The nurse and doctor I guess she was? Was awesome. Super friendly, seemed to love her job and interacted with my 2 year old son very professionaly and caring. Made him laugh too! And gave him a paw patrol sticker when done. Def will be back If needed.

We've always had great service at Carbon Health's Atascadero location. Front desk and medical staff…read moreare wonderful. This is in regards to billing, however. Took my son in for a sports physical, and they were running a special for $55 ($20 off the normal cost), which was a bonus. Couple of weeks later, I noticed an additional $20 charge that was added to my credit card 5 days after the service date. When I called to inquire about the charge, the front desk attendant quickly explained (as if on script) it was because there was a "missing modifier" on the bill. That somehow the charge had been accidentally added, but the modifier was missing to remove the charge. She gave me the number of their biller, so I called the biller. As soon as I gave the date of service and my son's info to the phone attendant, she immediately said, "Oh, you must be calling about the missing modifier, and the additional $20 that was not taken off your bill." Yep. "Let me speak to my supervisor so we can remove that for you." Few seconds later: "I spoke to my supervisor, so I will get that refunded to your credit card within 7-10 business days." Very strange...almost as if the extra $20 charge is something that's "accidentally" slipped in automatically with every sports physical "special", and if it's queried, it's removed -- if not, yay for them. Also: the situation would have made more sense if the initial accidental charge was $75, not $55, with the $20 added on 5 days later. Might have been an honest mistake on their part -- I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and try going back the next time one of us needs urgent medical care. But I'll be checking my statements carefully afterward, just in case.

Up until last year, I was a patient of Dr. Stephen Sigmund for 15 years. His manner has always…read morebeen too brusque for my liking, especially in recent years. One problem that I have with his approach is that he tends to treat "by formula" instead of treating me as an individual. An example: on getting up out of a chair after a dental procedure, I felt dizzy--it was not a syncope; I did not pass out. The dentist sent me to Sigmund who put me in intensive care overnight. His excuse was that my heartbeat was below some magic limit. The fact is that I have been a runner all my life, and my HB is regularly below 50 in the morning. Sigmund had records of my low HB, but I feel that he didn't take it into account. The bottom line--an expensive hospital stay for what I think was a momentary vertigo. On the positive side, he picked up my prostate cancer from a PSA test, and it was successfully treated. The reason that I stuck with him so long is that he is very intelligent, which I value in a doctor. The reason that I quit was that he didn't always use that intelligence, and became more and more brusque and less communicative in later years.

Because his name was not on my insurance card , he wouldn't see me. I will NOT be going back! They are extremely unprofessional. Don't waste your time going to him. There are plenty of other good doctors out there. He is a primary care doctor that will take time to serve your needs.
