Costco is generally a good value and it's the place I go to most often to get gas. There's always a line and while it looks intimidating, it doesn't take more than 10 minutes to get a pump station. There are two ways to enter the gas line and you can fill up using any station. You have to tap your Costco card first and then you can pay by credit card. After you fill up, there's a one way flow of traffic to leave. You can take a small exit to the main road or you can leave the main way and it'll take you through the Costco parking lot. The area usually has a reasonable line and the value is worth the mild inconvenience of waiting. read more

It is the closest to me at this moment and I come here for gas and shopping at CostCo. There is not a single time that I don't see a long line. It may feel depressing when you see this, but I have measured the time from entrance to finish. It takes only 10-15 minutes max. It may see a lot of cars, but cars are moving fast. Usually they block the roads inside so cars will not be blocked by the line into the gas station. I think the design was wrong and did not expect so many cars every day. The gas price is good and many people come to fill the gas to save money. The gas tube is long enough no matter which side of your gas tank door is at, it is long enough even though you choose the wrong side of island. I always try my best to move in and leave as fast as I can. And I also see some people take their time to do it slowly. I don't know why, but that is not what I like to see or like to be seen. After gas, you can also visit CostCo for hot dogs and soda or shop here. CostCo is doing a good job here. The gas is so popular like its store. Amazing! read more

My 500th Review -- and it goes to..... Costco Gasoline? Well why not -- they are used by so many people. I've been a member here since they first opened in the early 90's I believe. But I've noticed in the last year or so the lines for gas have gotten so long -- I frequently give up and go someplace else. Yes, they have the cheapest prices around but you have to have a membership card (which so many people do -- just look at the price of Costco stock lately). If you pay with your Costco Visa you get an additional 5% off (statement credit yearly) so that brings down the price further. On the down side there is rarely an attendant there and you can't get oil, water, or any other "perks" at the pump. So if you are willing to put up with all that -- this is the place for you to save some dough (before or after spending it in the warehouse). read more

Best gas prices in town with the worst wait time. I paid for a year membership with Costco, so I am committed! Upon moving here to LA, I avoided this place like the plague. Who, in their right mind, would ever wait in this sea of cars. I mean, look at those dummies! I never had a panic attack in my life, but I feared that waiting in this sea would give me one. What happens if you suddenly have to make a beeline out of there for an emergency - good luck! Don't think you'll make it out! However, as everything else around this town is soooo pricey, I joined Costco and became one of the crazy gas people. The trick is to be there when it opens on the weekend. No line. No wait. There's always a handful of OCD, harried, hurried people like myself there, but we can get in and out quickly. So if you are a morning person, this method can work for you! The other odd thing is that sometimes the whole station is shut down and I won't find out until I make the trek out there! Balderdash! I also make sure to be as efficient as possible when getting gas as I HAVE seen customers yell at each other - I'm assuming because they are taking too long but I'm not sure. But I got scared. So there ARE a lot of steps in this whole gas-acquiring process. If you are elderly, impaired, new to the process, distracted, or slow - I can see how it could take a while! SO: Costco card and credit card ready. Rush out of car - no purse, just cards and keys in hand. Insert each card. Select type of gas and forgo the receipt as that takes time. Open gas cap, insert gas nozzle. Wait until tank is full. Secure gas cap and gas nozzle. Hop into car and get the heck out of there before I get yelled at. That's actually a LOT of steps in retrospect. . . too bad we can't all do the credit card transaction from an app. I'm stressed just writing this - and I'm writing it quickly - like I'm in a crowd surrounded by hungry zombies! This particular location has many pumps which is good but on the other hand I feel that they should have left enough room for cars to be able to exit when done fueling. I was in lying behind One customer who finished fueling and it wasn't enough space for her to get out so she had to wait on the car in front of her to move before she can exit. Never thought I'd have something bad to say about Costco but their staff Lupe was awful. My friend had her SERVICE dog in the cart, which we now know is not allowed which is totally fine BUT Lupe's approach was so rude and offensive I was shocked!!! Continuously asked what service he provided which is not allowed nor does she need to know. The reasons why people have these animals can be traumatic and they don't need to be resurfaced because someone can't grasp the reasoning behind it. She could have asked for his certification but did not. They really need to have a staff meeting to understand what service these animals actually provide. This Costco Gas has the cheapest prices in West LA with the lines to back that up! You need to be a Costco member to buy here and also use a debit card, as they don't take most credit cards. They may have recently started taking Visa credit but I am not sure. You enter off Washington Blvd and drive right, past In N Out Burger and the oil change place. Look to your right and you will see lines of cars queuing up for the pumps. This is strictly self serve with regular, midgrade, and premium. Hours are longer than the Costco store hours. Something like 5:30 or 6am til 9:30pm but check first before you make a special trip. read more

If the lines are super long, which is usually the case, the security guard will direct you to go into a lane. One thing (maybe I'm not the only one) that kind of "grinds my gears", as Peter Griffen would say, is when the security guard directs me to go into a lane where my gas cap is on the other side.
