I love this park. It's beautiful and full of history. You can hike the easy flat loop and read the plaques as you walk the path. It's a learning experience and an easy hike all in one. So much history here with the old tv and movies that they used to film. At one point they had a watering hole set up to film underwater scenes and you can see the remnants of where they did it. The one main loop is very shaded which is nice, especially if you want to hike on a warmer day. They have beautiful rock formations with some caves. They also have park benches and picnic tables along the way to sit and rest and take in the beautiful scenery. I found a nice shaded picnic spot and had a surprise Mother's Day picnic with the trees and stream as a beautiful backdrop. My mom really enjoyed our day here. The only downfall is what it used to be. It's sad that a fire went through here and burned a lot of the set buildings they used to have . I wish I had seen it before that all happened. This is a hidden gem, for those locals who have spent some healthy quality time hiking/picnicking these historic grounds. I love that whenever I see graffiti anywhere, I call the graffiti hot-line and "poof" within days it is gone. I also greatly appreciate the amazing trees that provide some cooling shade, on hot summer days. Be careful of rattlesnakes, as this is definitely their home-turf! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this area actually turned out to be based on the little I'd read. I thought it was just a little plot of land where they did some movies and stuff, so it was never high on my list to visit, but during June gloom, it gets hard to be motivated early in the morning, so I have a figured it would be a good day to go check this out and I ended up hiking all over the place and under the freeway through the wildlife corridor into Rocky Peak park and then back under. Well maintained, lots of hiking, lots of beauty, good amount of history placards placed about, but could use more. Overall, not matter your hiking level, I think you'll be pleasantly pleased by your outing here in Corriganville! read more

Easy walk with some light elevation and lots of history behind this park. Old movies were filmed here, and luckily the grounds have remained for all of us to enjoy. The old oak trees are magnificent. As you stroll along, there are informative signs that explain what you're seeing. Enjoyed seeing the old movie sets and bridges, imagining what life was like before all the technology available to us today. Parking is plentiful and shade abounds. Stop for a few moments, breathe deeply and listen to the sounds of the birds singing. You'll thank me later. Keep your dogs on leash as well as your children close by, as rattlers are in the area. read more

A nice local park in Simi Valley on the opposite side of the 118 where Rocky Peak and Hummingbird trail are. The loop trail on the All Trails app is about 1.75 miles, but there are some extra trail paths in the park that you can take to explore. Everyone I saw around the park were nice and friendly, a local spot where people were mostly on a relaxed stroll or walking their dog. There are a few areas in the park where you can get some good hiking pictures, and I'd imagine during a time a year when we actually have some rain the park looks better than it currently does in 2021. read more

We came today trying to find the poppies. My friend couldn't go on much longer so we couldn't find them. It is a nice park, we got a nice little hike in. Our dogs loved it too! Parking was easy. This was a second option for today's hike. First one ended up being closed and marked off at the entrance. It's crazy how certain places are so near to things that you never knew it was there. This trail/park was literally minutes from a friends place that I've driven by so many time. Compare to others trails around the area, it's way more easy and simple. There's a pretty big dirt lot for parking. The entrance is nice walk to get to picnic area which is scattered throughout. The trails there was quite nice and simple. Your walking through the rocky peak area. Paths are nice and wide. Still nice and green and luscious. I don't think the trails go that far though. The one we did looped around and brought you back to the begging. There's signs posted through the park area telling you about plants and trees. Also, there's a cave at the top of the hill. Easy climb up to check it out. Once there, the view is amazing. Just nice and quiet and quaint. Trails does lead you to residential area. So, there must have been a few different entrance to get in and out. This place is nice and quite and an easy trail. read more

I couldn't of had an emergency in the more better looking park. I had to go to the restroom emergency status. So grateful after walking into the restroom they were so nice for a park.This place was literally like five streets away from the Airbnb that we got for the night. I had no idea that Corriganville Park was once the Corriganville Movie Ranch and was the filming site for over 3,500 movies, TV programs and commercials. That alone is impressive. The trails are easy and wide. The trail starts from the parking lot and branches off which is great if you want to have a sense of privacy as you soak in the environment. Several signs provide info about film locations and wildlife along the way. Dogs are allowed on a leash. My recommendation is to pack a lunch. There are plenty of picnic tables and park benches with backrests to relax and enjoy along the trail. I'll definitely come back in the near future. read more

So happy I found this park. Just absolutely peaceful and so beautiful. You can see and hear so many different birds. Relatively easy to find with the phone's navigation system. I didn't get lost even though I'm not familiar with the area. The 45 mins drive from Ventura was totally worth it. I've been wanting to see some wildflowers, and the California poppies are popping here. Unfortunately, some dingbats have trampled over some of the flowers, however, plenty have been left untouched. Don't be a dingbat. Don't pick or walk over the flowers. Many benches to stop and rest if you get too hot or wish to picnic. The only bathroom I saw was a ports potty and it was stinky and kinda full. Take your own tissues and hand sanitizer. You can clearly see where the fire passed last November, but the recent rains have made the rebirth of the greenery possible so your eyes will feast. We were lucky to see a train as it passed along, too. read more

It was interesting to learn that from 1940 to 1965 Corriganville Park was a working film studio and movie ranch, as well as a Western-themed tourist attraction. The site was owned by the actor and stuntman Ray "Crash" Corrigan. "Silvertown" was the name of the western street that held a saloon, hotel, jail, and a bank. There was also an Army fort, called "Fort Apache," and Mexican village. In 1965 the property was sold to Bob Hope. In the 1970s two different fires destroyed all of the structures. The site was later bought by the city and turned into the park that it is today. It was fun to walk through the park and view all of the concrete and brick foundations which are the remains of the movie and theme park buildings. It was also interesting learning that TV shows, such as "The Lone Ranger," were filmed there. You can still see the remnants of what used to be a concrete pool that was built for water scenes. There was also an underwater room with portholes on the side walls that was used to film underwater scenes. The pool was used in the movie, "The Creature From the Black Lagoon." For me Corriganville Park was also a gateway to Rocky Peak Park. There is a path in the rear of the park that takes you to a tunnel that delivers you below the 118 freeway and meets up with the trail. read more

We stumbled upon the interesting piece of Hollywood history by accident. We were actually looking for a different hiking trail; but as in life, we don't always end up were we are heading... and those journeys are always the ones that promise great memories. This trail is located off the 118 freeway off Kuehner Dr. From there you turn on to Smith Rd and keep going straight for approximately half a mile. You will see the parking lot on the left. Most of the park is under shade, with no incline...making it perfect for jogging. Just don't jog too fast or you will miss all the interesting plaques placed throughout the park. One of my favorite parts of the park was the concrete pool. I had no idea, but apparently many underwater scenes where filmed here. You can still the ports were the cameras were placed. It was just really neat to walk around. We continued exploring the park and made our way through a very colorful tunnel under the freeway. The tunnel was like walking through a contemporary art gallery. Some of the people who used the concrete wall as their canvas showed potential. I am not exactly sure if its still considered Corriganville park once you exit the tunnel on the other side of the freeway. But if you have the time to keep exploring you really should. There are many trails promising gorgeous views. The trails are a little challenging at times just due to the incline, but worth the trek. There are plenty of neat caves just waiting to be crawled through. Also at some point the trail turns into the Rocky Peak trail. This particular trail seems to have no end. This park is definitely worth visiting. Also I suggest researching it a little before you come, there are so many interesting facts about this area. Learning about it is half the fun. read more

I visited today for the first time. Really enjoyed it. We hiked to the poppies which was a fairly easy hike (I don't hike very often). It was pretty crowded with a lot of people going to see the poppies but we easily found street parking. We took the wrong trail at first. I think that the poppies are off of the Interpretive Trail. It was neat to see the remains of the old movie sets. There is also a lot of areas that were burnt in the Woolsey fire but they are growing back. read more

This is one of the gems of Simi Valley. A gorgeous setting with a variety of trails depending on what you want on a given day - short, medium, longer, flat, slight incline or hike up to the freeway from several directions. You can do a simple mile-long flat loop of you just want some fresh air, or spend half a day just cruising around the hills. Then you add the historical aspect of old films and a theme park (sure wish I would have been around to see that!) and the informational signs on the Interpretive Trail and Corriganville has something for everyone! I absolutely love this park, as it is one of the more unique ones out there. It has the ruins of the old Corriganville movie ranch that used to be here, along with a crazy man-made lake with an underwater camera room so underwater scenes could be filmed. I love that there are plaques to show you where things once stood to give you a feel for what it was like back in the 1950s. The trails are nice, and wide for the most part. It's perfect for a day spent hiking or a location for photos, or if you like movie and TV history. read more

This is my favorite trail, it's close to home and its an all level hiking trail, from the walker to the extreme climb this park has it, its also pet friendly my little dog enjoys it very much, they also have doggie bags at the entrance of the trail. Used as a western setting for hundreds of movies and TV shows in the 1940's and 50's, this park wreaks history of the old west in hollywood. It spawns 190 acres and it offers visitors several recreational activities, hiking trails, picnic areas, park benches, restrooms, and drinking fountains. Dogs are allowed throughout the park and on the trails. Dogs must be under their owner's immediate control, leashed, and cleaned up after. Some of the trails and open areas have old foundations with plaques that describe what once stood there. There are several trails to choose from. Absolutely love this place. It is not a groomed grass setting, it is very natural with a few man made oddities left over from what must have been hundreds of movies filmed here. We let our dogs off the leash, which I realize we are not supposed to, and carry their leashes in hand. At sight of other hikers, or dogs, we call our dogs over and leash them up. They love it. Other hikers and dog walkers are friendly and respectful of us, our dogs and nature. I do end up picking up a little trash on every hike and trow it away and the readily available trash cans. read more

A true hidden gem on the east side of Simi Valley. I grew up coming here on school field trips and later, walking there with friends or my dog for mini escapes. Still do the mini escapes here when I'm visiting my parents. The park has several entrances you can walk to, including one in the Hope Town housing tract (up Sandalwood Dr.) but the main entrance off of Smith Rd. has a large dirt parking lot that is probably your best bet for driving. There's a looping trail that's about a mile of easy walking with plenty of shade and good dog watching. It's relatively flat and smooth, so suitable for kids and running, too. There are several parts of the trail that branch off onto longer trails, like the one that takes you under the 118 through the animal underpass, and another to Hummingbird trail, and at least one that goes into another residential area as well. It's a nice park to explore, and relatively safe given the close distance to neighborhoods and good phone service. At the same time, I've never gone here and not seen at least one other person walking or hanging out, so don't expect total solitude. I have seen a couple rattlesnakes around dusk in late summer, so it is still kind of wild--don't let your guard completely down. Plus, if you're not paying close attention you might miss some cuter animals like rabbits and birds. read more

Whoaaa!!! I always come to the SFV to visit my parents who live near Chatsworth, so I've come to Simi Valley a couple of times and always see this park off the free way kind of. It was Thanksgiving break and I wanted to go on a nice bike ride through some trails and looked this place up. I'm so glad I did! The yelp address took me to the entrance in a Neighborhood, so it was street parking. However, the streets were pretty empty and the neighborhood was nice so I didn't mind. Coming up the first hill, you can see how big this place is. There are A LOT of trails and there's a lot of free range to explore so I really liked that about this place. I biked up and down for about 15-20 minutes, stopped to take pictures (there are a lot of picturesque settings here) and got to the end of one trail which looked like it was another entrance. On the first ride, the trail was really smooth and only had minor inclines/declines so it was a nice ride. I saw a couple bridges, the old movie sets, a lot of information stands about what you're seeing, and of course, nature! Once I got to one end, I took another trail and followed up a sign that said 'loop trail'. I was hoping it would loop back to the trail I had taken at the entrance, but it didn't! And I must have gotten turned around because after biking another distance, I didn't know where I was! Long story short, I walked through another trail and another section of the park and ended up on a neighborhood about 3 miles away from where I parked. Luckily I was on my bike so I got back to my car in around 10 minutes haha (embarrassing). So if it's your first time, make sure you don't wander too far past a comfortable half way point. I went back inside because I wanted to check out the second abandoned movie set. After another 10 minute ride and a couple pictures, I went back to my car. What I liked about this trail was the diversity you don't get on some other mountain hikes (which are just hills up and down). You can make it as difficult, easy, short or long as you want here. I'm so glad I found a cool spot so close to my parents house! I'll definitely be coming back here :D read more

Discovered this place from 7 AM Saturday track & field practices. If you're in the mood to work out, run up to the water tower and do hill repeats -- you will be panting before you even get half way up. Overall the trails are pretty smooth and easy to run on, without too many rocks trying to sabotage you. The hikes are fun and informative, with random run-down structures that each have stories attached to them. Its also really easy to find little caves you could sit in and see drawings- probably not from hundreds of years ago but still interesting to see. Covering this entire park would take days, so if you want to explore all of it be sure to show up early. You can climb up to the higher parts and get an awesome view of the sun going down! read more

One of my sons who is a teenager came to this park to film a homework assignment for history class. The park is amazing and everyone one there including Simi Valley Police were very nice. The park caretaker a foreign language speaking man was very rude to my son and my wife yelling and screaming at them to leave because they had no film permit. This was NOT a commercial shoot. 3-4 teen kids with 1 non-professional camera filming a homework assignment. Ray "Crash" Corrigan and Bob Hope the prior owners would probably be rolling in their graves if they saw in which the manner this man acted toward kids. read more

I go hiking there all the time and it's a lot of fun. i definitely recommend this park 100%. when i went, there was hiking trails with little posts that tell you about the area and what animals live there. if you go deep enough there's caves with carvings which is pretty interesting but all in all i would definitely go hiking there if i were you. read more
