As I did my research and sorted through outfitters, I got in touch with Tracy at Africa Adventure Consultants. From our first conversation, Tracy understood what kind of trip I was looking to do, what my wants and needs were to make it successful and also what my challenges were. Tracy consitently communicated with me with not only answers to my questions, but also suggestions to make things easier and maximize my time. They give you every detail that you need to prepare for the trip of a lifetime. Their partners on the ground in Africa follow the same level of service. We were seamlessly met at every airport/airstrip, zipped through customs with our bags and on our way to our accomodation before some folks were even off the plane. The accomodations were all great. Some excelled at some things better than others but all were clean, comfortable, hospitable and relatively upscale. The guides were dialed in, friendly, great drivers and more than answered the need for soneone local to help keep things running smooth. They became as much a part of our experience as the activities. Tracy kept telling me how much they trust their partners on the ground. They are right to do so. Even when the news about Ebola threatened to derail part of the trip, AAC was proactive and provided us with real time information, options and time to discuss with them. Speaking quickly about Ebola; tourism in Uganda has crashed since May with up to 60% cancellations in a lot of places. Uganda is safe from Ebola and travel around, in and out is fine. Coming home to the US is not a problem if you book to fly through a US gateway airport. Go to Uganda. Long story not so short.... Jim did provide a couple quotes even though it took a few weeks why he was on vacation to get them. I was ready to book and after another week was told my stateroom of choice was not available and the other prices went up. so, I contacted another agency and was told yes we have your staterooms available and at $800 lower price that Jim provided ($400 each). Wow, that was great news. So, I hated to let Jim know we went a different way but appreciated his efforts and would have considered him in the future. Jim immediately sent me a nasty email telling me that I or my family would not be provided any service in the future! He was clearly pissed, sadly it happens in business. I never told customers they were not welcomed back when they bought from my competitor. End of the day I would never use them again and only because of how nasty Jim was to a past customer. He gave us choices on hotels, what we deemed important which, as mentioned earlier, included proximity to the cities we visited, breakfast included and excellent staff at each and every hotel.
