This is for the Holt Renfrew location. The staff are rude, the usual same 2-3 ladies. Ok, maybe not rude, but they aren't friendly, and don't seem to like their job or talking to people. Selection is small, this is a smallest trade secrets location I have been to. It does have the essentials that I use (Macadamia Natural Oil and nail polishes) so it is fine for me. I had my brows waxed and but she still did threading on my skin. She ripped part of my skin by going thru one area too many times. I called them and they were nice enough to offer a free waxing but I don't think I'll ever go again. I'm also getting married in two months so if this scars I don't know what I will do.... read more

RE: CONSUMERS BEWARE! UPDATE: I was called back by Marina yesterday to tell me that management finally got back and authorized my return. So I trekked back to the store 4 hours later to get my refund. Marina was very apologetic and polite during this exchange. Strangely I received a call today from District Manager, Lucy who started the call by arguing with me. She said that another customer in the store accused me of doing this in other stores! I asked to what end would it serve me to go around to stores buying product only to return days later for the same amount I purchased them at? She also accused me of lying in my review when I said I was overcharged. I explained that I had been looking at product that was less expensive. These bottles did not have a price on them so I assumed they were the same price as the others. It was only when I got home and checked the receipt that I realized they were more expensive. I pointed out that all of this is a moot point because there should always be someone in the store who has proper authorization to complete a legitimate return. At the very least a Manager should be on call. The fact that apparently all Managers were at a conference Saturday should not be my issue as a consumer. Not to mention that Marina reached the Director of Operations who instructed her to tell me to come back Monday instead of refunding the product and sorting the issue on their own time. And he refused to speak to me personally to understand my issue. The fact that a District Manager from corporate head office started our call accusing me of being a liar and troublemaker concerns me that this is a systemic issue with the understanding of true customer service acumen. I was a Manager in retail for 10 years before I started my career and I have never witnessed something like this nor have I been so offended by such maligning of my character! That said, the call shifted where Lucy became apologetic and stated that the store would undergo customer service training. She offered a free service or gift card for my trouble. After considering it, I will not accept this offer. I have never been prompted to write a poor online review but felt the need to set the matter straight and have my concerns heard. Sadly this store has lost a customer for life. = = = CONSUMERS BEWARE! This store refused to return my product because a Manager wasn't working today to authorize the return! Initially the store clerk, Marina refused to call the Manager but finally did so only to receive no answer. She then called the Director of Operations, Vince Messa who said he was too busy to speak with me and told Marina to have me come back on Monday even though I told them that I was leaving for vacation tomorrow. Then he stopped answering calls when I asked Marina to call him back so I could speak with him. I was in the store for 1-hour waiting for a Manager to return calls to resolve this issue and finally left my contact information because Marina refused to provide me with the Manager's contact or even name so I could follow up (I found out herOlivia). What store does not have someone onsite who is authorized to perform a return within their own company policy? I had a receipt from the unused products that were purchased only 6 days prior. When I realized they had over-billed me on the product, I decided to return. And who refuses to provide an option to escalate a matter if they cannot resolve at store level? Sadly this is not the first poor customer experience I've had at this location. If I could rate 0 I would and I certainly will not be giving them any more business since I cannot trust them to comply with their own company policies and because they clearly have no interest in their customer's satisfaction. I will update you on how head office deals with this issue as I have already escalated to them. Has anyone else out there received this type of poor customer service from them? I used to come here all the time until I realized (with no help from the cashier/receptionist) that the woman who did my eyebrows previously, had left. This new lady is horrible!! I wanted her to wax my eyebrows and she literally pressured me into getting them threaded. BIG MISTAKE! She left several cuts around my eyebrows and did a horrible job of shaping them. When I asked a friend about their experience, they told me it was painful and that they had also been cut during the threading process. Now I'm reading some of these other comments and its clear... She needs to be fired as she's not qualified. ...How do you draw blood from threading your eyebrows? Thankfully, I ran into the woman who did my eyebrows before and I'm happy. She owns her own store and its located about a 15 minute walk from Trade secrets. PS... I'm also happy that I don't have to see that bitter womans face when I walk in... Im very disappointed! Been going here for my eyebrows threading since i moved to yorkville,I went yesterday around 6 and she told me that she's unable to see me coz she's done and comeback today before 7,so i did before 7 ,actually 25mins before 7 and they sent me away coz there done,and i told her that you guys told me to come back and now your not seeing me,i did not argue due to i don't want her messing with my eyebrows.The owner should know what they're doing,that they're sending client away! read more

Dim, dingy store with not a lot of selection. Lady at cash ignored me when I was in there. Bought what I needed and left. Went to Eaton Centre Trade Secrets and they were having a "buy one, get one 50% off" sale! This store was not. I recently was at this location for eyebrow waxing. I told the store mgr and esthetician that's what I wanted. I lied on the down and closed my eyes and the girl put wax on my upper lip. I was so startled and upset. I couldn't believe it. She apologized but honestly how do you mistake that. She then insisted on waxing my eyebrows and they came out lopsided. The store mgr didn't even say anything except she'd do me the favor of giving me $3.00 off. Never again will I go back. I should have known the place was bad news when my work colleague complained of getting a facial rash from their threading service because the girl used a dirty towel. The staff in this store are very unfriendly and they do not hesitate lying you only to sell their products. In the past I shopped them some shampoo and conditioner products that I knew, although they are very unwelcoming. However, yesterday I decided to to buy an eyebrow/eyelash tint. There was a section with the label of "eyebrow tinting". I asked the cashier to help me choosing one of the tints and she reassured me that the tube she sold me was an eyebrow tint. However when I arrived home and opened the box, in the instructions it is directly written "THIS PRODUCT MUST NOT BE USED FOR DYING EYELASHES AND EYEBROWS; TO DO SO MAY CAUSE BLINDNESS". I checked the product website and realized they have tubes with the exact same appearance with a minor difference that it says "Eyebrow and eyelash dye", instead of "hair dye cream"! I thought it has been a minor mistake and I would go to store and exchange it with the right product, but when I arrived there today, the young lady at the cashiers desk and her manager on the phone both told me that "this is what we use to dye our clients eyebrows; don't pay attention to what it says in the instructions"! I was shocked! Seriously? Are you suggesting me to use it on my eyebrow or eyelash? what would you do if I go blind? I told them if they have any other type of eyebrow/eyelash tinting product I'd exchange it, but they said this is the only product they have and that they cannot return my money. The money I have paid is not a big amount (~ $24) but the fact that these people put a wrong label on the product, gave me incorrect advice, and worse than all, shamelessly told me that they risk their clients' health for the money they make, does not sound right at all. Only reason i ever went to this place was for FARHANA who did my eyebrows every two weeks and occasional facials and now that she is no longer there i have no reason to go. Staff here are rude and unhelpful. As being just a customer i can tell that the workplace dynamics is off. Farhana was one of the best estheticians i have been to in my years of experience. I went to her for the last three years that i have been working in the area and it is very, very sad to see her go due to the management decisions at this place. They would rather hire a new esthetician who is inexperienced and let Farhana go because of their discrimination towards her. You wont be getting me or a lot of other customers who come here for Farhana anymore. I would love to see this place get shut down soon. read more

The customer service at this Trade Secrets location is brutal. Staff are extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming. One woman is ALWAYS on the phone and her phone calls don't sound like they're work related. No one ever asks if you need help or even acknowledges your existence. I've visited for threading a few times and will never be going back. I'm not sure they're properly trained because they seem to just rip the hair without actually pulling it out from the root. I've also left with broken skin more than once which has never happened to me elsewhere and I've been threading for a long time. As if this wasn't all bad enough they always try to up-sell you when you're having a service done. I don't want to be asked five times if I want a massage or told that my eyebrows could really use improvement. That's definitely NOT the way to keep a customer. read more

I see there is a lot of negative comments on this place, but I just got my eyebrows done here and I thought the lady did a pretty good job. I had them waxed but she also threaded any strays after the wax and made sure that they looked good. I was pretty pleased with the results and for the price I thought it was well worth it. Perhaps they brought in a new lady or they upped their game. I will be back. read more

If you are gonna purchase a lot there, for sure they will treat you like a princess, otherwise, you'll just be ignored the whole time. This place is VERY affordable for waxing. The room in the back is very tiny, but it gets the job done. I only got body waxing & not eyebrows so I can't tell if they do a good job, but for everything else, they're great. I will be coming back for sure. read more

This place is super convenient as it's located in The Path beneath the office building where I work. At $9 for eyebrow threading, it's about three times as much as I would normally spend at Laddi's Beauty Parlor but I realize that I'm mostly paying for convenience. I walked in, asked for Farhana and she threaded my eyebrows right away. She did a really great job shaping my unruly brows and I'll definitely be back!
