We mapped this place but honestly didn't have high hopes, simply due to the small town in which it's located. However, we walked inside and it is full... and I mean FULL of all kinds of geeky wonders! Comics galore, figures, vintage stuff, toys, you name it! My kid was able to a fat stack some sought after Invader Zim comics she's been hunting for ages. Husband got some graphic novels to hold him over. And yes, I found some manga that I'm super excited about for the flight home. These are like... some kind of obscure manga I've not found elsewhere. Bonus! Prices are great! The fella at the counter was super nice! We really, really liked this shop! We'll stop in again the next time we visit the area.

It is a place of things not needed as a norm, but for a collector as myself I could go broke over the amazing things they have. I was amazed at the amount of merchandise for Magic and Pokémon. After looking around for half an hour, I asked one of the employees if any of the cards behind the display cases were for sale, he had to price them out, but was willing to pull any out that interested me. I had him pull out my grail - an EX/NM 1st Edition Dark Charizard from Base Rocket and he gave me $50. I decided it was too good to pass up and he rang it up for me. The experience with the great prices and relaxed atmosphere will have me checking out the Mason location very soon.

Playing TTRPGs in the large game rooms can be difficult because the sound carries WAY TOO MUCH!…read moreDuring games, it can feel like you need super hearing just to follow what is happening at your own table. Some sound barriers, acoustic panels, or better room separation would make a huge difference. I also wish the store had a clearer focus. They seem to be trying to do a little bit of everything, but some areas feel underdeveloped. They are not really a strong destination for comics; the miniature painting supplies are limited, the other items need better category separation, and the TTRPG offerings could be stronger. Their Sunday D&D one-shots also sell out quickly, and they have in-store gaming waiting lists, which shows there is demand, but not enough space or availability. Pricing can also be on the high side for certain items compared to other options. The store is expanding, which could be a great opportunity. However, I hope the expansion improves the actual play experiences and gives more attention to TTRPG events, sound control, and product focus. More space alone will not solve the issue if the store continues trying to cover too many categories without doing any one of them especially well.

Future Great Comics is a new local comic book shop in Hamilton. They opened up almost a year ago. I…read morecould not be more excited about it because the last time we had a comic book shop in Hamilton was when I was a small child, and then that quickly turned into a tobacco store of all things! It's so great to not have to travel at least 30 minutes away to get some fresh comics. The owner, Brian, is super very friendly and helpful. He is one of the nicest, coolest people you'll ever meet. He's not at all stuck up or rude like at other comic shops... *cough* Queen City Comics *cough cough*. They sell new comic issues and some back issues as well. If you don't see something you want, Brian will be more than happy to try to order it in for you if he can. He started carrying Invader Zim just for me and my husband. They also sell toys and collectibles, they have a good selection of Funko Pop figures. They sell graphic novels, manga, table top gaming supplies and t-shirts too. He is always getting some good rare stuff into the store that he found at flea markets or auctions. They also regularly hold costume contests, signings by artists, and other such events. They have a table top gaming space in the back of the store. I know he is trying to get a program started where people can come in, sit down, chill out and try out a table top game, and afterwards he will start selling the games in the store if people really take to it. Indeed, this is a godsend and a lovely, wonderful gem to have in Hamilton. Do yourself a favor and stop in, chat with Brian, buy some of his awesome merch, and maybe sit down for a game or two. This store deserves all of your business!! Don't let another comic book shop get away from Hamilton! Especially not an amazing one like this.
