This was the best! Stopped into Waxahachie for a festival and came across this place midway through - all the employees are absolutely wonderful and attentive. We did the tasting to figure out what we wanted and everything we tasted was exquisite. Ended up with a bottle which we finished in house, and then got a drink to go. My wife and I have been here three times. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the wine isn't bad, but unfortunately, the owners are typically drunk and very rude to customers so we will not be back. Doug is usually carefree, but his wife will glare at customers and whisper rude things about the patrons to her female sidekick. My wife and I witnessed this during two out of our three visits. She probably should lay off the vodka she keeps in her water bottle and treat her customers better. read more

Fun find in Waxahaxhie! My friend and I stumbled upon this place one evening. They had live music with a guitarist performing inside. We sat at the bar and ordered a flight to try. They make their own wine, and have some very unique flavors. They also have a lite bites menu which we didn't get to try since we had already had dinner. Let me start out by saying that the ambiance of this place is incredibly cozy and friendly! Everyone really was beyond nice. I've been very lucky to visit wineries all over the country including Napa Valley and have to say this is some of the best wine I've ever tasted. The prices are great and the staff, especially Ashley, are knowledgeable and beyond helpful. I recommend the Midnight Sun or the Twisted sister. If you are in Dallas, it's a short 30 minute drive and we'll worth it. read more

Yall, seriously I love this place. Didn't even know Cork House Winery was where it is....never heard of it. Friend of mine had been before so we parked on the square and walked over. They are just a block or so off the main Hachie square. Small and intimate inside, with great décor and they had live music that Friday night. The staff as great and helped us decide on what wines we may like. I got a sampling of 4 wines which = $10 which was nice and then I could decide after that. This would be a great place to rent out and have a private party! The staff here was who suggested Panza's and yeah they have great taste! :) read more

We discovered the Cork House Winery, we were not disappointed. The owners, Karla and Doug make a special effort to greet everyone that comes through the door. Before we left Friday evening we felt we've been coming here for years. The pandemic made them change sales strategies and appears to have worked. They have quality live music Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and I'm sure they have seasonal specials as well. The wine bar which may be expanding their selections to include craft beers for the non juice drinker. (Not sure when this will happen) There's indoor and outdoor seating. We totally enjoyed our evening here, we met a few local couples that added to the fun. If you live in the area don't pass it up, it will become your "Cheers". For us out of towner's we will be back. I can't say enough good Things about this place. After we ate at Panza's I got on Facebook and found out that they were playing live music and we decided to stop in. Within 5 minutes we felt welcomed and at home. I should add, we were tourists for the weekend, and knew nobody. The staff and friends of the staff made us feel like we belonged. We enjoyed great conversation, laughs, music and even when it was time to leave, I didn't want too. If all Owners were like Karla and her staff and friends, the world would be a better place. Did a tasting and she didn't have much to say about the wine. She didn't tell me what she was pouring either, just poured and walked away. 4 tasting was $10. We were the only people in the place so the service should have been impeccable. It wasn't and the wine wasn't that great: found one of 5 that I tried that I enjoyed, however had no snacks, anything to change my palette or pair w the wines as I was trying them. You can't go wrong with the Full Bodied greeting and acceptance you get from the the Cork House Winery. The minute you step into this Happy Place you are immediately treated as if you have been a customer from the very beginning. We did a 4 tasting flight for $8 each. Was very impressed with the girl taking care of us. After our flight we chose a glass each and walked out on the back patio that greets you with a warm and inviting touch. I have been to the Cork House Winery multiple times since it opened. The first thing to remember is that it's a winery, not a restaurant. You go to experience the fabulous wines that they produce. The ambience is top level and the live music they have is an outstanding perk. The decor is immaculate and cozy and the service is above average. Tonight was the first time I've ordered a meat and cheese tray and it was fabulous. The owners, Karla and Doug, are amazing and want you to enjoy yourself and it shows. The people and the atmosphere are amazing. So first let's clear the air; winery, no, winemakers, yes. We did a tasting and then some... I did not sample a wine I did not like. The prices you cannot beat them, most bottles were about $20, a few cheaper and if I remember correctly only 2 bottles were much more. In historic downtown Waxahachie, greatness has arrived in the form of ... a winery! Owners Doug and Karla Gibson opened Cork House Winery about two years ago as a retirement project. Since then, they have worked to create this great addition to the downtown Waxahachie scene. They have really spruced up this site by adding their own décor themes while leaving the exposed bricks that still pay homage to the historic downtown area. You can still see the old tire and lube place name on the bricks by the tasting bar and front window area. Karla is no stranger to winemaking as she had previously been making "amateur" wines beforehand and has won a few awards. Their Texas wines are sourced from Texas High Plains fruit near Brownfield. They currently have just over two dozen wines, so there should surely be something to suit everyone's taste. For the whites, we sampled the Cheek-to-Cheek. This Texas Roussanne has a lovely bouquet or apricots with peach and pear on the palate. The Midnight sun is an off-dry Rosé that is crisp with subtle and smooth strawberry notes. For the red wines, we had to try the Pinot Noir. It was soft, very smooth and easy to drink. The Rowdy Texas is their Malbec wine that features leather and coffee notes and it is a heavy one crafted for those who love robust reds. The Red Beard, a classic Bordeaux style red wine blend, featured Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc and won a Silver medal in the Houston livestock show. We found it to be very well balanced with light tannins and a fine lasting finish. It was our favorite among those we sampled. The GSM version is called Moonlight and has a touch of Cinsault added to the blend, with notes of plum and raspberry that stand out with a touch of smokiness. Finally, we ended off with Casanova - a Cabernet/Zinfandel blend that was aged in bourbon barrel that burst with vanilla and cameral flavors. We truly enjoyed this find and delight in seeing couples successfully shift into the winery business as they continue their journey and add to their story and life's adventures. This winery is a testament to their journey and a welcomed addition to Waxahachie. Cheers! read more

Love this place! The atmosphere is great. Service is excellent and very friendly. It feels like you are at home. The wine is excellent as well. The owners are always on site watching over their business and mingling with the customers. They treat you like family. THey have live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. read more
