This review solely is in regards to my experience with Dave Keen and his office. I have been a customer of Allstate for a very long time and there are plenty of quality staff members within this company. I have been insured by Allstate for the past 12 years. Dave Keen has handled my auto, home, business and commercial policies for the past 8 years (during that time I have spent approx 150K in insurance premiums). During these eight years his office has made many mistakes. Not only with my personal Auto policies, but also numerous times with my contractor's insurance. I am a construction contractor. In the state of Washington we are required to maintain and keep up-to-date with our insurance and bonding in order to keep our contractor's license active. Every year for the past three years Dave Keen's office has failed to report to L&I that our contractors insurance is up-to-date and paid in full. The result of this has caused L&I to suspend my license every single year for at least 10 days each year. For the past 3 years I have had my contractor's license suspended for at least 40 days. Every year I was promised by Dave Keen that his office would handle this and each and every year his office has dropped the ball..... If he would have let me know that they weren't going to handle this for me, I could have handled it myself and avoided my contractor's license being suspended each and every year. Having my contractors license suspended at any point puts my business a great risk! I can not advertise, estimate or perform work on jobs without an active contractors license. Every single year I would not be made aware that my contractor's license was suspended (and of the failures of Dave Keen's office) until at least a week and a half after it had already been suspended. This made me vulnerable to hefty fines and also lawsuits. I was patient with him every year, but after the third year I got a little fed up. I asked him to make it right with me and he basically told me that he has too much on his plate and to take my business elsewhere. He also THREATENED legal action against me if I wrote any bad reviews (that would hurt his business)!! Where does this guy think we live? This is America and I am free to warn consumers of the risks when dealing with Dave Keen and his office.. His threats of legal action to silence me is completely unprofessional and out of line!! All I wanted from him was a little reimbursement for all the days and mistakes that his office made with my policies and communications with L&I. I didn't ask for anything when he made these mistakes in all the years prior, but I think after 3 years in a row of dropping the ball any business owner would feel the right thing to do would be to offer a little refund. None of us get paid for failing to provide a service that is not up to standards. What makes Dave Keen think he is any different?? If he would have handled this for me properly I would have continued on with him and everything would have been just fine. I am an understanding person and also very loyal to anybody I do business with. One thing that I do expect when I conduct business with people is that when mistakes are made, that they are dealt with appropriately. Dave Keen is all about profit margins and has no customer service whatsoever. Sometimes bending a little bit can get you a lot further in business.. It's apparent that he would rather end on a bad note. It's also unfortunate that now I'm going to need to file suit in court to recover the money that is owed to me. He is a terrible businessman and I would not recommend anybody hiring Dave Keen or his office to handle any of their insurance needs!!
