I don't make it out here very often since I have a membership with Cinemark and usually go there…read morefor most movies. But I've always liked the experience at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. Service has always been good and the food I've had in the past has been solid. My most recent visit was this past Saturday. We arrived about thirty minutes early like they recommend. One thing I really enjoy here is the pre-show. They play old trailers and clips, sometimes in their original languages, and it adds a real nostalgia factor for film nerds like me. We had already eaten lunch before the movie so we didn't order any full meals, but their popcorn is excellent. The real butter makes a difference. Ordering was simple through the phone system at the table. For refills or additional items, you fill out the little paper cards and the servers quietly grab them during the movie. Everything came out quickly and the staff stayed friendly and efficient the whole time. The place is always clean and well taken care of. The staff seem to always be in good spirits, which really adds to the overall experience. The seats are the more traditional movie theater style, so if you're used to the newer reclining seats that many theaters have now, that might take a little adjustment. Overall it's a great and unique movie experience. It's also nice not being packed into a loud theater. I really appreciate their strict no-talking and no-cell-phone policy too.
