I hired them for a large job. They did a good job although they charged a lot of money. I tried to hire them for a smaller job (and to also fix a minor defect on the previous job) and they blew me off. I understand that painting companies have minimums, but other painting companies were interested in accepting this smaller job. It appears that they are only interested in the big score. read more

Mike and his team were all incredibly professional and did amazing work. We had done some demo in our home in order to put new cabinets in, and because of the age of the home and the many layers of plaster, the drywall work that needed to be done was not a huge area, but was incredibly difficult. Multiple other drywall companies didn't want to take the job, but Mike took one look and said "That won't be a problem." In addition to the drywall, the painters got everything exactly right. We had been burned by painters in the past who put colors on the wrong walls, etc., and we were nervous that it would happen again. But we were very wrong! Not a single issue with paint location, and there were no drips or bleed onto other walls. I was expecting to pay a lot more for the amount of work that needed to be done, but it was reasonable and Mike gave me the estimate in person on the spot. Will & Josh installed the drywall in our basement, which was a large project with lots of corners and cutouts - about 130 sheets of drywall. It took them less than two weeks, and they did a great job. They were very polite and mostly kept to themselves while my wife and I worked from home, other than to occasionally ask questions about the job. Drywalling is a very messy job, and they cleaned up after themselves as well as can be expected at the end of each day. They were very respectful of our home, were careful to minimize messes, and their final cleanup was thorough. We received some lower quotes from other companies, but we found Mike's attention to detail and use of superior products reassuring. For example, we wanted 5/8" drywall on the ceilings, and other contractors were only willing to do 1/2". We also saved quite a bit of money by purchasing the drywall ourselves and having it delivered ahead of time. I had a really great experience with Mike. He showed up when he said he would, took care of the job quickly, and was very good with my dogs. He performed a ceiling repair for me, which required re-texturing the ceiling. Now that it's complete, you can't tell that there was ever any damage. He even patched up few hairline cracks that I hadn't even noticed, until he pointed them out. As you would hope, he was good about wearing a mask when he came cover. The only issue I had was in getting the initial quote (which, honestly, was a problem with the other two contractors I contacted via Yelp). We had to go back and forth a few times to get an actual price and schedule a time and I had to send a reminder email or two. I'm glad I stuck with it, since the final price seemed fair and the work seems to be of good quality, but if the other contractors hadn't been just as difficult to get quotes from, we probably would have gone with someone else. read more

We're renovating our kitchen and a bathroom in a 50's ranch. We had torn down walls to the studs and had big holes in the ceiling from removed soffits. Cornerstone was the second Drywall company we contacted and their quote came in under the first bid, even though it included additional services such as painting the ceiling and didn't require any additional prep work on our part. The work was tedious as it required using drywall of different thickness and double layers in some areas to accommodate new cabinets and tie into existing plaster walls and ceilings. To eliminate the issue of matching ceiling texture, Mike proposed skim coating the ceilings of linked rooms so that the ceiling texture was uniform. The drywall/painting team that began work on our project had a couple issues that marred the result of their hard work. The team seemed focused on speed of work instead of quality, with the result of some details being missed. Examples would be ceiling LED placement, wrong drywall thickness in a key area, and dings in the ceiling. These issues were identified by Mike during inspection and he immediately took over the project himself. He also didn't recommend things that weren't needed. For instance, a family member said (without seeing it) that I should also get my ceilings done. Mike at Cornerstone was AWESOME! We have a custom mahogany exterior front door-sidelight-transom unit whose finish was deteriorating badly after just 3.5 years of being installed. Even though it was sheltered by an upper porch, the finish was eroding and the stain was bleaching out and turning a sickly green color. Mike came to look at the door and determined that the maker had used a water based stain and finish. After much research, Mike came up with an oil based stain and varnish that were highly durable and had high UV ratings. He meticulously stripped the old finish and stain, then repeatedly wiped down the door to remove all the previous residue. He then applied the new stain and 3 layers of varnish. We are thrilled with the project! It took us forever to find someone to do the work properly. Mike even contacted the maker of the door, confirmed what products were needed and stripped and refinished the door to a beautiful conclusion. We highly recommend Mike and Cornerstone. Mike did a fantastic job at our house repairing nearly 50 holes in our drywall and ceilings. Our home was built with Kitec/IPEX water lines which are defective. We had a plumber run new lines which created access holes throughout the house. Mike fixed them all and even retextured the ceiling holes to where you can't even tell any work was done at all.
