Overall, yes, I do recommend the Costco here in Helena compared to others I've been at, I wish they'd accept my Asian girlfriend more but I understand, It's Montana.. We shop there a lot, and I'm not gonna leave her at home. But anyway, I'm seeing too much processed food here and packaging and you wonder why people are getting more more sick and obese. I don't buy that stuff at Costco or anywhere. I just go there for the necessities. The dairy products are good. The hormone, antibiotic injected meat is good enough and The steaks are decent . My job gives me an expense account to shop there. I travel a lot. When we are home, we Cook from scratch and that's what we buy at Costco, not the processed food and I want Costco to stay popular . This Costco is located on the road leading out of the airport. A nice Costco that has the typical layout and items. There is plenty of parking and it's kept clean. The prices were the same as my Costco in NC. There were plenty of checkout lines available when I was there and the service was good. The only thing I noticed that was a big negative was the seating area in the food court. Very few seats?!?!? read more

The Bakery Department is incredible!! I asked for them to design a cake for a celebration of our State Superintendent and they went above and beyond to make it perfect! They used her logo and the cakes turned out beautifully. Thank you Costco bakery for your care and attention to detail!! and- they were delicious!!! read more

The service is lousy at the glasses counter. The staff doesn't listen to anything that you are saying, and they make rude comments and mutter under their breath while they are adjusting frames. Lisa bent my glasses so much I wasn't sure that they would ever fit properly, they didn't. I sent back the glasses 3 times (I have no idea if they really left the store) they were returned with the same problem. If you want to save money, buy online. read more

From out of town and this is the first Costco I've been to that is bright and open. They have skylights along the ceiling that let in a lot of sunlight. Everything was clean and organized. The stations with food samples were plentiful and all the product reps were friendly but not pushy. Their food court is transitioning with the removal of the Polish Dog and Chocolate Frozen Yogurt. The new additions are the Acai Bowl and Al Pastor Salad. Love that there's the alcohol in the back including Huckleberry Hard Cider which I grabbed a couple bottles of. read more

I questioned my brother when he said, "Let's go to Costco." It was around 7:30 pm and I'm like...is that right? It's still open? Yes it was and it's open till 8:30pm on a weekday. We were in there and surprisingly still had samples...well only one type which was cheese and lots of it. Only thing that I really liked about this place was that there was self-check out stations. SELF CHECK OUT AT A COSTCO! That's brilliant or perhaps it's easier here. Also what was smart was that they use the separator between customer items on the conveyer belt. They flipped it upside down so you can place your card in it. SMART! Although it was butt cold, it was nice and warm inside. A great way to stay warm. read more

The meat department is to be avoided. The salmon is farm raised, which is significantly less healthy than wild salmon. The steak is blade tenderized, which means you have to torch it to achieve food safety. Who wants to eat a well done steak? If I want it tenderized, I can do it myself. Finally, they often switch the coolers to defrost, which means the meat will go bad. I have had 3 returns because the chicken was bad, so I guess the third time isn't the charm. I would open any meat products right away for a smell test before re bagging and freezing. Look at the coolers for a temperature or defrost. Who has ever heard of turning off a fridge? There is good things about this joint of course, but taking a giant section and making it worthless just doesn't make sense. read more

The Good : The grocery / household goods section of the store itself was very clean and the customer service was top notch. From the people in the various departments to the cashiers to the hot dog and pizza counter - everyone was polite, attentive and just had this 'sharp' feel to them. They consistently react quickly to needs and take proactive steps when necessary to ensure a good customer experience. If all you need is the grocery / household goods, pharmacy, print shop, eye center or concession stand this is a 5 star establishment that I can recommend without reservation. The Bad : The tire center. I don't need new tires often (who does!) and the one time I did I thought "Hey, lets go to Costco because everything they do is excellent" - this was my first mistake. My second mistake was not getting, in writing, a time schedule for how long it would take. I was told one time, and when that time had elapsed my car not only wasn't done but it wasn't even close. I politely pointed out that this was not the service I was promised, fully expecting the man behind the counter to apologize and say things were going a bit slow or that they'd had some complication that had put them behind schedule. I did not complain expecting something to change, but I wanted to make the gentle reminder that I was given a commitment and Costco is usually good about keeping them. The tire center manager came out and was combative, argumentative and aggressive in his assertion that I was either never given a time estimate or that he personally heard me given a different estimate. There's more to the story, but its all bad so I wont bore you with it. Only the quick, prompt and outstanding service of the rest of the Costco staff has kept me a Costco customer at all. Bottom line here - a bad tire center keeps this from being a truly excellent store. Go there for all your needs .... except tires. read more

One of the best Costco stores I've been to. Mind you, I'm a big city gal and have been to many Costco stores. First off -1 star because their strawberries were going bad and some containers had dirt underneath. I know, I know...a little dirt doesn't hurt anybody. However, there was more than a little dirt. Check the underside of your produce containers people! +4 stars for the huge aisles, wide selection of grocery items, and the friendly cashier who helped us :) Make sure to pick up some yogurt ice cream bars while you're there...YUM! I don't understand why people are complaining about lines. Every time I go here I've never come across that problem. Unless your definition of long is 5 people in front of you. Just go and visit. They'll have plenty of samples waiting for you and great items in bulk! read more

I dropped my card somewhere between the store and the car. Went back in to procure a new card. After waiting patiently at the membership desk for 15 minutes while scads of returns were processed and I was told by both employees, "I'll be right with you", as they continued to process returns that came in after me, one of the employees finally came to the membership desk, and assisted another customer who had just walked up. Unacceptable customer service. Pay attention to those who present for service and the order in which they appear. read more

Chronically understaffed with long checkout lines. Pharmacy is the worst, always a long wait and they actually CLOSE during early afternoon for a lunch break! Come on, the pharmacy needs to be open during all store hours and better staffed at all times. I used to buy all my gas at Costco, but no more since they decided to start adding ethanol. There are several ethanol-free stations in Helena that are only a few cents more per gallon, so they now get my business. read more

Management is horrible. I've never been so rudely treated like a criminal in my life. I've had a membership for years and dealt with Costco stores all over the northwest but this helena location is by far the worst in customer service. They are so concerned about being fast that they have become ignorant to treating us as human being paying customers and not cattle they're trying to rush through. My card was expired and was treated like I stole the card by a manager lady. Why would I steal a card and go purchase food, they think they're so big that they can treat people how they want, we pay higher prices just to shop there on some items when you figure in membership fees. They need to really come down hard on management and teach them how to be NICE. read more

The optometrist and her secretary are awesome. Engaging and great to work with. None better. They are five star and should educate and train the people behind the retail counter where I experienced the rudest most obnoxious pair of employees I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. After refusing to acknowledge the presence of me and my 8 year old grandddaughter for 15 minutes one turned my direction and said she would be with me soon then they both ignored me and those that were patient enough to continue waiting for another ten minutes while they talked about what they were doing on their next break. When one of them finally decided customers were important enough to command their individual attention she snarled at me with every question and acted as if filling my contact lens order imposed a tremendous inconvenience upon her and her idle chat with her equally unresponsive coworker. Incredibly rude and obnoxious behavior that even my eight year old granddaughter was shocked to witness. If either of these women were my employees I would fire them if I learned of their behavior and attitude. When I asked to speak to a manager the employee said she wasn't sure if there was one in the store. I had a full cart of purchases I elected to leave at the store without purchasing after my encounter with these two bad apples. My visit was at 1 pm on July 14, 2017. read more

when we pay for a membership you think it would be far superior to Walmart but they have few cashiers large lines and don't even give you anything to carry your grocery's everything is 10 dollars or more food in the deli is just okay seems like they take the expiration date stickers off and put new ones on the same old food that's the way the food tastes anyway read more

It's a smallish store that never has enough registers open. A manager that was walking by gave me a dirty look when I commented to my friends that the lines were too long after we overheard him tell one of the register employees to close her register and go home. Helena Costco tire department sucks. Had appt for 6pm today to get new tires put on...was there on time, but tire guy was late. Then they bust one of my sensors and try to say that the sensor light was flashing when they brought it in and it was already busted - LIES!! There was no flashing sensor light when I parked the car and handed the keys over - had to buy new sensor...to the tune of $53.96. Was told everything would be done in 45min to an hour...well, two hours later and they give my keys back saying now they can't get the sensor light to go off...said "oh, just drive it for 15min over 15ph and it will reset itself". Tried that - didn't work. Had to make ANOTHER appointment for Saturday because they close at 830 and I have to work out of the area the next three days. All the manager said was "thanks for your patience and understanding". Really?! What a joke!!! First and guaranteed LAST time I will ever use Costco's tire center!! read more
