On a recent Sunday my friends and I were gathered at the birthday girl's house for a scrumptious brunch spread and cocktails. The menu consisted of a shrimp appetizer and a chicken appetizer and a buffet with a fruit tray, bread tray, chicken sausage, salmon, shrimp & grits, an omelette station, dessert tray and unlimited mimosas and bloody mary's. A month later as I'm writing this review everything is still memorable! The food was fresh, well seasoned and absolutely delicious. The 2 person staff for this event was attentive, professional, and always there when needed but never intrusive. I have surely bookmarked this business for future events. We used Corcoran Caterers for our wedding on Sept 17th 2022, and we were so pleased with the whole experience. From the start, I worked with Laura, and she was extremely organized and detail-oriented. I could tell from the first phone call that she knew her stuff! What sealed the deal was when me and my fiancé tried the food. The food was really great! It was miles better than what we had tried with another caterer. The food was super important to us, so this seemed like a stellar choice. On wedding day, things went perfectly. Laura recommended a great month of coordinator for us, so we had a dream team. Everything went very smoothly! Guests loved the food. The linens and glassware were stunning. It was a very beautiful day. The cake was the only thing that left something to be desired. I think they had a little issue with it being lopsided (we honestly did not care about that), but the actual taste of the cake was just OK. Emelie Corcoran is the best catering coordinator anyone could ever ask for! She is extremely efficient, responds to emails so quickly, and is always accessible on the phone. She is the calm, practical, solution-finding person you need when you're planning a large event or a wedding! Also, everyone working at the company is so patient and provides great customer service. We had our wedding in May at the Strathmore Mansion, which was peak COVID confusion with numbers in Montgomery County consistently changing. Emelie went above and beyond to revise our timeline, floor-plan (seating chart), and number of meals for the dinner reception several times! The food we catered was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend all the hors d'oeuvres we served (miniature Maryland crab cakes, lobster avocado toasts, maple pork belly bites, and brie & fig crostini). For entrees, we had a choice between orange ginger salmon (with spinach risotto and asparagas) and braised short ribs with (red skinned smashed potatoes and haricot verts). The food was absolutely delicious, and the servers were all wonderful, but I want to talk about one particular lovely thing that happened. I had mentioned my mom's name in my first call to Corcoran. And when the catering manager sent over the menu to review, it was clear that they had looked up mom's published obituary and learned about her life. I know this because the email accompanying the draft menu said, "We noticed that your mom loved to travel, so we chose some foods representing some of the places she traveled in her life." I mean. Laura and Corcoran allowed us to have the wedding reception of our dreams! We opted for a unique aka never been done before dinner style of tapas served family style. Laura was the only coordinator out of the five we reached out to that would even entertain our concept, and then she made it happen FLAWLESSLY. We have heard from several guests that this was the best wedding food they've ever had - and it was ENTIRELY gluten and nut free. We had so many people with allergies but Laura made sure everyone could eat safely and to our knowledge there were no issues. Most amazing Thanksgiving dinner! 2020 Thanksgiving was different, and I decided not to cook a Thanksgiving meal for 2 people. After much research, I placed my Thanksgiving dinner order with Corcoran Caters. Best decision ever!! I was given perfect re-heating instructions. The turkey was tender and moist, mashed potatoes were AMAZING, sweet potatoes were perfectly seasoned so we can enjoy the sweet potato without the extra sugar, string beans were crisp, gravy had incredible flavor and the mini brioche rolls were the icing on the cake. Our company which is located in downtown DC has been catering religiously with Corcoran for about three years now and I had the honor of coordinating three events with This catering company and have dined in about eight meetings where Corcoran has catered us. The food - flavorful, fresh, and presented beautifully. Every time the food arrives, our members and co-workers immediately gravitate to the conference room, absolutely salivating over the food. They have a huge variety of options to choose from in their corporate catering menu but my favorite was by far their bourbon salmon and chicken. You can tell how much attention to detail Corcoran puts into making sure that the food flows effortlessly from the appetizers, side salads, entrees, and dessert. I have never been disappointed by any of the food here - it is always served warm, it is cooked perfectly, and seasoned well. The food is reminiscent of a home cooked meal and brings a nice change of pace, especially in a corporate atmosphere. The presentation is impeccable. The food comes in a buffet style setup, served on literal silver platters with a portable flame to keep the food warm, and there is always such great detail in how the entrees are laid out. They even provide name placards in front of each food item to indicate the description. Service wise, huge shoutout to Marta for the wonderful customer service. She is quick at replying to emails and will bend over backwards to make sure that the food arrives on time and in perfect condition. My office has called on Corcoran several times over the last three years to cater meeting lunchs and/or breakfasts and today was no exception. Today we had clients visit, all of whom are vegan. Corcoran's owner is vegetarian, maybe vegan?, so her and her staff totally understand the specific needs of the of the non-meat/dairy-eaters. For breakfast the clients had pineapple and orange salad topped with fresh coconut, hot oatmeal with craisins and apricot, and a yummy blueberry pastry (for me and my co-workers who need butter in our lives). Since we eat with ours eyes first, I was full before my first bite, everything was so beautiful to look at. And I'm not even in this meeting. One thing: Corcoran needs two-days notice to prepare food, so no last-minute ordering. They're professional, always prompt, and accommodating. I highly recommend. read more

We used Corcoran for our wedding last year. Service before and during was fine, especially before and during the tasting. At the actual wedding, I can say it could have been better. The Hors d'Oeuvres weren't any different than at the tasting, but there simply weren't enough. I guess that's what we ordered though. They made a nice sangria for us and our guests. My main complaint comes with the main course though. First of all, I had made it clear at the tasting that I wanted the meat cooked to a medium rare- when I had it served to me, it was nothing short of well done. Very disappointing, especially on my wedding day. When I asked if they had any that was more rare, I was told, 'not at the moment'. It wasn't until I was almost full, at the end of the meal that I was offered some medium rare. The salmon too was overcooked. I also made very clear at the tasting that I wanted at least half of the salmon cooked medium rare (I know my friends and family). I was told that it wasn't really possible to get it cooked that way, but that they'll try. Huh? Okay- but a slop plate of not even well arranged, well-done salmon was not what I expected. I was very disappointed in this. I guess it says something to the quality of the fish they use that I can't get it rare to medium rare- as salmon really should be served for optimum deliciousness. Anyway, I would say that things were adequate, but that the cost didn't match the quality of the food at the wedding. I didn't hear of anyone complaining directly, but I didn't hear anyone say that the catering was particularly good. So, overall- average; three stars. read more

I had a month to go before our party (Mar. 24) for 26 at home and needed a caterer. I googled montgomery county and caterers. I picked several caterers to call based on their web sites and reviews I read here and other web sites. I settled on Corcoran for those 2 reasons and also because of two outstanding telephone references and of course because of Martha Corcoran. She was fantastic to deal with. For of all, she is a listener (something you don't find any more in the service industry). I told her what we were looking for and our likes and dislikes. I never had to repeat myself. We connected from the get-go. She e-mailed a menu (which was far superior to a more well known and bigger caterer) that I liked very much. It was a little high but that was because I asked for a quote where the caterer would provide absolutely everything. So Martha worked with me to bring the cost down about $500. We provided nice plastic dinnerware and plates (Costco) and our own linen and we were able to cut the labor cost in half because only 1 server was needed instead of 2. Oscar, the server, arrived 2 hours before the party (60th birthday party) started. Martha assured me that she was sending one of her best and he sure was. He set up shop in the garage and laid out the prepared food so it was ready to serve. Here are the highlights from our menu for the dinner buffet -- all delicious -- hors d'oeuvres -- crabmeat truffle, mushroom & artichoke crostini, tomato & basil bruschetta -- main dish -- bourbon & brown sugar glaze salmon and balsamic flan steak -- sides and vegetables -- brown rice salad (award winning!!), roasted sweet potatoes with lemon aioli, grilled vegetable display -- dessert -- white and dark chocolate mousse cake and mixed berries pie topped with orange almond streusel. Everything was great! And there was plenty of it! Our guests raved about the menu and the food preparation. It was my party and the guests were complimenting me all night on how great the caterer is. Oscar cleaned up and we didn't even know he was there. And believe it or not, he took all of the garbage -- every last bit of it with him. I have very high standards and am known to be critical when called for. But I honestly cannot think of one thing that was not superb about the whole experience. I looked for Yelp reviews and there weren't any but they had tons of good reviews on the wedding sites so I called them. They were GREAT to work with and the food was wonderful. it was both a sad occasion and a celebration of life and Sue and her staff worked with us to make it exactly that. I highly recommend Corcoran Caterers, for several reasons: First of all, Laura Hennigan (our catering coordinator) was the absolute best. Not only was she friendly, knowledgable and accommodating, she responded promptly to every email and every question I could possibly have. Also, when I needed a recommenation for a day-of wedding coordinator at the last minute, she provided an essential recommendation. It was a pleasure to have a contact as great as Laura to work with. She really knows her stuff. Secondly, my husband and I got MULTIPLE compliments on the food. Since the wedding, one of my college friends has asked me twice to ask Corcoran for their tomato soup recipe (we had tomato soup demi-tasse and grilled cheese crouton appetizers). Plus, my Maryland-born husband and his family greatly approved of the crab cakes, which - as you know if you are from Maryland - speaks greatly to their quality :) Finally, the service itself was impeccable. Throughout the cocktail hour, the servers passing hors d'oeuvres always purposefully stopped at my husband and I (none of that "the couple never eat at their own wedding" stuff!). During dinner, everything was served with such elegance -- servers lining up around the table with plates, and putting them down in unison. Beautiful! We are so glad that we chose Corcoran Caterers for our wedding. From the very beginning, we were impressed by their professionalism. Laura Hennigan, our amazing contact, was wonderful to work with - she started by working with us to provide a proposal customized to our expectations, which was very helpful in letting us understand and compare different caterers when were were deciding who to go with. The tasting itself was also very useful. Corcoran provides a tasting before executing a contract, and the tasting itself focused on the food we had preliminarily decided on (neither of which were true for all of the caterers we considered). The food itself was delicious, but more than that, we were able to have a good conversation about all aspects of the day - from the delivery timing constraints, to hora chairs, to whether we would be able have little glasses for a traditional toast. We left the tasting confident that not only would the food be excellent, but that Corcoran would be able to execute on the complicated logistics that is a wedding. During the months leading up to the wedding, Laura was always responsive, and very diplomatic in steering us in the right direction (that chivari chairs didn't make for good hora chairs, so we should get other chairs), away from the wrong direction (that chimichurri sauce was a poor choice for passed hors d'oeuvres), and was fantastic to work with on allergy issues, dietary restrictions, etc. And for the day of the wedding, everything was amazing! The food was delicious - we thought so at the time, our guests thought so, too, and we thought so again two days later when we had leftovers. Corcoran did a great job setting up the room to look beautiful, and most importantly, their staff was amazing! The service was great - attentive without being obsequious, and they were so efficient in serving everyone promptly (which let us go around the tables and get the dancing going on schedule!) From our perspective, everything worked so well! When we got back to our hotel room, they had even left us extra servings of food and dessert, which was a special extra touch. Choosing Corcoran to cater our 3/24/18 wedding at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in DC was one of the best decisions we made. We started working with Laura about a year out from our wedding date. She was incredibly flexible, responsive, and patient - even though she was pregnant and had a baby during our wedding-planning process! She still managed to make sure that she or someone else from Corcoran was there for us during our planning process. Very sad to give this review, but they have a horrible sales representative. I'm trying to shop around for caters in the area for my wedding and need an estimate of how much is going to be . The sales rep was not trying to give me an estimate seems like with these people at the end there will be surprises on ones bill. I have been using Corcoran for corporate events since about 1992 at two different companies that I have worked for. Their food is always great and of high quality. I am a foody myself and I know good quality when I see it. In addition to good quality, Corcoran tends to keep up with the current food trends and always pulls them off very well -- they are very creative with seasonal menus. Another thing I love about them is that they are easy to work with. We have had some challenges with budget in the past and they have always worked with us so that we looked like we spent a fortune. very disappointed this year, this is our second holiday party we had with them, and I could honestly say I could have done better ordering from the store. Maybe it's this time of the year, or whatever, we put in the order with an adequate amount of time, nothing last minute, but the food was of abysmal quality across the board, right down to dessert. we will go shopping, for another catering company, and not order from them again. read more
