We had reservations for opening time at lunch on a cold, rainy day. The space was inviting, with typical restaurant décor for a Tex-Mex place. Since we were early, I started with a margarita on the rocks. I know they used the top shelf stuff to make this one - it was excellent! Our waiter was very attentive and ready to answer any question in excellent English. Ultimately only two of us chose the fish tacos - you might know I *love* a good fish taco - but unfortunately, these weren't it! Although we were among the first customers of the day, the fish was coated in a thick layer of... breading(?) that was soaked in oil. Perhaps they didn't wait to heat the oil enough? I don't know, but they were a soggy disappointment that we could only eat after cutting away that greasy coating. We walked in without having reservations and we were welcomed in! Let me tell you a couple of restaurants we tried to go to without reservations & those restaurants were sparsely filled with customers had no problem turning us away. Yes, as I mentioned this is a ways off the local tourist area, however I guarantee if you appreciate good Mexican food this is well worth the walk. Besides after eating you will need to walk your meal & beverages off. Let us start off with the awesome waiter, who spoke perfect English & very courteous. We were both slightly hungry from the previous attempted meal. By this time I was in need of a Michelada. Michelada is not a common drink at all. Well imagine my surprise when I discovered this was as good as few of the Mexican Restaurants from San Antonio, Texas! The rim Tajin lined, right amount of Tabasco, Worcestershire, Tomatoes & cold Pacifico! Gosh, could have easily had 2 of those! The guacamole literally dances on your tongue, right garlic, lime & accompanied by the freshest chips we ever had! The portion is perfect for 2 people. Remember we were slightly hungry. Had the Diablo shrimp which came with their own smoky sauce, these were not tiny shrimp either. I couldn't eat all the shrimp. Spouse had the ceviche with fresh shrimp & nice sized avocados. When in Spain, you must try some fresh ceviche. We looked hard, got referred by a few bartenders, then was sent to the wrong restaurant. But all that trekking was worth it. Oh my God this food is absolutely divine. There's plenty of small seating and a seafood bar in the back. Nothing outlandish or fancy, it seems this place put all their efforts into the cuisine and it shows (tastes?). When ordering, sharing is caring and that's encouraged here. Garlic Shrimp- absolutely the best flavor of all the plates. We really couldn't get enough of that garlic sauce and we saved it for our chips. Octopus and Shrimp Ceviche- we're not fans of tomato, so we jumped in this choice. The blend of citrus and pumpkin seeds really impressed us and the red onion wasn't powerful at all. We ate all of this up with chips. Tuna Tataki- our tastebuds we're confused and delighted by the mix of spice, char, and almond paste. Don't squeeze a lime on it, it doesn't help. We were so tired of seeing nothing but "tapas" luring tourists in for the standard Spanish fare, every single restaurant had the exact same menu. So I sought out something different. This place delivered on the quality, taste and service. It's a small space, so best to make a reservation as it gets filled up quickly. We sat at the small bar counter and had a good time due to excellent customer service from Jarome. He spoke excellent English, was super friendly, explained all the dishes in great detail, asked us about any allergies, and made us feel like old friends. We are very picky with food, as we're used to the best restaurants in New York and Philadelphia, where we're from. I always seek out unique high quality food. This place delivered. The flavors were interesting, tasted authentic, were thought out, and the ingredients were fresh. The menu had many great options. The only thing I didn't care for were the tortilla chips, they were overbaked and too hard. We left very satisfied, which can't be said for a few other restaurants we ate at in Barcelona. Wow! Cannot say enough about the fantastic food here! My husband and I were in Barcelona for 4 days and we ate here twice. The fish tacos are the best I've ever had in my life- the fried and the al pastor. All the sauces are incredible and creative. The tostadas are awesome, the mussels were also the best ever and my husband loved the shrimp broth. Amazing drinks, great location, extremely nice and professional staff and ridiculously good food! Really really good Mexican restaurant that specializes in seafood. I had the tostada of the raw white fish which had really nice flavours and the seafood was really fresh. Then the fried shrimp tacos which were nice. And my favourite taco was the grilled fish taco. I'm a big fan of Mexican food mixed with seafood so this is an ideal restaurant for someone like myself. The mango frozen margarita was really good too I had to order two of them. We also ordered the guacamole and chips. My only complaint is here. The chips weren't home made, store bought. And I would have preferred the guacamole to be a little more sweet. It's a little bit pricey but worth it for seafood lovers. Service was really nice as well, spoke English and Spanish. One of my favorite restaurants in Barcelona. While my friend and I came to this place we tried all the specials and every taco. We weren't disappointed, everything was delicious couldn't say a bad thing about this place. Even their wine bags were cool and kept enough space on the table for out tacos.
