I love core power and I exclusively do yoga sculpt. Unfortunately, this is the only studio where I have had low energy teachers and music. Mostly these classes have taken place at 3:15 or 3:30. I think there is a lot of room for improvement with these teachers. My favorite teacher at the studio is Angela -- she brings so much positive energy to every class and has excellent playlists. read more

While CPY is a great flow and workout, you can expect bad, very bad, customer support. Often the apps and live site have bugs where they are down and/ or you can't log in. You can't directly access anyone and have to email. They won't get back to you w more than an automated msg for many times a week. One time it was a month for me. So you end up paying for something that when it works its good, but when it doesn't work (often) you can't use it. With CPY being expensive and corporate, they surely could keep up with things and surely could respond / be accessible when there's problems. read more

I absolutely love this studio. It's clean and welcoming. There's a decent size parking lot. The instructors are all unique, helpful and knowledgeable. I particularly like the Hot Power Fusion (Hot Yoga) classes. The room is set to approximately 104 degrees and there is 40% humidity. Each class you generally run through the same poses, the instructors help adjust your poses if you're comfortable with it. I always leave the class feeling refreshed and more positive about the day. You can rent a mat or towel for $2 each if you forget yours at home. There's also water for sale. There's also a dressing room and bathroom that are always very clean. The front desk area also has yoga attire for sale. The only issue I have with this studio is that it is pretty pricey for membership (which doesn't take away from my rating). However, they did have Groupon occasionally as well as student discounts that make it more affordable. Additionally, the first week is free for newcomers. read more

I've had an on again/off again relationship with Corepower for the last 3 years. After being a member while living in CA, I canceled my membership when I moved to Boston primarily because I was an hour away by T from the closest studio. Since moving to East Boston and becoming fully licensed to drive in the state of MA, I became a member at the Medford location. Out of ALL the Corepower studios I have been to (Berkeley, SF, San Diego, and Boston) this is my FAVORITE studio. To me the quality of the instructors have been consistent since I started. Some of my favorite instructors are Kat, JJ, and Mai. Not only are their flows challenging, but I also like the pace and rhythm that they teach the class. They also happen to play pretty good music! In addition to the awesome instructors, the studio is also very clean and friendly! I always get a sense of community when I come here and I like that the instructors try to facilitate that with their students. Sadly, I will no longer be attending this studio because I am moving back to CA. :( I will miss you Corepower Medford! read more

CPY is my outlet. I am obsessed with everything they have to offer from yoga sculpt or hot power fusion. I am a regular at sculpt and have come to love hot yoga and all the instructors. Each one of them brings something to the table whether it be high energy or helping fix my posture and form. The only possible downside is that at times the class is a bit too crowded to my liking. Sometimes during a class I don't want to be 6 in away from someone but some how they make it work. I wish they had some sort of reservation policy and capped the class. Other that than I enjoy going almost daily! read more

I've been to a few yoga studios in the area, and this one has been my favorite across the board. The whole facility is sleek and clean, and the classes are wonderful. I would suggest arriving 15 minutes early always, especially if you go to an early evening class, cause those fill up to the brim sometimes. It's always nice to try something new be awful at it and still not be embarrassed. That's how I felt coming to CorePower. I'm not a yogi by any means and I've only tried it once a few years ago. I came to the beginner's class (in the middle of the snowstorm) and enjoyed the challenge and boy was it challenging. Desiree worked our abs, legs, arms, souls, minds, etc. I also liked that she addressed us by name. It seemed as though I was the only novice there, but she took the time to show me alternative moves to certain poses because I am not the slightest bit flexible. I really enjoyed the challenge and can't wait to go back and make it part of my routine. Other notes: -One free week pass that can be used at any studio. -Very clean bathrooms/locker room. -Plenty of parking. -They provide locks, but you can bring your own. read more

2.5 stars. I'm on the fence. I signed up for the free week of classes which was a great way to check out the studio. I first tried the corepower yoga 1 class. It wasn't for me. I don't like "flow" and the instructor was eh. I then tried the hot power fusion. It was way more my style. Little to no flow, you hold poses for a deep stretch and the class follows a routine. I spoke with the instructor at the end and based on my interests she thought HPF was what I'd like best. My issues... The price is outrageous. A drop in class is $23!!! At my previous studio a drop in was $16 and the class was 90 min, plus there was always an assistant available to help with adjustments. Also, there is no equipment involved! I bring my own mat and yogi toes. Where is the $23 going?!? The quality of the instructors varies. I have definitely had personality preferences with instructors at previous studios, but I've always thought they've known their stuff. Here it feels a bit different, maybe they are nervous or newbies? I like my yoga studio to feel like a sanctuary, a place to connect to me, peaceful. The music doesn't do it for me, at least the loud music with words. I had one instructor that played popular tunes in classical music versions which was a great middle ground option. But I'm not big on loud music especially at the end of class when I'm trying to rest. Still undecided. read more

I've been going to this location for a few weeks now and I'm absolutely obsessed!!!! They honestly had me sold after my first class, and I LOVE that there's so many class options and available times. For example, usually on Friday's I snag the 3:30 sculpt class... got home from work late, and no big deal, there's another class that I'm grabbing at 5! It makes it so accessible to people with crazy schedules, and I really appreciate that. I've been practicing yoga regularly for a few years now and I've tried lots of studios. Core Power is the first studio that I've LOVED in a long time. My headspace is so much happier, and it's always a great full body work out, no matter what class you take! read more

I love it, I wish it's not expensive like $150 a month. I think $100 a month would be ok, for my budget. The 1st time, I did Hot Fusion it was so hot that I have to step out twice, I feel out of it but I went thru it! The sweat dripping down was very good, clear your pore & it's what I needed. There4, I still can't handle it. So instead, I do Power Yoga Core 1 Vinyasa yoga @ room temperature is perfect! I like their soothing music, calms my nerves, the instructors helps you, relieves stress, relax & not think about the judgements! I also do core power yoga2 @ 8am weekends, it's a bit longer, challenging, harder & a bit less hotter than hot fusion so the weekend will be mine! Make you feel welcome, you want to accomplish your goal or mantra. Hard part is getting there 1st & start the session & you will feel better for yourself. I've been looking for a place to work out that is close to my apartment (the last thing I need is an excuse to not go...) and I'm really impressed by this studio. I have bounced back and forth between Baptsite and Bikram yoga for the past ten years, either getting bored or hitting a plateau with the set styles and studio schedules. I am thrilled to note that CorePower Yoga offers a Baptiste-y vinyasa flow class, a Bikram-esque class, and an aerobic weight-lifting yoga class. I don't think I'll bounce back and forth as much because now I have these classes offered in just one studio. Here are the positives: -There are more times on its schedule than your typical yoga studio, including noon/ 1 PM classes. -Music is incorporated in the classes, which makes me feel like I'm dancing choreographed yoga, which I enjoy. -The space itself is immaculate and well-decorated. I've never belonged to such a fancy looking studio/ gym in my life. It's one of those places where they provide spray on deodorant and mouth wash with little plastic cups at the sinks in the locker room. -There is a parking lot with ample space. -There are two studios (hence more classes on the schedule). -The teachers are wonderful- they are kind, approachable, and will be either hands-on, or hands-off depending on your preference (they'll ask). -They offer a free trial week, which I'm currently utilizing. -They have discounted rates for teachers and students. -They have great water fountains! -Mirrors in the studios -Class sizes aren't too high at the Medford studio. -Classes are only one hour long, which I prefer because I'm more apt to regularly attend classes that won't make me super dehydrated and lethargic all day. Aspects that may turn people off: -Classes/ packages are more expensive compared to other studios if you don't meet the discount criteria. -May not be as intense as other studios (heat not as high, classes not as long, poses not held as long), but I'm a firm believer you can make it as difficult as you need it to be (do more difficult variations on certain poses, get heavier weights for the sculpt class, etc.) My overall recommendation: definitely try out this studio's free week! I'm planning on purchasing a month pass in September after my vacation! read more

I've been practicing yoga since 2002 pretty consistently. I've also run a couple marathons and a tri so I consider myself an active person. I really wanted to like CPY because it's convenient to both my work and my home and the schedule can't be beat. My favorite local studios have lousy parking, fewer late evening classes, and can sometimes feel clicky and cultish.That said, CorePower Yoga is not the studio for me. I was shocked the drop-in rate is $23 dollars. Most studios charge $15-17 for a 1-1.5 hr class. Core Power teacher training is not accredited by Yoga Alliance, so you're paying for instruction provided by the corporation only. Hot Power Fusion -The instructor of the fusion class (Chelsea) was bubbly and helpful but I felt that the class was scripted and she was not able to deviate from the program. No Chaturanga dandasana. No flow. More like a bikram class. C2 - the class instructor (Tori) is terrible. She did not make eye contact and her voice was all wrong for a flow class. The instructor should facilitate ujjayi breathing, not whatever she was doing. The sequence is comparable to a beginner flow class at any of the well established yoga studios in Somerville/Boston/Cambridge. The class will feel really short to you if you are used to an 1:15-1:30 hour class. I am going to try the class with the free weights fully expecting it to be a cardio class inspired by yoga and not a yoga class per se. It's fine if CPY wants to be the next trendy workout of the moment (i.e. Pure Barre, Tae Bo, or even Curves) but they're short changing the customers by providing inferior yoga instruction at a premium. What you're paying for is CPY's national expansion plans and fancy soap in the locker rooms. read more

What an amazing place, honestly the best yoga studio I've been to. I've always enjoyed the practice so I decided to give it a try through a referral by a friend. There are so many class time options, which is great. Plenty of parking, as there is a lot. A lot of places I've gone you have to find street parking or just throw in the towel and take the T sometimes, so this was awesome not having to worry about going super early to circle a block to find a spot. CorePower Medford is the best! I am a registered YA 200 hour certified instructor, and this studio is top notch. The classes are consistently intriguing, while still maintaining the integrity of the basic class model. Instructors are knowledgeable, friendly & helpful. The studio is impeccably clean. If you are looking for a great physical practice, this is the place for you! The only way for them to be better in my mind is for them to add CoreCardio Circuit & Core Restore, which are only currently offered at select studios. read more

The Medford studio is my favorite of all the CorePower studios. The facility is clean, easily accessible, and never overly crowded. I've tried all of their classes; my favorites are the signature CP1, CP2, Yoga Sculpt and Hot Power Fusion. I was looking for a different variety of hot yoga as the Bikram sequence was getting a little too repetitive. Core Power's hot yoga is a combination of Bikram and their own poses. It's a great class, honestly, I've never had a bad workout here. The instructors are attentive, knowledgeable, and are not afraid of hands-on adjustments, despite the sweatiness. Definitely try out their free one week trial. Also, bring your own lock for the lockers! read more

I really like CPY. Specifically, I'm a big fan of hot power fusion class. It's the class with the most heat, so arguably one of the toughest. The Medford studio is okay...there's big windows in the studio, though, so it's bright and the classes can be back to back so it's possible to be rushed out. Normally this studio would get four stars, vs the five I've given Fresh Pond. That all said, I love Stephen's Saturday class so much that I'd take it in a dumpster. Okay, maybe not a dumpster but I'd follow him just about anywhere. Not only is it one of the better approaches to this standard class that CPY offers but he brings boundless energy, light, and love into the room. It's rare and it's worth experiencing. read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this studio!! I had taken a few Bikram yoga classes before and really enjoyed it. When I found out there was going to be a hot studio opening in Medford, was excited to try it out. Finally after much procrastinating I took my first class. I have been going at least 3 days a week for the past 5 weeks. I have only taken the C1 and HPF classes. I will be trying a C2 class next week (wish me luck)! There is a lot of focus on core work, which I like. As a "plus size" yogi, there are some positions I haven't mastered yet. The teachers give options to some poses, very helpful. All the teachers offer hands on adjustments as well. The staff is so nice! I have taken classes with Elyssa, Kristina, Michael, Monique, Desirae, Tori, JJ and Kat. Everyone teaches a little different and I have enjoyed every class. I am glad that I have added yoga to my exercise routine and I highly recommend this studio!! NAMASTE read more

I have been doing Yoga For Trade at Corepower Yoga Medford for a year now and ADORE this place! I am here literally everyday doing yoga, chatting with new friends, or doing my yoga for trade shift. Yoga For Trade is their awesome program that lets you earn a FREE UNLIMITED membership by doing one 3 hour cleaning shift per week. Amazing right? I don't mind giving up 3 hours considering how much I practice yoga here. The cool part is too that you can go to ANY Corepower studio with this membership! There have studios all over the country. My favorite classes are C2 and Sculpt, but I also love hot power fusion when I want some real heat at a slower pace. Sculpt is an AMAZING workout, I love that it combines cardio, yoga, weights, and stretching all in one heated hour of great music and energy. I recommend Corepower for anyone looking to heat up their fitness routine, chill out after a stressful holiday season, or change up their yoga practice. Each class and teacher is different, and that's a great thing! read more

Love love this studio. Great friendly and energized teachers. Everyone is happy to help you learn and improve your practice regardless of your level. My only complaint is that they have the same schedule every week night. Therefore based on your work schedule you can't really mix up your classes. This is a great place to do yoga! The staff and teachers are all extremely nice and friendly. The facility is clean and offers fully stocked showers with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash so you can get a workout in the morning before work, during lunch time break or in the evenings. I really like Kristina's C2 classes and obviously others do as well since its completely packed on Saturdays! Even when the class seems full, the staff and yogi students are nice and willing to reshuffle to make room for an extra mat. These yoga classes really work your entire body and especially your core for those nice flat abs! I highly recommend! read more

The facility was extremely clean and accommodating. I didn't have a mat or towel so I was offered one free of charge for my first class. I didn't have a lock...don't worry just trade in your own keys for a lock and keys. I didn't have a hair elastic (okay I was pretty unprepared), they had that too! I took the Yoga Sculpt class and it was really energetic and fun! Michael, the instructor, was extremely upbeat and encouraging - he spoke a bit quickly but always with the beat of the music so that was kind of cool. Let me preface this review by saying that I have tried out a lot of yoga studios and workout classes--I have become a tough critic. I have also tried out a bunch of different CorePower locations around Boston-- Fenway, Ink Block, Mystic Ave, and Newton. The Medford studio is by far my favorite and here is why: it is a friendlier and more communal vibe than other studios I have been to, there seems to be a supportive community within the teaching staff, there are always snacks on the table like cupcakes from someone's birthday or protein bars for the taking. It is also a slightly more open studio than the other locations, it is spacious and the studios are big so you never feel too crammed into your fellow yogis. Parking is ample, which is always a huge plus for me, someone who stresses about parallel parking situations. The studio seems very open to listening to their customers and frequently adjusts their class schedule to better fit the needs of people's schedules. This studio is not very crowded, but I would say to beware of the 5-6:30 classes because they can be very full of people on their way home from work. Those tend to be the classes I steer clear of because I find it less appealing to be shoulder-to-shoulder with my sweaty neighbor. For any first-timer here is a little synopsis of the classes. CP1 classes are really just for beginners, they are not as hot and they move pretty slowly, CP2 classes are your basic heated flow--I would highly recommend, HPF are significantly hotter than CP2 classes and I find them to be a little bit too hot for my liking, and then finally, YS--which is more of a heated bootcamp than a yoga class, incorporates the use of weights and involves a lot of squats, jumping jacks etc. It is very difficult but a great workout if you are up to it. 4/5 stars because this is a chain and I have a special place in my heart for boutique studios. That being said, the Medford studio is the one to try if you wanna give CorePower a shot--and you get a free week of unlimited classes on your first visit--what a deal! read more

I am so happy to find this studio and am a big fan of Hot Yoga Sculpting. The combination of yoga, strength, and cardio (in the heat) is as challenging as anything I do. Some days I'm just not up to it so I'll substitute Yoga II. There are many classes scheduled throughout the day. Yes, it has a bit of a corporate feel but with that comes consistent quality in the instruction. I see complaints about the cost but the facility is kept impeccably clean and their heating bill I am sure is substantial. My only complaint is that the music can be so loud that the instructor is impossible to hear ... but I am old and probably the only one who feels that way ... and the music selection is generally very good. read more

I can't get enough of this place. The people are awesome and the classes are addictive. I love the Sculpt classes for a really hard amazing weight and cardio workout. I, also, love the C2 classes as a change of pace! When my shoulders can't take another chaturanga I love the Hot Power Fusion classes. The facilities are very clean!!The yoga and locker rooms are very clean and there are enough showers to rinse off after an hour of sweating. They, also, have a good selection of great yoga cloths. I've gone to this studio for a year now and overall I really enjoy it. As others have shared, the physical space is beautiful and clean, the layout is nice, with locker rooms to take a shower and leave your bag during class, and parking is never a problem. Classes are offered throughout the day and vary in style and intensity to meet the needs of most students. The quality of the teachers varies, somewhat substantially. My favorites are Kristina, JJ, and Michael, but there are many other good ones as well. Some of the variation I'm sure is personal preference. For instance, I love assists that help me go deeper into a pose, but not that are constantly correcting me. There is one teacher in particular who never smiles and frequently corrects everyones poses. I'm not saying my poses are always perfect but I am a certified yoga instructor and if I am doing any modifications, it's intentional. The good thing is that there are enough class times that you can usually just go to the classes that you prefer. There is a great place for shoes when you walk in. Unfortunately a lot of people don't use it and I wish the studio did a better job at asking people to leave their shoes there. Now that it is winter, people are tracking in salt and grime all the way into the locker rooms, so if you actually do take off your shoes, the floors aren't clean. I would also love to see the use of toxin/chemical-free cleaners and personal products. I'm chemical sensitive so I can't use the soaps, shampoo, conditioners etc. and I often get a headache and nauseous from the cleaning supplies both in the locker rooms and studios. I think the use of clean products would be an especially good fit for a yoga studio. read more
