I literally stumbled upon this place online while looking for salons and authorized suppliers of L'Oreal Professional products. I have gotten so fed up with being limited at the nearby salons and price gouging that goes on for professional hair care products. I've been a customer of this store for decades. Since emigrating here almost 40 years ago, I feel that I've known Mrs. Moon forever. She is a nice lady. Here's where things are going slightly downhill for me ... The store was always a bit jumbled, but I could live with that. They don't carry as wide a range of the Japanese hair care products which I adore, and which they carried for years and years. Also, their staff, as nice and polite as they are, don't seem too knowledgeable - I think they keep an eye on things more than knowing the product lines (my personal opinion). If I could rate this a negative number I would! I made an order and put my full address down. They sent my order out and then according to them the address was insufficient so it couldn't get to me. Now they said they can't resend it or give me a refund. I spent so much money and they didn't even bother to meet me halfway after they are the ones that left part of my address off! I ordered from their website three times. Their website states that free shipping is included for all orders over $49. All my orders were over $49, and two times out of three I had to pay $14.99 for shipping and my postal code wasn't listed as the remote location one. Complete and utter assholes! Rude on the phone. Would not answer a simple question about carrying a L'oreal product. Said it was a "sensitive product" - whatever that means. However, if I was a hairstylist then I would have gotten a different answer. And to top it off got hung up on! Had to call back to tell him off. Not sure if its a cultural thing but here in Canada people are NICE - something these shop owners should learn from. Shady business! Buyer beware. Purchased a Groupon for Safi Sole, a $100 custom orthotic insole ($450 Value) and assumed 'Safi Sole' was an orthotics place or perhaps a podiatrist. Whoops. Turns out its a large cosmetic supply store with inept employees and terrible customer service. Had to 'make an appointment' which I did. On arrival I was ushered through a closed salon, past a velvet rope, into the back storage area where they were running some sort of mickey mouse operation for these discount insoles. There is NO WAY the these EVER cost $450. Long story short: Didn't have my size and the solution was to 'go through groupon to get a refund.' Ha! What a waste of time. Bad, groupon. This is the best place in the city to find any hair related products - even professional dye products. As well as for nails, skin, waxing ....and the list goes on. Miss M. the owner and her staff are so informed on product knowledge but they are not hair dressers so take what they say with a grain of salt, but they are helpful. They have true hair beauty supplies that even my stylist goes her when they are in a pinch. The prices are great - if something is not priced though - walk away because she make up prices. Fantastic assortment of products for hair AND fairly priced. This is now one of my go-to places for salon products; however, DO NOT take the sales associates' words on what would be good for your hair. They are not hairdressers. They may have been trained to sell these things, but that does not mean they are qualified. The best thing to do is to ask your hairdresser what to use and then go get what you need here. As an example, on my last visit I bought a giant bottle of shampoo that I was advised to getinstead of some other product I had in my hand. Next time I went to get my haircut, my hairdresser said that the shampoo I ended up purchasing was definitely not what I needed for my hair type and hairstyle. Now I'm still stuck with using up half the bottole of this shampoo that I don't need. I've never purchased the makeup here, but to me it looks really old and really cheap. To be safe, buy your makeup from reputable brands that you know are long-lasting and high quality. read more

If you are looking for a better service for beauty products, go to sephora or sally's. This store is hectic. Visually, their merchandises are everywhere. I mainly go to this store to purchase hair coloring products. This stores carries professional products that aren't mass-consumer friendly. If you are looking to buy hair dye, they've got wella's KP, CT, igora royal and other brands that aren't widely available for non-professionals. Because they sell professional products, it is up to you for to learn about the products before purchasing. Some sales associates have basic knowledge of the beauty, but you shouldn't rely on them too much. Plus, their prices (for hair coloring products that I buy anyway) are reasonable or cheaper than online. They've got every beauty product imaginable. If you are in a beauty emergency, this is the store you'd go to. By the way, I only eye-balled the back of the store, but they have a weak selection of hair extensions and wigs. But then again, if you are looking for weaves and extensions, there are better places in the city. This place has everything you could ever want to buy for your hair, and them some! Even sells the products only available to hair styling professionals, so you can get that salon look at home. That being said, do not trust that just because the sales lady says it will do what you want they are not stylists and will not be there if something goes wrong, especially if you are inexperienced in what you are doing. It can be a bit hard to find what you want, although they have several staff eager and willing to assist you. Not quite the high end feel to the shop as the other supply place I go to, as this is like a hair care warehouse. One of the staff (actually, I believe she may be the owner) asked if I needed some assistance and she was extremely helpful and patient. She took time to listen to my questions and then directed me to a few product lines. She answered my questions to ensure that I had a good understanding of how to use the product. I try to limit my visits to this place. I still haven't completely overcome my addiction to products so this shop is pretty overwhelmingly full of temptation. There are bottles of shampoo and conditioner as far as they eye can see, all pretty colours and amazing promises. I always want them all. Sigh. They seem to have pretty much every product from every brand you could want. The prices aren't particularly cut price but are fairly standard. The staff kind of leave you to your own devices in general which I really like but are helpful if you do have a question. They'll know which curl gel to recommend out of thousands of potion bottles in there if you describe the kind of thing you want! I also went here to buy my hairdryer. I'd been using a Parlux at home in Ireland and found it good on my unruly mop. They're expensive dryers but I reasoned that it was better to buy a good one once instead of buying and discarding multiple useless ones. The guy who helped me that day was great! He was patient and went through various brands and dryers with me. I never felt pressured and he really didn't try to force anything on me. I ended up buying a Parlux again and it's worked beautifully. If only I had a tame hairdresser to use it on me every morning! This would definitely be my go-to place if I wanted a particular product. I have to say I agree with the comments about bad manners. You feel there are some cultural differences when you walk into this place. However, all in all they are not bad. To me it seems that the employees are more disinterested than malicious. I've been several times and only had good recommendations. Know what you want before you go to the store. They are honest about what they have, and what they can get. I would hesitate to think you can go to a beauty store and expect they aren't going to try to make a sale. If you don't know what you want be sure of what you don't want. It makes the process much easier. When you are direct and say either YES or NO then you will leave happy. In the 90s when I was a raver I had platinum blonde hair and this is where I would come to get my supplies. My mom had gotten me professional hair clippers about 20 years ago for my birthday and they lasted until recently so I headed back into some very old territory I'd not been to since the 90s. He presented a few options which are around $60-$80 but I said no it's OK I'm willing to pay more let's go for the even more professional ones. I was impressed when I started the conversation by saying I really wasn't concerned about the price and he didn't even include the more expensive ones in the options that gives me a lot of confidence in the store.
