Ahhh Baton Rouge, you know your city/town has made it when a Costco is located there. I always stop here whenever staying or passing through Baton Rouge due to the gas. But while staying here, I do stop in to mosey around and see what products/items this location offers that's unique to other locations. The difference is they have some LSU memorabilia and a few Louisiana condiments and beverages you can't find elsewhere. As always, there's all the grocery aisles which consist of the bulk items from the deli and bakery. And of course, those hot items such as the rotisserie chicken and rack of ribs. Cold items including the wraps, cocktail shrimp, salads, and the ready-to-eat meals adorn this place too. I'll sometimes grab one of the meals and let it last for days whenever I'm on travel and staying in one of the hotels around. Since this Costco has been open for several years, it's evident there's some wear and tear around the warehouse. The parking lot can be a bit dirty as well so check your surroundings when here. read more

**This review is just for the Tire Center** Costco has great prices on tires but buyer beware, because that low price isn't always what it seems. I have 3 specific instances that forced me to find another tire company to use. 1. The first is, I ran over a nail, and when I went in to get the tire plugged after shopping and waiting for over an hour, they told me they couldn't fix the tire and it cost me about $200 out of pocket for a replacement. What's the warranty for if I'm paying that kind of money for another tire? 2. I went in to get a tire checked for a slow leak and after spending another hour and a half wandering around the store, the tech tells me there's nothing wrong with it! I told him to check it again because the tire kept losing pressure. After another 30 minutes he tells me it was an old plug that was leaking and they fixed it. Why did I have to tell him that? I wasn't imagining things but he wanted to waste my time twice just to get the tire repaired. Thankfully I didn't accept his explanation and pressed the issue. 3. My tires were due to be rotated and balanced and they told me that the tread on the front are much lower than the back so they couldn't do it but would be happy to sell me some new ones...no thanks. Luckily it only took 30 minutes for them to tell me that and if I need new tires, I'm going somewhere that can get me in and out without waiting for hours and who has techs that I have confidence in. Also, one final note, whenever I leave their tire service, there's always grease and oil on my fabric door panels that I have to clean. It's a small thing but irritates the crap out of me that I usually have to clean my car when I leave this place because of greasy hands leaving smears. The employees are nice but if I have an issue, it's a long wait with so-so results that usually costs me money even though I have a "warranty". I'll just go elsewhere for tires. read more

Worst Costco location by far. I have never met more rude and irritated employees. Went with my father, who has the membership. I scanned the card to get in for him- as he was maybe 2 or 3 steps behind me- and the employee at the door screamed in my face like a child to go find whoever had the membership to scan the card. Would I have gladly given the card to my father (who was in arms distance) to scan to get in if asked like a human? Sure! Happily! Ridiculous rule but sure! But to have another grown adult get in my face like I'm an animal and SCREAM at me in front of at least 50 other people? No. I NEVER will be back again. read more

Costco was great when it first came to Baton Rouge in 2015: fast checkout, excellent service and prices. But since they installed self-checkout, service has devolved to Walmart levels of slovenly service. Today, I self-left after seeing that it was taking the store over 20 minutes to check out people in a line that stretched to the deli. I will not be renewing my membership. read more

This one is similar to the one near us in Columbia MD though this one carries a good selection of wine and some common beers. My one knock is the parking lot is small and with a 29' RV it was less spacious than we're used to at Costco. I was surprised we had the company of another two dozen masked shoppers. read more

I've been shopping at the Costco in Baton Rouge since 2015 and today was the first time I've experienced in my face racism by employees. There's been subtle racism that you just say whatever to. The whole self checkout thing is a bunch of confusion as it's not really self checkout. My daughter began scanning the items and then a female employee had the scan gun and didn't want to give it to us to scan the items ourselves she began scanning the items at the bottom of the basket which was a box of dog biscuits and a box of capri suns along with some other things inside the basket she threw my chips and said these weren't scanned but they were the first thing that was scanned and I showed her on the screen I asked if she scanned everything and she stated yes. I proceeded to pay and get pizza like I do almost every Sunday. As we were exiting the store the Latino lady who was checking receipts was barely looking at the items or receipts of the people who just so happened to be white it was three separate customers. When it came to me she pulled out a red marker and was going through my basket item by item I never went through this before and then she stated that all the items weren't scanned and I stated that's not possible because the lady scanned everything so I said let me look and see and she said I couldn't hold up the line to check. I'm like excuse me you held it up to mark off each item like I'm a criminal I'm going through my own receipt. I went to the side and the lady at self checkout who demanded that she scan my basket in fact did not scan the capri suns which were directly next to the dog biscuits that she did scan so I feel like she did that on purpose. As I was waiting for the manager or whomever was supposed to come I noticed she continued to not check anyone else's basket the way she went through my basket she just let them go. I expressed my dismay and how embarrassing her actions were. It's one thing to do your job it's another to go out your way to treat customers who don't look like you in a disrespectful and nasty manner. Unfortunately this is the only Costco in the city and I do pay yearly for membership but if I have to drive to New Orleans then I will. The next step is to just cancel my membership I won't continue to pay to be treated like a criminal and experience racism at the hand of employees. I usually absolutely love going to costco, but today was the first time I had truely bad customer service. It started off well, me and my partner got some Costco Pizza, a nice treat. We gathered our groceriees, but I was in line with my partner, who has a costco card, and we were buying supplies for our house and the office. We let the cashier (Megan) now in advance. When we told her we would be paying with two seperate cards, she said that wasn't allowed, even though my partners name is on the business debit card. She proceeded to ring it up together without even giving us literally one minute to make an adjustment. She treated us very rude. We had to get out of line to put the money from the business account on my partners personal debit card. She was very rude about the whole thing. When we talked to a manager, the manager (Ashlyn the front end manager) was just as rude. Neither one wanted to hear what we were saying, and we had to wait to transer the money on from business to personal and finally we did, and I have to say the whole experience took away a bit of the magic of costco. read more

Costco is pretty awesome for all your grocery needs in bulk. The staff there is always friendly and there are great deals on items, as sometimes they have instant savings coupons that are automatically deducted at checkout. And of course, they offer samples to entice you to buy new items. Even the foodcourt has some tasty food for cheap, like the polish dogs or huge slices of pizza. It's also the only place I know of that sells some of my favorite ice cream bars - the melona brand! One thing I've noticed about Costco though, is that they're really strict about the membership cards. You can't even use your spouse's, brother's, sister's, mom's or even dad's card EVEN if you live in the same household (I've tried showing them proof of residence with my ID) even though it is a household membership - which I reallllllly hate. So yeah, Costco is definitely a stickler when it comes to checking your name on the card at the register, so come with *your own* membership card if you wanna catch the deals! read more

My my---been here a few times over the last year while my previous exposure to these humongous member only discount places is Sams Wholesale---I take it that Costco has raised the level of these joints and to a certain extent I wish I would visit more often and purchase more items more often----plus, if I go at the right time, then I can sample enough food to make a meal. Even I do not stuff myself on freebies, Costco's deli is reasonably priced that I can have a hot dog and fountain drink for under $2--and a chicken sandwich for under $4. All very reasonable. So what does this place sell? It's a huge department store but most items are sold in higher quantity than what you would get at a department store and definitely more than at a CVS and or Walgreens. Liquor, electronics, clothes, food and fresh food/meats/bakery offerings for all. The times I have visited, the entire location has been clean and neat which is more than I can say for Sams. The workers at Costco also have been polite and helpful which is yet another reason to say good things about it and give it a great rating and review. read more

The four tires on this car were bought at this Baton Rouge Costco. One of those tires had a slow leak. I made an appointment to have the slow leak repaired, and was offered a free rotation with the repair. Get the car back, drive around for about 2 weeks and the low tire pressure dash light is still on. Not only that, but something happened to one of my cars lights and it now has a short. Checked the pressure on all 4 tires, and the problem tire wasn't fixed: the measure was significantly lower than the other three. I called to schedule another appointment. Take the car in, was told it would take 45 minutes to one hour. I grab a basket, pace myself during a shop inside the store. Its been about 1 hour 15 minutes. No call for a car pick up. Checked out and waited at the Tire Shop register area for two more hours. Three hours is WAAAYYYYY to long to have to wait for a simple puncture repair. Especially when you're told 45 minutes to one hour. Despite buying the tires at Costco and having the benefit of complimentary rotations and repairs, I think i'll just go elsewhere and pay for a faster, more efficient repair in the future. The Costco, in my opinion, is the best option for your big box bulk purchasing store. For those who actually know me, you maybe wondering why I like the Costco. I am a single female who lives alone. But I dislike having to remember to go back to the store for those items I forget, like paper towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent and the like. I would much rather buy one package with 50billion11 of that one item and stock up. While I may not buy much else, the savings and added value of being able to buy these items in bulk is worth the added effort. My most recent visit to this location was to pick up a cake from the bakery for my father and father in laws combined birthdays. Now that may confuse some people. I know! I JUST told you that I am single. That's confusing, huh. The man I refer to as my father in law is the father of my sister's husband, but as I have known him for 23 years, he is my family as well, in my opinion. I love Costco, I come here once a week at least. You get larger amounts of food at cheaper prices who doesn't love that ? I buy a lot of my staples at Costco, cheese, bread, vegetables, alcohol, they have the best quality meats, etc. The reason I love Costco as a whole though is their great customer service. You can return anything you buy here if it does not meet your standards. No arguing over dates of when it was purchased, its quick and simple. I think that is why I am not afraid to try new things from Costco, and I seldom return anything. Their food court is a bonus who doesn't like a quick meal at a great price especially after you spent all this time and energy shopping for your groceries. I love it, and my kids love it even more. This is where this location is sorely lacking. They take a very long time to make whole pizzas they are not efficient at all. It is very disorganized. There will be 10-15 people waiting and no pizzas in the oven. One person working the register, and one person in the back making everything, answering the phone and definitely not busting out the pizzas. I have had to wait at least an hour for one pizza multiple times. I call and order ahead even and it still is not done when I finish shopping. I am used to the Costco in San Luis Obispo, CA that is phenomenal. You never wait more than 15 minutes and you can always grab a slice of pepperoni, cheese, or combo. Whereas this location your lucky if they have 2 kinds of pizza, and most of the time the dough is insanely bubbly causing big patches to have no cheese on them. Can you tell I like Costco pizza? Everything else about this location is superb though, they have a great parking lot, I never wait long at the gas pump, and all of the employees are friendly. Fix the food court please. read more

Costco is one of my favorite grocery stores in Baton Rouge. They have a huge selection of items (organic anything), low wholesale prices (and some great deals every month), and unbeatable customer service. They have a super flexible return policy and surprisingly fast checkout lines! Their wine and liquor selection is huge and really inexpensive. I really love Kirkland brand items too. Of all of the discount brands (Great Value, Up and Up, etc) Kirkland is a clear leader in quality. And you just gotta love the Food Court, which is really just one food stall but it has some really inexpensive meal and snack options. I only have three gripes. One, I wish the app allowed you to locate specific items in the store because they change locations of items quite often. Two, I wish they had a Scan and Go option like Sam's club to expedite the checkout process. Finally, this place can get crazy crowded on the weekend and lines can get a bit chaotic so do your best to come on weekdays. If you don't have a Costco membership, get one! Their travel deals are fantastic. We've gone to Hawaii and Disney World and booked both trips through Costco and got EXTREMELY good deals. And if you ever rent a car, definitely do it through Costco. I then called a manager via mobile and he began to tell me that some come in to take advantage of tires, food, etc... Huh? I enjoy shopping at this Costco. This trip was for my tire service. Didn't realize it was a holiday weekend when my appointment was scheduled so had a longer wait time due to so many people getting their car serviced. Great experience overall. They required me to make appointment for tire installation. They told with appointment my wait time will be 1 to 1.5 hours instead of 3 hours. So I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment time to check in. Instead of waiting just 1-1.5 hrs, my car was done after 3 hours. To add to the injury, many cars got in after me finishing before me. Although I got the shaft, I still said thanks many times to them but I got cold shoulder with no response. What can I say..... I've been a member since 1999 ! I love Costco My husband dislikes when I come here because #1 I'm gonna take my time and look at almost everything ! #2 I'm gonna spend $ ! I hear a lot of people saying it's a lot like Sam's club. I remember when Sam's didn't take memberships but I've only been inside one years ago with my mother and we walked in, grabbed a couple items and left so I could not tell you. It's all bulk food, some clothing, shoes, bedding, furniture, toys for young and old and a bakery ! Their prices are good for our large family but if you have no where to store it then yes it's useless. I buy my milk, eggs, bread, juice, wipes and diapers here faithfully. I also purchase most of my meat here too because it's great quality and a lot so I just freeze it. Most days they have employees with products to taste which is awesome of you're like me and go to the store hungry ! They will even let you come check out the store before you commit to a membership so you can see what they have to offer. read more

I joined Costco earlier this year and liked the prices. I started purchasing several items that I use regularly at a really good price. I go back to replenish the items and now they don't carry them anymore. I was told "we have those items in stock." Where? They are nowhere to be found. And now, another item I was purchasing there is no longer available. One thing about Sam's Club, they keep merchandise for a very long time before they can no longer get it at a good price to pass on to its customers. I am really disappointed. I'm sure the last two items I purchase on a regular basis will disappear like the others. I doubt I will renew the membership. Another thing, they don't offer curbside pickup or scan and go - two of Sam's Club's features that I use frequently. read more

On the way home from work my husband got a light on his truck saying his tire was low. He pulled into Costco, off of Airline in Baton Rouge to see if he could get it checked. All the doors were open and people were walking around and they weren't busy. There were bays open, so after looking at his tire and seeing a nail, he walked in to ask if someone could do a patch. He was told even with a membership, he would have to make an appointment for tomorrow. Good thing we weren't traveling or we would be parking in their lot for the night, with a flat tire. Now my husband has to be late to work, because he has to find a place to fix it in the morning. What happened to Costco website saying "Walk-in-tire-business is Welcome" not to mention they don't close till 8:30 pm. This is truly sad in business customer service. read more

The Good: Generally good customer service. Save about 20 cents per gallon on gas. Produce isn't the best, but you can get most things in bulk for a steal. The Kirkland brand is pretty reliable as well. Crowded on the weekends, so definitely try and shop on the weekdays! (As with any store) That Bad: Costco used to be my favorite store to shop at. I had been a member for over 3 years and had been generally a proponent of their business values. However I regret to write that I had my worst customer experience with them today. While I shopped for a few hours, I finally got to the register and was told my membership had expired and was told I had to pay on the spot. I had paid for my membership and had never received any notice otherwise, and I refused because I didn't want to pay twice. My cart was confiscated and so all that shopping I did went to waste. I proceeded to talk to customer service who said it had expired. When speaking with manager Jill Lohman, she was rude to me. When asking for a free pass to shop for the day, considering I would get the situation resolved later in the night....she refused and said Costco does no such thing. (Despite the fact that I had received multiple free passes in the past.) I had never received notice (sent to wrong address) and Costco never reminded me in person that my membership was going to expire. Leaving Costco with no groceries, a wasted trip, and bad customer service...I personally don't feel the need to renew my membership. I Over the past 3 years as a Costco member, I had grown accustomed to great & friendly service that had always left me satisfied. COSTCO is the high-end bulk store and Sam's is the dollar tree bulk store. If you want quality products them go to COSTCO. This applies to the cleanliness and more importantly the attitude of the employees. COSTCO knows you have other options and Sams just doesn't care if you are there are not (I get the feeling they would be happier if you weren't) My friend has a Sams card and I have COSTCO so would go to both. When her card comes up for renewal in December it won't be renewed. You can't beat the customer service you receive here! All the employees are willing to bend over backwards to help you. I have never encountered a rude employee.....actually, most look like they are having the time of their lives! The facility is very clean too, which puts them above any other warehouse in town. Everyone from the gas attendant to the checkout person is just friendly and really goes out of their way to make it a wonderful experience. I was an Executive Member for a year, but found it was not beneficial, so they didn't discourage me at all to downgrade, no pressure, she told me to do what was right for me! BATON ROUGE LOCATION! Yesterday my husband and I went to Costco to see if our payment had been received because our membership had lapsed. We had made the incorrect assumption that we could simply pay our renewal fee at a check out. We have been members for several months and also have the Citi Costco Credit Card. We are excellent customers and speak highly of our membership. Upon visiting yesterday to see if we would be "allowed" to shop while waiting on our payment to make in through the process, we were turned away by a manager type who proudly pronounced to us we could not shop because we had gotten our bill 7 weeks in advance so "this could be avoided." She was so proud to let us leave. I'd suggest to a store manager that you train your people not to treat your paying members like elementary age children. When your manager seems to enjoy turning away members because of this technicality, you've not trained them to recognize who is paying her salary. She could have offered us a one day pass, but she wanted to make sure that we "understood" our 7 week lapse in taking care of business. She had such power..... We get it. It's a busy place and you don't really need us. My husband said when we left, "That conversation could send me back to Sam's." It's the little things in business that demonstrate great management. Treating your customers like undisciplined children does not seem like a viable solution in building great customer service. I hope an actual manager reads this. read more

COVID-19 Update: Everyone who enters the store is required to wear a mask, which made me feel safe. A customer entered before me and didn't have one and was provided a pre-wrapped one for free. It is obvious that folks are buying meat but there are still options to choose from if you need meat. Gas is $1.24 for regular. They are doing a great job of keeping lines short by having plenty of employees available to checkout. read more
