It is well worth making the turn off the main strip because you will find quite a few treasures here. The store is located in a historic building from 1918 that was formerly owned Henry W. who operated the H.W. Rice Garage and Machine Shop. The business was later owned by Lewis Bishop who invented the rotary mower that revolutionized mowing grass. On the side of the building is ample parking. On the first floor of the building you will find room upon room of all kinds of bric-a-brac, furniture, jewelry, home goods, and collectibles. The store had quite a few vintage Christmas items which set it apart from some of the other stores I visited during my stay. You never know what you will find which is what makes the hunt so fun.

The owners go to NY, Brimfield, etc., to bring these treasures back to SWFl. I have been here are several occasions and leave with something. Either as a gift, project or new addition to my home. Any friend who has come with me has also purchased and wants to know when we are returning! By far the best shop in Arcadia!

This antique store has been in business since 2003. The owner named the store for her Florence ceramic figurine, Abigail. Inside the store you can find several rooms stuffed to the ceiling with glass ware, collectibles, home goods, jewelry, and furniture. They had a nice selection of Highwaymen paintings hanging on the wall for sale. I had a lovely time talking with the lady running the counter about the history of Arcadia. She told me several interesting stories. I loved my time exploring Abigail's.

Arcadia…read morewas destroyed in a fire in 1905 and the buildings on Oak Street are from the early 1900's when the city was rebuilt. This store is located in the L.L. Morgan building which was the first building to be rebuilt after the fire. The upper facade of the building bears Morgans name and the 1906 date. On the first floor Morgan sold hardware and furniture and the top floor was the mortuary. When you look in the back on the first floor you can still see the pulley system that was used to hoist the bodies up to the top floor! I had a wonderful time visiting with Glenda who is the owner of this store. She told me how she used to have a Sear catalog business and rent to own business before selling antiques. In addition to selling her own items she also rents space to other vendors. Only the first floor of the building is open and she is using the two upper floors for storage. In the store you will find several rooms stuffed with housewares, furniture, bric-a-brac, jewelry, books, and a ton of other stuff. If you are interested in history she sells two great books about Arcadia on her counter. I was interested in the vintage Pyrex dishes in the hard to find turquoise snowflake pattern with glass lid. It is a rare color and even harder to find with a lid. The seller wanted top dollar and after a quick phone call she refused to budge on the price so I passed. I am still looking for a bargain. Although I left empty handed meeting Glenda was a highlight of my trip. There is so much to explore here and Glenda is wonderful about providing information on the items in her store and about Arcadia.

Oak Street Treasures is part of the approximately 20 antique stores on and around Oak Street in…read morehistoric downtown Arcadia. Arcadia burned down in a fire in 1905 so most of the buildings in the downtown were built after then. This three story building was built by two fraternal organizations, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) and the Woodmen of the World (WOW) in 1914. In subsequent years the building was the Gordon Hotel, the Southland Hotel, the Elks Club, and apartments. The first floor is now an antique store. Inside is a treasure trove of antiques. Room after room of household goods, furniture, bric-a-brac, art, jewelry, clothing, and all kinds of odds and ends. This store seemed to have more dolls than some of the others I visited. I am not knowledgeable about antiques so If I see something I like I check the prices on eBay. If you like antiques it is well worth the time to come to Arcadia especially on the fourth Sunday of the month when all of the shops set up tables outside.

Very disappointed in my experience shopping here…read more I originally came looking for a saddle pad, they had a pretty decent selection but not exactly what I was looking for. I ended up picking a pad that was supposed to be a nice cooling one for my horse but it unfortunately didn't work with my saddle and was very slippery. I brought it back to exchange for something that would work better and the owner refused the return because the pad had a little bit of dust on it. She said it was stained, I rubbed my hand on it a little and the dust started to brush off and mentioned that I could have washed it but then I definitely couldn't have returned it! She then went on to tell me I should have used a sheet on my horse and the saddle pad over it which would defeat the entire purpose or this specific pad and it's "cooling" properties. I mean the pad is white, it was already pretty dusty and lint sticks to it easily which I chose the cleanest looking one from the store in the first place. Their employees don't know what they are talking about when it comes to saddle pads and had no clue what to suggest to me by the way.. It cost me over $150, not to mention an hour of travel to have a worthless pad I can't use. I'll take my business elsewhere thank you.
