She has no discernible way she diagnoses a patient and was unable to explain how she determined my child had schizophrenia. I would give this place a 0 if I could! Dr Cordero prescribed me 2mg of Zanex the highest dose you can take on this medication. She insisted to keep rising the dosage. Then she dropped the ball on me and cut me off without an explanation ( no phone call, nor did she return my calls for help!) Where to start? Power hungry rude unprofessional. She Hung up on me when I called regarding her staff scheduling an appointment that I was never informed about then billed me for a no show. She told me that the employee was fired so she couldn't ask if the employee made the appointment by mistake. She went on to explain how she doesn't make mistakes and if I didn't pay she would send it to collections. Waste of time and money. All I can say is, don't do it! Unless you got time to waste and you like having lots of pointless conversations and filling out packets for nothing. They want you to fax them personal information. Who uses fax machines anyways. Once you fax it, they say we need the actual cards and the two hours you just spent was a complete waste of time. AGAIN. Be prepared for a lot of back-and-forth. Checking and double checking doing it right but it's still wrong. literally a three week process and finally gave up. Sick of jumping through all the hoops, crossing all the tees and dotting all the I's still can't get an appointment. i have been in psychiatric care for 15 years and have 3 doctors. I changed once because I moved, the second one retired, and I was referred to M. Cordero. Her office is very unprofessional and she refuses to call you back. For the last three months I have had to fight to get my medication because she writes it up wrong, the pharmacy tries to fax them or get in touch and I end up back and forth with a secretary who is not compassionate or empathetic and a doctor who will not call me back. when you have been on medication it is important to make sure it is managed and going off it cold turkey is it can be dangerous. I called today to get my prescription refilled because I had one more month and was told that my appt for the following Monday was canceled and my prescriptions would no longer be refilled because I have been dropped from her practice. I was appalled. Never once did the doctor call me to ask me what was going on or touch base with me about why the pharmacy was having issues with how she wrote it up. So, here I am going cold turkey off a meds action I have been in for 10 years because she couldn't refill prescriptions correctly. I have been with her for at least 2-3 years and this is how she treats me. It is so unprofessional and I should report her to the psychiatric board for doing 10 minute telehealth appointments every three months and just taking my money. read more

I wish I would've read these past reviews before ever going into Dr. Cordero's office. Dr. Cordero herself is very calm and has a kind manner which is comforting when first meeting, until you realize she will prescribe so much at once with little care for your wellbeing. However, her reception staff, is still the main issue with coming here. There is no one to answer your call, you are always sent to voicemail, even the emergency service will try to connect you to her office and it is still the same low-quality voicemail. It is stated they will respond in 24 hours, or 4 hours if it's an emergency but even when I had a bad reaction to a medication she prescribed, her office took 3 days to respond, only to be left a voicemail saying to stop medication immediately and that I should make an appointment to be seen sooner. Again, no response to my voicemails. Please find a different psychiatrist, preferably one that wants to hear you out and one that has better communication skills or that has a working receptionist to answer calls. Horrible experience!! I would call the office and leave messages several times to make an appointment for my husband, and it would take many attempts before I would get a call back. He is on an RX that requires a visit to the doctor every three months. So it was imperative that he get scheduled. There were many times Dr. Marlene Cordero would be on travels out of the country and not be able to see him, so we found him a new doctor and quit using her. About a year after seeing her for the last time, we received a bill from a Collection Agency for a "no-show" appointment?!?!? You must be kidding me??? I've tried calling several times (once again) for information regarding this situation....and NO response at all. I am furious and plan to file a legal complaint against Dr. Marlene Cordero as this is now on our credit report. I would highly recommend NOT using her. read more

Very odd experiences with this doctor and I was warned. There's a coldness about her that when you're going down emotionally, you most certainly can live without. I get that she's got to cut to the chase. At the conclusion of my first visit, she summed up my life as unfortunate and said that if I had had her experiences most especially with her father, I'd be happier. At first I thought it was cultural as she's from The Philippines and I have found that this one group's usage of language creates ambiguity for me and is bizarrely long-winded and needlessly flowery. English isn't necessarily their native language so I make allowances. However, she appears to be suffering with some degree of dementia because she's made numerous errors calling my pharmacy and point blank dismissed my telling her she had done already. Ok, that's life but within the scope of mental health care, it doesn't work. She also called in two meds that are at odds with one another when taken together so much so that the pharmacy sat me down to discuss it. I had to agree to eliminate one medication entirely or forgo the product. The combination put me at risk of lowering my blood pressure and breathing to the extent I could perish. Additionally, she doesn't call back, nor does her receptionist convey communication to her adequately. She works very few hours and is located out in the boonies. To sum up, Dr. Cordero has an offending bedside manner, is forgetful, lacks compassion, is punitive, may possess linguistic inadequacies, and her only staff member seems to be likewise. Not good at all especially if you're suffering. Driving out to the outback while severely depressed only to be minimized by a thoughtless doctor is a shame. I'm honestly not one to leave reviews (good or bad) but I wanted to share my experience so nobody else has to go through this. To sum it up, I was diagnosed by Marlene Cordero as bipolar 2 from our single 50 minute appt. After my own thorough research I realized I really didn't agree with that diagnosis and wanted to discuss further (since I wasn't given any information on the illness after her diagnosis at the end of our 1st appt.). When I brought that up to her in our follow up appt she was absolutely dismissive with me, would not listen to any of my concerns, and told me she's never made an incorrect diagnosis. I felt she was cold, arrogant, and unempathetic. I really just needed her to listen and she didn't. So dissappointing. I do NOT recommend this psychiatrist, she is the reason why so many people don't put their trust into mental health professionals. And we can't have someone like that practicing like a professional (thank god I wasn't actually suicidal!). I am not giving up however, and hoping to get a second opinion from someone who actually listens to my concerns and treats me like a human being. Good Luck out there friends! read more

Dr. Marlene Cordero is a good doctor who listens to your concerns, but her skills are rendered useless by a horrible reception team that will not answer the phone or return messages. I regret that they did answer when I made my initial appointment because all follow up issues have had to be resolved by physically going to the office and insisting that the secretary file my paperwork while I watched. I should have listened to all the horrible reviews online because I never even met her and her business practices where awful. There was a mixup on the scheduled date of my first appointment - I had it in BOTH of my calendars for one day but the receptionist claimed it was for the day before. She did call to confirm my appointment via voicemail, but I did not get it. She said it was considered a "no call, no show," and their policy states that I cannot be rebooked. This doctor wants her patients to feel comfortable and safe, and yet mistakes aren't allowed? What a horrible way to treat patients who are at-risk or vulnerable. STAY AWAY! Unless you need a drug dispensary. This was my first psychiatrist experience. Medical only had a few options in the central coast and it was between her and another psychiatrist with a negative medical board complaint. Marlene and her soft spoken self makes you feel like you are going to be taken care of. She prints out 10 question surveys that she then uses to give you a diagnosis. She then will prescribe you medication over medication to alleviate the side effects from the previous one. Again, if you are looking for a drug dispensary of controlled drugs this is it. If you need real psychiatric support, please try something else. I tried reporting her to the medical board but their agency is a joke. read more

When you go in she's sitting at this big, high desk and you have to sit on this low couch where you're looking up at her. You might as well sit on the floor--that how low the couch is. I was in the "waiting room" and the person who was in there with her was talking and I could hear every word so I went outside to wait and when I went in I couldn't stop thinking someone was out there listening to me. Dr Cordero is wonderful. My issues were resolved quicker than I expected and any issues I had she addressed directly and within a timely manner. I was seen in 2013 and did receive a bill for an outstanding amount. When I called to ask for clarification of this bill I was told about the previous billing team had stopped sending out patient statements without the doctor's acknowledgement. I called my insurance and verified that I did owe the amount requested. For anyone who's questioned the bills they received, you are financially responsible considering you signed a financial waiver acknowledging your responsibility. You can be billed up to 4 years after seeing any doctor. I'm in the medical billing field and understand what they had gone through. read more

Awful, awful service. My wife had an appointment with Dr. Cordero in 2017. Here we are, over 2 years later, and we receive a bill for almost $400 plus interest from a collections agency. Dr. Cordero's office still has outdated insurance information, despite our many attempts to update them. I've called and left about 7 voicemails in the last couple of weeks. Still no response. I feel like we're getting screwed over here because we have no way of contesting this and since it is so old, no way of getting our current insurance to help pay. As a doctor, I'm sure she's perfectly adequate, but the billing department is notoriously bad. Not worth it. Absolutely TERRIBLE. A doctor who ignores phone calls, does not tell you when she leaves the state/country, puts you on a plethora of medications even when you tell her they are not working and giving you SIEZURES, ignores symptoms, pushes more and more meds until you are sick and never answers or returns phone calls. I had to show up multiple times to her office in person because she does not tend to her patients on the phone. Even then, Most times she isnt at the office because she skips town without letting patients know resulting in inability to get refills, change medications, up or lower doses, inability to tell her that you went to the hospital for the 4th time that week for medication induced seizures. She is condescending and rude and does not listen. I finally stopped going to her 2 years ago because at that point she had put me on 6 different meds and failed to listen when I had life threatening symptoms. A full year later, I received a bill from her and saying it is being sent to collections if not paid!!! When I called to ask why I am getting billed when I hadn't seen her in over a year, no one returned my calls or answered the phone. This doctor needs her liscense taken away for malpractice and hopefully she doesn't kill someone in the meantime. I wish I could give her negative 5 stars. read more

I'd give this place zero stars if I could. I think I only had one decent visit there. The guy who works the front desk was probably the nicest person who worked there. The other lady who works the front desk is definitely the reason I stopped going there to see Cordero. I had problems getting my meds filled and Cordero's office said they would call me when they got it fixed. I never heard back from them. I called SEVEN times and left messages each call... Not one call back. So I decided to call again and cancel my next appointment because I was just done with them. The girl who worked the front office finally called me back to see why I cancelled. I called them out on not helping me and she was literally the rudest person I have ever talked too. I asked her why the never called me back and she said that she tried. I had no missed calls. So when Cordero finally called me she said that no one had given her my messages. She had went to check the messages to see if I really did call and she apologized because all my messages were there. read more

Dr. Cordero provided me with satisfactory services over 3 years ago in 2013, YET just this month in 2017 I have received a call from COLLECTIONS, regarding an unpaid bill I had NEVER received or had been made aware of. For the 3 appts. I saw Dr. Cordero, I offered a copay which was not collected. I recall the office being extremely slow or not even returning calls back in 2013 despite their outgoing message which promises a call back within 24 hours. NOT. Over the past several weeks I've left half a dozen messages requesting an original bill or some documentation indicating I was ever contacted or sent a bill. No reply from them. The woman at the collections agency was most helpful though ironically! My phone number has not changed in over 10 years. My address did change several months after appointments were done, but mail was forwarded for 6 months! As an office administrator myself, can only shake my head in frustration at the way this office is apparently run. Crummy way to treat people who are seeking help. Too bad, Dr. Cordero deserves better as do her patients. read more
