Both my husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the wines at Corteau. We did a tasting so we were able to try them all. If you like sweet wines, this probably isn't the place for you. Although they did say the keep simple syrup on hand for people who want to make the wine sweeter. The tasting room was spacious and there are both indoor and outdoor seating options. The woman we did our tasting with was knowledgeable and friendly. My only complaint was the cost. We did a tasting, had a glass of wine and bought some bottles and found the prices across the board to be high, but especially for the tasting and glasses. Next time, I would just buy a bottle since we know what we like.

Continuing on this wine journey of mine. Stop #13. This place has been on my list to come and sip and see. I finally made it. And I am glad I came today. The land is absolutely beautiful. The vines. The everything is beautiful. They had entertainment and a food truck on sight. What more can you ask for. Lol. I did the wine tasting of 5 of their 8 wines. And I was very impressed. If you don't like semi dry to dry wines then this place is not for you, you will need to grow your pallet lol. Their wine is delicious. I want to walk away with all 8 but I know my husband would look at me crazy . I did leave with 2 bottles. The Vidal blanc and admirals blend. I also did a sangria tasting. And that did not disappoint. The only downfall is that they don't bottle and sell the sangria. I asked lol. I did a glass of the blood orange sangria. The inside is so comfy and chill. They have the patio as well. So there is plenty of room for all. Julia my wine guide was very helpful. If you are in the area or not be sure to stop by. Sip and see the land and wine.....

This is a charming winery in Southern Maryland with a great selection of whites, reds, rosés, and sangrias.

(3 out of 5 stars)…read more We had actually tried to visit Xella Winery once before, but the parking was so limited (including handicap parking) that we ended up leaving and going elsewhere. Months later, the winery popped up on social media again, so we decided to try our luck. The owner was incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Just an overall really nice guy. The wines were good, which (as a regular winery visitor) is critical because I've been to plenty of wineries that have a fun atmosphere but underwhelming wine. That wasn't the case here. The wine slushies were the real champs, though. They were absolutely delicious and we had both of their offerings. For me, one of the major pluses is that the winery is pet friendly, which we appreciated since we brought our puppy. Unfortunately, he kept finding small plastic caps on the grass that looked like light bulb covers, which meant we had to constantly keep an eye on what he was trying to pick up. That was not so appreciated. The atmosphere simply wasn't quite for me. The space is relatively small (which is fine, I generally enjoy that type of environment) but it became fairly loud during our visit. It's also very family friendly, which I know many people will enjoy, but personally I prefer a quieter winery experience rather than sipping wine with children running around nearby. There were also some practical frustrations. The outdoor tables have umbrellas, but the wind continuously yanked ours up out of the table and nearly knocking things over. I eventually found myself crawling under the table trying to adjust it, which wasn't exactly how I planned to spend part of a wine tasting. There are certainly things to like here: friendly ownership, good wines, excellent slushies, and a welcoming environment. However, the parking limitations, noise level, loose umbrellas, and concerns about debris on the ground make it unlikely that I'll return. However, families looking for a casual and family friendly winery experience may enjoy it much more than I did. For those I would say it's well worth the visit!

There are many places to lounge outside and listen to live music and enjoy the view. Inside is quite small, only fits enough for maybe one group at a time but is delightfully decorated and very clean. My friend and I chose to do the full tasting of wines from the vineyard. All of the whites and the rose were really refreshing and delicious. I was not a fan of the reds, however, I have yet to find an MD red wine that I enjoy, so maybe it's me. The ONLY reason this does not get 5 starts is the limited food selection. They do sell pre-packaged hummus, cheese and crackers as well as packaged cured meats from a little fridge inside the winery, however I would love to see this expand into a bigger selection and/or food trucks on site. All in all my favorite part of this experience (aside from the beautiful grounds) was the Wine Slushy. I got strawberry one and it was fantastic!!

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Two Lions Vineyards…read more My group visited expecting a relaxing afternoon at a winery. Instead, we were repeatedly approached about reserving a table in the glass house with a $600 minimum spend. We declined because we simply wanted to enjoy wine like we have at many other wineries. One of the most surprising things was their policy requiring reservations for groups of eight or more. In my opinion, that's unusual for a winery. I've visited many wineries throughout Maryland and Virginia, and I've never encountered a policy like this. As soon as our group reached eight people, it felt like staff were watching us constantly. We couldn't even socialize with other guests without being approached by staff, who questioned whether we knew them and repeatedly reminded us that our group had reached the limit of eight people. We felt singled out and closely monitored throughout our visit. The constant attention made what should have been a relaxing afternoon feel stressful and uncomfortable, so our group made the decision to leave. To make matters worse, after we left I received an email from the owner accusing me of disrupting operations, harming their business, violating their policies, and demanding that I remove references to the winery from my event listing. I strongly disagree with those accusations and found the tone of the email to be unnecessarily hostile, especially since our group chose to leave rather than continue our visit. In my opinion, this establishment feels much more like a lounge or private event venue than a traditional winery. If you're looking for the welcoming, laid-back experience that most wineries provide, I would recommend visiting one of the many other wineries in the area instead.
