we consigned to them, including an early 19th Century Napoleonic watercolor - $7. A fourth did not sell, but they failed to respond to us SIX times when we attempted to contact them to pick it up. They 'donated' it without our permission therefore. I am hoping that people who are looking for an auction house that will treat them fairly will read this review first. I had done business with them for several months without problems and yes you typically get $0.10 on the dollar for what you turn in, and after 2 months of receiving no checks eye contacted them to ask what was going on. I was told by the first person that they disposed of everything that they couldn't sell. Alarming? Yep alarming. Then I proceeded to try and contact them for the next 4 months, and was either ignored for weeks on end and then someone return a phone call, I would try and return again, gave up and decided email was going to work, someone would sort of get back to me but between April and July there was sparse contact to find out where my merchandise went. I did talk to two people, after the first person said that they had thrown everything out that couldn't be sold, the next person said oh no We don't throw anything out it's all here. Then the next person says no we disposed of it. I wanted to speak to Todd who is the manager or owner, and that was a next couple of weeks to try and get a hold of him. He was dismissive, rude, uninterested and kept re-repeating the same sentence"We disposed of it."I kept asking him where did you dispose it to? Since you've removed several thousand dollars worth of merchandise and thrown it away or given it away I wanted to know where it went so that I could take a text right off if nothing else. He kept repeating the same stupid sentence that he disposed of it, refused to tell me where it went or what he did with it even after I press specifically did you throw it in the dumpster, did you give it away and where did it go? He refused. I intend on taking this to the media and letting them know how I was treated in the hopes that someone else will not bring things in to try and sell and if they can't sell they throw it out. That's what disposing it is Todd. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had and I have dealt with large auction houses like Christie's and Sotheby's and no way would anybody ever give you this kind of treatment. Makes my experience with them very enjoyable. My only problem is that sometimes there are people that want the same things I want and they have more money. I have been to Corbett's many time. I have no skills in appraising antiques but have been going to auctions since I was seven. I have a lot of fun at Corbett's. Sometimes the deal does not work out, you go home and see a crack because you did not look at the back and you are supposed to look. Sometimes you go home and find a signed book you did not know you bought and you are thrilled. Sometimes you just go for the BBQ they have on occasion. They are always patient and on occasion have given me advice to save me on money. No matter what you should go and make up your own mind, just go! read more

Corbett's can be a fun place to spend a Sunday afternoon if you are into the auction thing. It's easy to register to place bids and the auctioneer is very attentive. The quality of the merchandise varies widely though, and the place is pretty cramped with a 'garage' atmosphere. They do have padded seats, but not nearly enough for everyone. After the 'good stuff' is auctioned off they let people bring up boxed lots of items, instead of having to wait until the auctioneer gets to the lots. That helps if you really want something, but with so many people bidding don't expect to get a bargain. Also keep your eye on anything you win. Once it's sold it is yours ,and they won't do much if someone walks off with the item you just paid for. read more

Corbett's Auction House provided a full service: 1) Corbett's emptied my beautiful, fully-furnished home of most of it's contents via movers: 8 antique pieces, several collections, most items mid to high price range, to the company's auction sight in the Denver area. They only left what they absolutely could not sell, such as used mattresses. 2) All items were auctioned off / sold. Those items that did not sell were donated (or so I was told). 3) Payment was made to me in increments as items were sold. So, they did what they said they would do. Why the low / one star rating?! Here is the chain of events and problems I had: 1st) My contact people were impossible to reach and when I did actually speak to someone, they didn't know who I was or where my "file" might be. This went on for at least 2 months. Finally, I was told those two people don't work for the company anymore. "Ruby" came onboard, answered the phone when I called and was able to answer my questions. Still, NO information was ever provided to me.I had to ask specific questions to find out what their process was, etc. 2nd) Movers did all work in one day = 8 hours @ $100/hr. So, that $800 came out of the sale of my items. This seemed fair, since they drove 1-1/2 hours each way and this was a 2000 s.f. log cabin w/ 3 bedrooms, an office, two full bathrooms, stocked closets plus kitchen loaded with dishware, cookware, small appliances. 3rd) Items began to be auctioned off 2 months AFTER they emptied my home. I was told that my stuff was basically in line, waiting for it's turn. Finally, items were not all auctioned off at one time, but rather in portions, over the course of another 2 months. 4th) Now, get this: it took another 2 + months to begin to receive checks, each check representing each auction date. Six months from scheduling job to getting paid. And that's when I found out what a complete mistake I had made by hiring Corbett's. My total compensation: $295.00 for a house packed with furnishings, some antiques, including rustic / mountain lodge style decor, wall-hangings, lamps, all in very good condition. $295.00 after they took $800 for moving costs and 30% of everything that sold. 5th) It was very nice to receive the itemized list of what sold and how much it sold for. And this is how I discovered exactly what each piece of quality merchandise was practically given away for. I guess the the buyers (and employees) at Corbett's get great deals. The sellers, however, lose out BIG TIME. To recap: Zero customer service. Six long months to complete job. Sold all merchandise for pennies on the dollar. Examples: The $2800 office desk should have easily earned $500. The huge copper kettle could have possibly been sold for up to $500. The antique dry sink with copper insert sold for $35. Expensively framed artwork in a variety of styles, galore...sold for a few dollars or not sold at all. Boxes filled with miscellaneous items were sold for $5 or $10. Sooo many items did not sell at all. Why?! No advertising of auctions, not attracting enough customers. Too bad I was 2000 miles away and had no idea what a half-assed little operation this is. Everything is gone now -- all given away for next to nothing -- and my heart is broken. It's devastating! Oh, but I do have $295.00. read more

Full disclosure: my review is based on what I hoped Corbett's Auction House could do for us, which was to take from our parents' home a vast accumulation of very heavy and decent quality furniture, albeit old, so I would not have to PAY a company to haul it away. I did not contact Corbett's expecting to make several thousands of dollars on selling 30+ year old furniture. I have not received yet a check, and Corbett's was very clear that I would not receive a check until several months from now when all the items have been sold. I don't care. (I hope they don't read that.) I am just very happy that I did not have to pay to get the furniture out. I had no way to haul the furniture to Corbett's, so their movers came to the house. (Yes, there is a cost but why shouldn't there be? The movers have to get paid...) These men were two of the nicest humans I have dealt with - great sense of humor, hard working, and very careful with the items. They lent a hand when a charity showed up to take the sofas which Corbett's would not take because they would not be able to sell the sofas, but the charity would not take the sofas because they were in the basement and not at ground level. No problem. The Corbett's movers had the sofas up to the main floor in 2 minutes. The sofas went on the charity truck, so - again - I did not have to PAY someone to take them away. Yay! Throughout the whole process there was great communication as to what they would take, when they would arrive at the house, what the charge was for the movers, etc. The check we will receive from the auction proceeds will be icing on the cake. I highly recommend these people for anyone who needs to empty out a house of furniture and other household items. read more

Finally sold my stuff, but I wish I had taken it back. They sold $30,000 worth of books for less than $1500. They SUCK at selling stuff. They don't list everything on line, there's next to no advertising, their customer outreach is a joke, their customer service is a joke, and if stuff isn't selling they sell it off for pennies. I took back about a dozen books (the ones that were left) and sold them on EBay for almost what they sold all the others for. Also be careful about taking their checks, tried to cash 2 yesterday and THEIR bank wouldn't accept them. Now I'm stuck cause they aren't around to explain what the hell. If your a buyer have fun you'll find great stuff for pennies. If your a seller look forward to being screwed. read more

DO NOT SELL HERE !! I made the mistake of NOT doing my research on-line before using these guys and reading some of the previous reviews. We engaged with them to sell bags of loose cut gems (all different types of stones from rubies, aqua, emeralds, tanzanite, sapphires plus other types of gem stones (176 different bags of various stones, sizes, and cuts) and rings (22) which my parents made and cut through their jewelry business for 35+ years. My 87 year MOM had to sell after my Dad's passing to close the jewelry business down. We had a very detailed inventory of every stone classification, size, weight, caret, and type of cut. We even took pictures of each item before handing them over to sell. 1) Yes I agree with Kat S. review and several of the other bad reviews. 2) We were NEVER told when something was sold - we always had to call then to find out. 3) We were NEVER given any details about which items were sold and for how much (just a total amount that some of the rings had sold and here is some money. (we had specific amounts on each ring) They DID NOT keep details of the inventory and what each ring sold for and tell us this information. 4) Same with the many bags of gem stones. All we were told was "We sold some of the bags and here is a total amount". 5) NEVER was there any communications back to us - we ALWAYS had to call and in several cases physically drive over there and confront them about getting our money. 6) OH AND DON"T FORGET - When we were finally able to get them to pay us for what we guessed at the price these were sold for...... we were told there is a 10% Auction House Fee before they took their commission out. WHAT !! a HIDDEN 10% fee that was never discussed at any time or written in the contract !!! Just another way to suck money out of the deal.. 7) In the end ..... after 6.5 months of trying to help my Mom, we finally got paid feeling like we were taken advantage of. Granted they had a change of ownership during this period but still no excuse for never letting us know what was going on with my Mom's jewelry. Again we ALWAYS had to keep reaching out to them by physically going over there since they would never return our calls. 8) USE AT YOUR OWN RISK - as one of the previous reviews stated so well - "they are there to schlep junk" Lots of smooth talking up front but I would not trust them with anything of real value - they will milk all the value out for themselves. 9) Finally - if you do use them - use the hidden camera technique to document all the conversations so you have proof in case it really gets bad - I did. read more

They took furniture that consignment shops didn't want and led me to expect that all would be sold for a reasonable price. Instead of splitting up sets I trusted them with all of it. I wish I had used a consignment shop and donated what the consignment shop didn't want to charity. I was out-of-state when it sold so I don't know the true selling price. They said bedroom and dining room sets sold for $10 to $25. Didn't cover the cost of their movers. They "lost" the more valuable furniture and after I complained for 2 months they "found" a piece that was appraised at several hundred dollars sold for $50. They were very rude when I called and didn't respond to e-mails. read more

In regards to buying at this auction house, it's an auction. Prices always depend on who is there and how many people are bidding on each item. There were some issues for awhile but it has been purchased by a new owner and he has cleaned house! Management will not allow any "shady" dealings. Terrible experience!!! Our experience with Corbett's was they came in evaluated all of our good Kacey Fine Furniture (6 years old) indicated they could get top dollar for $10,000 worth of furniture and after 3 months we received a check for $322 and another for $12 (about $.03 on the dollar). They sold our 3 piece like new couches for $5, a beautiful designer rug that was a $1000 for $5 and Restoration Furniture saddle stools (5 that we bought 4 years ago for $750 for $60 for all of them - Restoration Furniture is still selling the same model today. They completely misrepresented their service and will not call us back and we feel they ripped us off! We indicated that we wanted to pick up all of the furniture they hand's given away for bargains and they again will not call us back. Having Salvation Army pick the stuff up for free and getting a tax deduction, as well as feeling good you did something for a needy family, would have been a much better option for us! read more

If you are a seller they are rude and unproffesional. Either they need to say that there not taking items under $100 or stop advertising to the public. They also can not keep track of inventory and good luck getting paid expect 3-4 months and it will always be wrong making you have to call and complain multiple times. If you have high end stuff to sell their are other ways because by the time they get to it and you get paid minus their commission you could have sold it for more money easier someplace else read more
