Having experienced our fair share of poor medical care and lack of compassion and courtesy for the elderly, I went in with modest to low expectations and they blew me away. Everyone from Dominique, the lovely woman in charge who helped get us into the facility to the team at the front desk, the social coordinators, the nurses and nurses assistance were all wonderful and caring. The physical and occupational therapists were top-notch and though she was allowed 20 days in rehab they got her too a place where she could return home in under two weeks. They also coordinated and put us into contact with home health for both occupational and physical therapy as well as a home health helper to come to her home for showers, etc. They also coordinated the medical equipment that she would need and made the whole process very easy. Bonus points that our relative absolutely loved the food! Thank you to Seveb Acres from "Toto's" family!

I relied on this group of people to tend to her medication needs, meal prep, groceries, light housekeeping, and even help her take care of her little dog. I was in near daily communication with them, and am so grateful for all the work they did for us. By the end they felt like family. The basalmic chicken was very good. There was a good taste along w the healthy menu. This is an assisted living facility where individual rooms are provided. Next door on the property is a building from my understanding where more care is provided if that is needed. We are so lucky to have found The Abbey at Westminster Place. While some may say it is too pricy or only consider price when looking that the care is all the same. THAT IS SO FAR FROM WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED PREVIOUSLY!!! The Abbey is worth every penny! So far, I visit my father with a smile each day rather than worrying what "problem" or lack of care I would discover. The Abbey follows follow protocols, are professional and compassionate, are willing to work with family members to address requests or concerns, have safety procedures in place to ensure your loved ones safety, kind staff who truly enjoy working there (that is hard to find), and most of all acknowledges when the ball was dropped and willing to make changes when necessary. Tameka (Wellness Director) truly listens to your concerns and requests and creates a care plan to best assist your loved one. If you a concern, she is quick to investigate and get back to you. Rukayat (AL Director) is truly compassionate and is so kind during her assessment of your loved one. While she needs to do an assessment to recommend the best fit for your loved one, she does NOT demoralize your loved one! Jill and Norma (Activities Directors) put together a wonderful calendar of events that my father truly enjoys! Raquel (Move In Coordinator) assisted me throughout the move in process and followed through after to make sure everything needed was completed. Ashley (front desk receptionist) allows greets me with a smile and ready to answer my questions and get me answers as I learn the ropes. No place is perfect but The Abbey checks so many boxes which were not provided at our previous location. Most of all, both my father and I enjoy just being part of this community! The level of activities and healthy yummy food here at The Abbey is amazing!!! Each activity I have been to, I see the staff engaging with the residents and the staff leading the activity excited to be there and offer this for the residents! My dad's bubbly spirit has returned after moving to The Abbey! The care staff whom I have seen are ready to help you and point you in the right direction if they cannot. They truly enjoy their job and helping their residents! The administration attend many events and know the residents. The are professional and polite. Sadly many assisted living and memory care facilities take advantage of the elderly who are the most vulnerable and silence their voice or twist events and then blame on the residents lack of memory! Remember most of all, no location is perfect but what I have seen in these past weeks, The Abbey at Westminster Place is BY FAR superior and I look forward to attending the activities which truly occur when they are stated and well attended. Selecting The Abbey at Westminster in Houston was a wonderful choice for me. Although you may not be in this area, look at the description of this place for comparison wherever u are. There are several layouts here. I chose one bedroom with 1 & 1/2 baths. Closet is huge. Living area while not what I used to have is lovely and ample. Food that is always an issue is wonderful. There are choices for all meals, substitutions are available, special dietary needs are accommodated and Chef will work with anyone. T he only drawback is that you are likely to gain a bit of weight mostly because the desserts are fantastic. One of the things that mattered to me was how to maintain my physical shape at my age. The exercise choices are unbelievable and will suit whatever you need. There is also Hydrotherapy included in the monthly rent. It's rare to have it and helps me so much. You will have to look up what it is. The moving in process has been as good as it can be. Staff have been so accommodating in this very difficult process. Also, must mention that the other residents here have been kind and welcoming. They all seem to relate to how hard it is to make such an enormous change in these later years. I then flew to Houston and toured the place and the facility was very clean and the staff was very friendly. TJ, the manager (is a gem) has been so nice to work with, extremely helpful and gives me updates on my father (I am in a different state). Every time I talk to my father he tells me that everyone is very helpful and very nice to him! Picking a new home for an elderly parent is such a difficult and overwhelming process, Good Living Community made the decision and transition so much easier. Highly recommend!

I was given the name of Good Living Community Care by a placement company (sorry can't remember who but she was great too!) After 2 full months here at GLCC Mom has not been sick ONCE! The other $8500/mo. nursing home she was in the emergency room 3 times. Mom is happy and healthy and lucid finally. the Manager, Monica, is a real gem and God send. Everyone at this very personal care facility is helpful, accommodating to the point of unbelievable and just as sweet as can be. Wanni, the Asst Mgr, (def not spelled right) is absolutely fabulous, keeps Mom company, interacts a lot with her and makes her laugh. SO GOOD TO SEE! They even have a wonderful stylist who comes to make Mom feel beautiful, Iris Giron, washing, cutting her hair and doing Moms nails and she's very affordable. Speaking of which for all this personal care I pay less than 1/2 of what I was paying at the nursing home. Maritime Pharmacy, takes care of all Moms meds, they have a RN visit as needed and a physical therapist 2x's a week. I could go on and on about how wonderful this place is!

The food was excellent, facility super clean, Rehab therapists excellent and overall care good. We did have some challenges with my husband's demanding care at first but overtime we worked it our with the caring Director of Nursing Annie and amazing new Executive Director Michael. There were so many positives at Brazo Towers that I recommend it. The care of a stroke patient such as my husband is very difficult and necessitates a very active family advocate all the time. We were very disappointed in the lack of patient activities. Although a vigorous monthly calendar was posted very little activities occurred during my husband's stay. When we were leaving we saw indication regarding possible improvement in that area as well.
