The pros: The office is very nice and clean. They offer complimentary water/coffee. Front desk staff is very kind and try their best to accommodate. Dr is personable. Offers payment plans. The cons: Poor quality materials used. Some staff is not experienced. Lack of regular treatment planning from dentist. Inadequate parking. I'll elaborate. My older son went to Dr Izzi for orthodontic treatment. His braces were on for 2 years. He wasn't a simple case as he required an exposure due to impacted tooth. It was addressed at the beginning of treatment. He was seen every 4 weeks for adjustment and assessment from Dr Izzi. It was a very small office with little staff but great outcome. My youngest son was a trickier case as he had many baby teeth that hadn't fallen out yet. He also had 2 adult teeth that required exposures. With that said I expected treatment to be longer. Unfortunately appointments were often spaced out 8-10 weeks due to availability. Towards end of treatment I requested every 6 weeks min and they did accomodate. He was rarely seen by dentist until I requested he be seen every time (and he still wasn't). Often he would have a wire or bracket brace or pop off or break. There were times we left and next day something broke. It was extremely inconvenient and uncomfortable for him to try to get him back in for repairs and I had to take a lot of time off from work and he missed school (often only appts available where middle of day). Staff did always try to get him in quickly though. The office closes also early in the summer which made it a hardship. When he needed the exposure I was going to make an appointment with an oral surgeon but told it could be done in office with a laser. On day of appointment, we arrived, he was seen by Dr and I was told it wasn't possible due to how deep the teeth were. I ended up seeing the oral surgeon anyway but this delayed treatment and wasted time. He finally got his braces off and still had small malocclusion but it was fine because it had become exhausting. His retainer was available for pickup but they were closed next week for vacation so they said if it didn't fit to follow up. He didn't tell me for 2 weeks but the top was painful on one side. It seemed too small over one tooth. He was seen and given a tool to help sensitivity/painand told to continue to wear/follow up 3 weeks. After a week of continued pain he visited his regular dentist who agreed the fit was off in one area and temporarily modified it to relieve discomfort. I was given a referral to Barone orthodontics for a new one. I canceled follow up and Barone made him a new, well fitting, better quality retainer. Overall Dr Cosmos is a nice guy but not the best orthodontists or experience. It's a fancy office and has a ton of staff. In my opinion it's just a braces factory. I prefer basic office with attentive Dr and better faster outcomes. I would recommend Izzi or Barone in North Providence. read more

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience with Dr. Cosmo, at all. I had Invisalign from a different orthodontist years past and I went to Dr. Cosmo for nighttime retainers. Dr. Cosmo insinuated that I did not complete my past orthodontic work and that I was lying. He refused to give me night time retainers because "why would I want to retain this!"(meaning my not perfect teeth). He would only give me night time retainers if I "proved" to him that I finished my past orthodontic treatment. As a 41 year old professional, I was appalled, incredibly embarrassed, and insulted. His lack of professionalism made me very upset. I would never recommend him to anyone. read more

I went to see Dr. Cosmo to obtain a new retainer, having worn the same one since I got my braces off on 1992. Wow, orthodontics have come a long way since the early 90s! ;) I was glad I made the visit. The practice is very well-run and sophisticated. The staff is professional and friendly. I observed Dr. Cosmo and his team working with kids and their parents and was impressed with their level of attention, skill and care. Cranston Orthodontics has become a family affair. We moved to RI about 2 years ago. My youngest son, 7, was having issues with his teeth coming in, I searched a bit online and found Cranston Orthodontics, scheduled a consultation and was seen within a week. The office is bright, cheery and clean. Light colours, blues and whites. The staff is friendly and efficient. The waiting room has computer to check in right by the door for each visit. Free coffee, water, and tea. Flat screen tv ample magazines. There is a children's area with two flat screen tvs for video games. Doctor Cosmo spoke directly to my then 7 year old son, reviewed his dental history and recommended a course of treatment. I loved that he spoke with my son directly, asking him questions, really listening and giving my son a "say" in his treatment so to speak. My son is in a spacer retainer and will move onto braces soon. I was so impressed by the professionalism and detailed course of treatment, I scheduled a consult for my own teeth right after my 7 year old's visit. It had been a good 30 years since I had finished my orthodontic treatment, there was a bit of shifting. The staff and Dr. Cosmo were detailed in the course of treatment, the cost, and length of treatment. I was sold. While at an appointment for a check up on my teeth, Dr. Cosmo noticed I had clicking in my jaw, I have TMJ. I was very happy to find the office also makes night guards for TMJ. I recently completed my course of invisalign and am now in retainers. I also scheduled 19 year old son for a consult, his orthodontic treatment was when he was 8 to 10 in Maryland. He is in braces and clear retainers. He will complete his treatment in a few months. Front desk area note: Usually there is a contest, in the summer, an art contest, now in December a guess at the amount of candy canes in a jar. A very nice surprise around Mother's Day they had the children finish their appointment by handing the mother's a long stemmed rose. Loved that, but even more, I am so pleased with the treatment plans. Finding the right orthodontist is like finding a needle in a haystack. When you find one who is professional, detailed, caring and is passionate about their field, stick with them. My family, has a good cross section of services provided by Cranston Orthodontics and are very happy with the results so far! My 8 year old is towards the end of his spacing, I have completed my course of treatment and am in retainers, my 19 year old is in braces. Orthodontic treatment is a serious investment not to be taken lightly. Overall, I am extremely pleased with Cranston Orthodontics. We all have bright smiling futures ahead of us. read more

As you can see in my google review, I cannot speak to how the ortho treatment is at this office because I called multiple times during business hours but got a voicemail where I left 2 messages that went unanswered...unanswered to this day I may add, however it is apparently my fault as I only left two messages and didn't text, email, send a letter, beg for them to allow me to become a patient... I only made multiple attempts because Dr Cosmo came highly recommended, so he MAY be really good....his office staff/professionalism of who answers his reviews not so much... now if someone is ill, I wish them a speedy recovery BUT I feel that an apology could have come from the businesses response, instead of an arrogant response. I had braces when I was in high school. A visit to my dentist 1 1/2 years ago confirmed that my teeth had moved and that I would need to see an orthodontist. I reluctantly booked an appointment with Dr. Cosmo because I felt that at 50+ years of age, I would feel out of place. To my surprise, there were people of all ages there. Dr. Cosmo and his staff are professional, friendly, knowledgable, always willing to answer your questions and make you feel at ease with the entire process. I have not had the best experience with Dr. Cosmo's office staff scheduling appointment visits. I called on January 22, to set up an appointment because my son's retainer broke. The earliest appointment available was today February 3rd, and they aware of the reason for the appointment. Today, I decided to call and confirm the appointment because I showed up once before on a scheduled appointment, only to be told they didn't have my son booked. They did get him in, but only after I refused to be rescheduled to another date on their mistake. Well good thing I called because again they didn't have him scheduled to come in, and again they tried to reschedule my son's appointment. After getting upset about their screw up again, they said they would fit him in. I bring my son with his broken retainer to the office and they took look at it and tell us they have to order another one and will take two weeks...incredible!..All this aggravation I have to go through just to be told that! Then I was told by the girl who took care of my son it will cost $75 and I go to the desk they want to charge me $150. It seems to me that communication among their staff and their patients is definitely not the best. I will have to see if there will be an improvement in communication when I go back to the office in two weeks at our next scheduled appointment. Since, they don't give a courtesy call to remind patients of upcoming appointments, I will confirm before I go though, just in case. read more
