We've been taking our Yorkshire Terrier here for 8 years and have always been happy with the quality of her haircut and the quality of her care. Our dog can be a bit of a diva to put it nicely and they are patient and kind and don't rush through the haircut and upset her. If she's having a bad day they will let her go chill out and come back and finish later. I can't stress enough how amazing that is---they care more about the dog's well being than getting the grooming done as quickly as possible. If it takes 2-3 hours then that is what it takes and I love that they put the dog first. They also have washing stations where you can bring in your muddy mutt and wash them yourself. It means you won't have to make a mess in your bathroom and they have everything you'd need. They also offer kenneling, doggy daycare and a full shop on site with food, snacks and other pet accessories. I can't recommend it enough and I'd never think of taking our dog anywhere else.

Whilst they do use a positive reinforcement method, and it IS a safe space for socialisation, we…read morefound it a little chaotic. The primary contact refuses to use email (everything has to be arranged via phone) and is very abrupt; I also found her to be extremely patronising. Furthermore, there was some mis-information issued, such as "teaching your dog to give paw will mean they jump up on everyone". Maybe it just takes a while to warm up, however after 2 weeks and a significant amount of thinking, I don't think we'll be returning.

We've taken our 2 year old golden retriever to A Closer Bond Dog Training for puppy training, the…read moreresidency program and agility training. She's a smart dog, but it was a challenge to train me to handle a big dog and they succeeded. Abby goes to the Bond for Doggie Day Care a day or two a week and she not only loves the exercise and attention, but the socialization is great for her. We take her there to be groomed and have boarded her on occasion. I can honestly say A Closer Bond has helped us immensely. Our previous golden was not as well behaved at 4 as Abby was at 1. I'm looking forward to more agility training and trick training. A Closer Bond is a warm place with skilled employees who seem to just love their clients and the dogs seem to love being there.

The group walks have been really good for Liesel's confidence, not to mention she absolutely adores Suzanne (we met her by chance on a walk the other day, and Liesel was desperate to leave with her rather than me...). Suzanne has a lovely calm, confident presence and we trust her completely. She even gave us a wee framed picture of Liesel out on one of her walks for Christmas... Highly highly recommend!!

I was able to arrange for Ana to come and meet my girl beforehand and Ana and my girl, Molly hit it off straight away. Molly's walks started a while ago now and I've never been let down. Jacqui looked after our little rescue dog for a few nights just a month after we rescued him. We…read morewere worried about how it would go but what can I say, Jacqui has worked a miracle. The timid little dog has come on leaps and bounds in his confidence and his behaviour with other dogs. Jacqui told us in her professional opinion that he could be walked off the lead and she was right. She sent us loads of video and told us how she managed him off the lead. His recall is brilliant and we've worked on the building blocks she gave us. He even eats better now. I can't thank Jacqui enough for the love and care she showed him and for the confidence she has given us. We will continue with the work she started and are eternally grateful.

I had a look around (despite looking like a bit of a wierdo without a dog) and I left bewildered as to what the point of the place is! It's one thing getting a new haircut for yourself or livening up your wardrobe with some new clothes, but why pamper your dog?! I just don't understand who benefits from it. It's not as if it's a medical necessity either like, say, checking their teeth or whatever. Anyway, they offer to wash your dog for which can cost anything from £10-20 depending on the size of the dog. This can include conditioning its coat, cutting any loose bits of hair - a whole plethora of trivial things. I'm not a fan, but if you think your dog needs a new(ish) look then this is the place.

With Special doggy shampoo, that will make all the other dog's jelous. The scariest part is, I saw one of the staff talking away to the dog as she was grooming...like having a conversation with it. Not for me.

And after my visit I was astonished at how much people spoil there dogs. Joanne's Dog Grooming Salon offers a range of services including hair trimming and various kinds of sprays which apparently improve the dog's coat. On top of that you can also buy collars, brushes, various shampoos (there are actually dog only shampoos!) and toys. The staff in the shop was very helpful, trying to promote what services were on offer at the store. It also sells gift vouchers for those who have know idea what their dog wants for their birthday or Christmas! So if you have a dog and you want to spoil them I would imagine that this saloon would certainly do that!

Dexter (the mutt) smells divine every time I pick him up and he is groomed fantastically. The girls here even give him a wee style with the hair on top of his head...too cute! Now i haven't actually been anywhere else for dog grooming before so I have no yard stick when it comes to its cost. £40 seems relatively reasonable given the quality of job that is done. Plus Joanne herself is a world champ at dog grooming....something to think about :) Anyway, it has my stamp of approval for sure.
