This is a great place. Crowded parking but worth attending. Not political rhetoric, tries to stay to Bible truths, encourages love, service, scripture, family, and maintaining a steadfast walk of faith in Christ. This church serves and supports many underserved and nonprofits. Pretty cool! I have been to this church for Easter Service and found the teaching to be exceptional and incredibly interesting. Pastor Jerry gave so much factual evidence relating to evidence of Christ's resurrection; it was intriguing. I've been a Christian a very long time and have heard many Easter Service messages but this one has captured my attention. I've re-listened to it on Podcasts a few times since and listened to many of their podcast messages in addition. It's hard to find pastors to teach from a biblical perspective. Bible teaching church where the pastors truly love the people and preach the saving grace of Jesus Christ. There's something for every age with compassionate people who truly loved our Lord Jesus and seek to let others come to know Him. Amazing music for all ages from the young to us older people who still live to sing the old standards. Fellowship classes for all to help find your own path and continually grow in understanding of God's word. Wish I could do zero. I've given this pastor a chance twice. Both times the message he gave was horribly uneducated and unchristian. He said Disney movies were too feminist and that a wife should have sex with their husbands even if they don't feel like it. I attended this church for my entire childhood. I haven't gone to a service in several years, however, I sometimes check their online sermons. The level of religious trauma this church gave me is unbelievable. Rather than loving yourself and loving others, you are taught to rebuke others for being different. They are overly political, promoting certain politicians that spew racist, homophobic, and overall hateful rhetoric. I am on the autism spectrum and was bullied my entire childhood here; the leaders of the church knew and did nothing. I came out as LGBTQ+ to one of my bible study leaders, and was told I would "grow out of it" and to "not tell anyone". I am still unlearning all of the shame Cornerstone made me feel towards myself. I lived my childhood in fear at this church. Please reconsider going here. read more

Decided to visit the church today. It was mainly an older caucasian congregation. Definitely lacked diversity you see in LB. Typical folks you'd see frequent the Marina and Eastside LB. They have coffee and a a television viewing room, clean bathrooms and orderly church. Aside from the woman in the seat above me putting her foot a few inches from my face, I was dismayed to hear their pastor shame Long Beach Pride, shame the LGBTQ community and mock the options for gender identity in LB schools. It was sad to hear such discriminatory statements in a church. For a quick minute I thought I was somewhere in the deep south. The comments weren't said out of love or concern. It was simply to shame. Needless to say, I won't be going back. Too many church options. I've attended nondenominational church for many years and no pastor ever made me feel like walking out of a service even when talking about the LGBTQ community. This church is an awesome church, and Pastor Jerry always has time to meet with his flock; he has a pastors heart. This church leadership helped me when I really needed it. Had I not had to move, I would still be attending. This church preaches the word of truth. I find it an attack on this congregation about the LBGTQ comments. There are no hateful or insensitive statements, but teach the truth and some people do not want to hear truth because it requires a change in behavior. The church demographics originally had a lot of older white folks, but has been changing over the years. You have to visit more than one service to see that. The church is clean, they always serve coffee and snacks at the services. read more

Traumatized here as a child. To this day I am afraid of other people, and get extremely scared around other Christians. Staff would get into my space as a kid, and touched me in ways that felt incredibly uncomfortable. Since I was only a kid, I thought this was normal. I felt unsafe here. I was afraid that at any minute someone would grab me. They always seemed threatening as well, repelling people from Christianity rather than happily accepting non Christian people. According to this church, if you don't believe in God, you go to hell. Don't pray enough? Hell. This is not a welcoming community. This is the place that made me fear Christianity. I am now 16 and I still often relive the horrible things I have experienced here. I have been attempting to get closer to God but every single time I feel like I have accomplished a good relationship with God, I think of what happened to me here and have to start over. read more

My friend and I have been church hopping to find a church we connect with to call our home the last few weeks. Today we came to this church and the pastor was talking about what husbands needs to do for their wives. The pastor made certain comments and gestures that were insensitive to the LGBTQ community here and there and it was de-validating to someone new coming in who may be a part of that community. It is 100% possible to be a part of the LGBTQ community and have so much love for God and desire a relationship with Him. I was saddened at the fact that same-sex marriages were brought up and mocked with the pastor making "air quote" gestures when saying the word marriage, implying that if you're in love and married and you are gay or lesbian it is not a real marriage. To me, I value a church that is diverse and welcoming of all backgrounds and does not shame people for who they are or where they come from. One of the biggest commandments is loving your neighbors. I am not even a part of the LGBTQ community myself but I felt the shame and judgement around them. read more

I have been to many, many churches in my life. This is one of the few that teaches the unvarnished word of God with no apologies. I've seen many comments on Yelp about the church's insensitivity to the LGBTQ community or lack of diversity. The leadership of the church does not recognize or consider the desires of any socio-political organizations or a need to actively represent the diversity of the local community. That is clear to me and welcome. God's word is clearly first. I've heard a few testimonials of some members that came from same-sex communities. There are people of every creed, color, culture and age. I am half-black and half-white with very long dreadlocks and my wife is part Native American with Fuchsia hair and we were welcomed with open arms. I just want to stand up and clearly say that the short time that I've been going to Cornerstone has proven to me that God's word and God's love comes first there, everything else is secondary. read more

This church is not very friendly. I drive a truck and had to use the restroom and parked here to use restroom at fantastic cafe as soon as I got out of my truck I was immediately confronted by a lady that asked me "Can I help you" I explained to her that I was going to fantastic cafe to use the restroom. She replied that I could not park there and waited until I left. As a truck driver I can only use the bathroom where I can park. This lady with blond hair did not even offer to let me use the churches so I ask you was you action the same actions Jesus would have demonstrated is that kind of behavior the behavior of a church. The amazing Children's Ministry is what first got us going to this church via AWANA in 2012. But when we heard Pastor Jerry taught the Bible, we knew this was going to be our home church. We saw the love of Christ in the staff and members. We are so glad that we serve here and love being part of the Cornerstone family. read more

As much as I enjoy going to church every week, I especially like going to churches that have a Saturday evening service as an option. I was pleasantly surprised that Cornerstone Church has a Saturday night service, so I decided to check them out last night. When I arrived around 5:50 p.m., I pulled into the parking lot and noticed that there were already quite a number of people who had arrived. The church moved to its current facility at the corner of Studebaker and Anaheim in December of 2006. My initial impression of the church facility is that it's new, clean and modern. Cornerstone Church is a Bible-teaching church and the lead pastor is Dr. Jerry Rueb. Pastor Jerry is a very good teacher and presents the Bible in a clear and easily understandable way. This church does topical teaching as opposed to expositional, verse-by-verse teaching. The church bulletins everyone receives upon entering the main sanctuary contain the sermon notes and they highlight the main points the pastor touches on. The church offers a variety of ministries for men, women and children in any life stage. They also make it a point to serve in the local community, which every church should do. As far as the demographics of the congregation, I noticed that there were a lot of primarily white senior citizens (nothing wrong with that, just an observation). There is a good mix of ages and ethnic backgrounds here. The dress code here seems to be "beach casual" with many people wearing shorts and flip-flops. I feel the individual church attendees could have been a little more welcoming to a first-time visitor like me. Fortunately, I sat next to a nice couple and was able to chat with the husband prior to the service starting. Overall, I did enjoy the teaching and my visit here. It's good to know that there's a church I can attend on Saturdays if I know ahead of time I won't be able to go to my home church on Sundays. I plan on returning and hopefully will write a follow-up review and raise my star rating then. read more

The thing that instantly turned me off to this church was the demographics. Everywhere I go.......work, the gym, the grocery store, hanging out with friends I am in the minority as a white person. I'm rarely in a position inwhich I'm with all white people. We are in Long Beach, California. There is no reason this church should be an ALL white community. There should be racial diversity. I have so many diverse unbelieving friends I would never be able to bring them here, because I wouldn't want them to feel the slightest bit out of place. In heaven there will be no gentile or jew, slave or free. So what are you doing Cornerstone to break down racial and ethnic barriers which is such a big issue in this world? read more
