I hate stores like these. This is one of those stores that are on my last resort to shop at. Why? Way too many people. Parking is just terrible. It's like Black Friday everyday. Very annoying. The lines are horrible when it's super packed. I wish there was someone to direct the lines during a busy day to avoid arguments between customers, which by the way I did witness. Not a very nice scene, but what can you do.....it's Merced, you're bound to have those ghetto type that will cut in line and start arguments. While all this was going on and let me tell you, you could hear them from a block away, none of the workers bothered to stop the argument. Then you have those who stand in the middle of the freakin aisle just to talk and won't move over to a dead aisle. The food court/line is a freakin nightmare. No where to park your cart while you eat. Who knows if you look away for a second that someone won't steal your stuff? Like I said, I would need to be super desperate to shop there. I'd rather shop my local market, then to waste gas circling around that parking lot and wasting my time going there to be annoyed by the crowd. I do NOT recommend. This review is for the tire shop. If you'd like to be treated as if you're a brainless woman this is the place to buy tires! I called for a quote, was given a quote for their highest priced tire of course. I asked for a different brand (still good but cheaper), they were $100 less. I drove right over to the store and was given the 1st (high) price as a total...when I explained that I had called earlier the clerk rolled his eyes, sighed and said 'I'm sure you have Michelin tires'...is he psychic? No I do not have Michelin tires. Finally when we got this figured out and I was charged for the correct tires I was told it would take 1hr 45 min. When we returned the same clerk said they were just finishing up, that it would be 2 minutes....20 minutes later he came to the counter and said 'uh they're done - go get your keys...his tone reminded me of my 13 year old's (the tone that suggests that you are the stupidest person on planet earth). This person's attitude reminded me of the computer tech on SNL...the one where he gets so frustrated with people who are not computer geniuses. I was not the only person he was rude to. As I sat waiting he turned away one customer and was obnoxious to two others. As I picked up my car I realized my front tires were not replaced...my back tires were. My husband is now down there figuring that out. Never ever again will I purchase tires from Costco..I'll stick to toilet paper! I truly hope this man was having a bad day and that this is not his typical demeanor. read more

I came here the other day and with my boyfriend to get a new car battery. Why? Mine was completely dead. There was no juice in it left. Nada. Zilch! The guy there really helped us out. He looked up our car and make in a booklet and showed us which battery we should get. He even put it in a cart for us. That thing was heavy! I was completely surprised. Looks really are deceiving. Anyways, another guy rang us up and told us that if we brought in our old battery (which was also purchased from Costco), we'd at least get the core fee of $9 back. He also told us that if the old battery was within 36 months, we'd be able to get a full refund by going to membership services. It was really nice that he told us. I mean, it's money back! Who doesn't like getting their money back? After getting to my completely dead car, my boyfriend and I realized that we didn't have the right tools to get the old battery out in order to replace it with this new battery. I walked over to the tires area and the guy there lent us some tools. He even let us pump air for free into all four of my tires. Not only that, but we did it to my boyfriend's car as well. Great place. They really don't try to rip you off here. Love that! read more

I have been a long time member at Merced Costco, usually everyone is an a great attitude and friendly, but today I came across two rude employees, not sure if they were having a bad day, or if they're just use to acting disrespectful and unprofessional to the customers, but I had one worker literally look through my groceries even though she wasn't even working as a cashier, just snooping what I was purchasing and making comments on what I was purchasing and told something else to a worker there and walked away laughing. As ridiculous as this sounds and childish, this actually happened. Talk about making someone uncomfortable .....-_- read more

Went to Costco tire center in Merced for warranty coverage of my tires since they were worn beyond the wear bars and had less than 30k on them. The warranty was for 60k miles. They had been rotated on time by my mechanic and the dealer. When I presented all my paperwork to "Todd" he never even looked at it and berated me for not having the rotations done by Costco. He honored the warranty but told me he would not do it again in the future unless I had the tires rotated by Costco. He was very rude in his tone and had a horrible attitude, never smiling or even giving any eye contact. I felt belittled embarrassed by his treatment of me. He really shouldn't be dealing with customers and should be in the back rotating tires since he stated they do it better than anyone else. I buy tires for 5 cars not including my parents 2 cars but won't be in the tire center anytime soon unless "Todd" is gone. read more

Second time here at this Costco in Merced and had the same cashier (Christie), both times she's provided the worst customer service ever. So sad, she never smiles. Guess some people don't have anything to smile about. Oh well, hope her life gets better or she finds a job she loves. read more

This company is affiliated with "Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance." Beware I have been a customer for 15 years & just recently have had huge issues! First my entire fence blew down in a new home. Well they won't cover it unless I pay $2,500. deductible which is more then the fence itself! Then a young 17 year old kid hit my vehicle & they put it on me because I didn't get a police report! Yet, his father said this is his 4th accident in less than 2 months! But because I didn't get a POLICE report they were unsure. Now recently they sent out for the 3rd time why I have low mileage. They also implied my adult children were driving my car! I told them they take public transportation & not interested in driving. The millennials don't want to drive. They rather use Lyft or Uber. Yet, they didn't believe me! They sent more forms trying to somehow prove me wrong! I spent numerous hours on hold & being interrogated. Enough, now changing companies. They'll lose a policy for auto & home after 15 Years because of it! read more

Some of the employees here shouldn't have made it past the probationary period. You have guys standing around electronics unable to answer technical questions without sounding like a used car salesman and can't even help load without making us feel like we are a bothersome. Kind of condescending tone with people too. They actually need a course on not talking down at people including other employees. Really shows a lack of class. Maybe you should have them making muffins in the back, less labor intense and the muffins won't feel like they are to much trouble. read more

Although lesser in size than other Costco warehouses this place gives great service! Folks are always friendly and will make sure you are satisfied. This Costco does have items the others don't always have. read more

I shop at this Costco regular it hasn't disappoint till yesterday I purchase some food from the food court and when I got to the condiments damn it was sort of messy and very unclean. Usually the worker would come and clean the area probably maybe every 30mins Looks like no one been there for a while you see ketchup and mustard all over the place, napkins and straws on the floor and on the counter top. For retail market presentation is really important and if the worker is slacking off they shouldn't be there. It reflect on how the business is. read more

I really like their pizza but its getting on the thin side lately I don't know whether its them trying to keep costs down or something. My husband and I went to grab a bite at Costco and we got this burnt Turkey Provolone sandwich that looked extra crispy. Brought it back to the lady that got it for me and her response was "that's how we have to cook them now" and even said "yeah, I don't like mine looking like that either" and offered to give me my money back. We just had one of the sandwiches a few days ago and it was fine. My husband was not too excited about the crispness but went along with it anyway. He then went over to look at their new batch of sandwiches and they were perfectly fine like every other time we had it. Not worried about paying the price but the EMPLOYEE didn't have to lie about it. She played it off like I was stupid or something. Talk about customer service. Too bad I didn't get her name, but she was the little young one with glasses. I texted a photo to my bestie and her husband, who are both in upper management at different Costcos, and she was pissed. She was definitely embarrassed even though she doesn't work at Merced's Costco. We are fans of Costco but not fans of poor customer service. read more

I called on tuesday 01/22/2013 about 4:00 in the afternoon and asked what the wait time was to get my tires rotated. I was told 1.5 to 2 hours and that it was better to come the next day as "everyone went home" and there was only two people left. So I drive to costco the next day at around 2:30 in the afternoon and am told that it would be a 2 hour wait because there were 8 other people in front of me buying tires. I asked why there isnt someone to take care of services for people who already bought tires, services like rotations and flat fixes. Jobs that take only 10-15 minutes. I was told that their policy is first come first serve and that you are only helped in the order you arrive, no matter whether you are purchasing tires or having service done on tires you already purchased. That policy is absolutely ridiculous. Anyone who goes to purchase a set of new tires understands that its a longer process than getting tires rotated that you already bought. Tire rotation is a 10 minute job!!!!! They should have an employee thats dedicated to servicing tires already sold, things like flat repair, rotation,checking air pressure, airing up a tire thats a little low etc etc. Not Costco...Two hour wait to have tires rotated. Lesson learned here...the lower price they sell tires at is not worth it when you factor in the hassle of getting a simple service done on the tires you already bought. My next set of tires will be purchased somewhere that provides service in a timely manner. read more

Worst customer service at merchandise return... was in line waiting for about 20 mins. After being in the only line.where they were actually helping clients... people started forming up.in the actual line for return merchandise. After seeing that they started helping them.they helped two customers and I professionally whent and spoke to them regarding my situation. After everything that was said.they refused to help me.and told me it was a first come first serve. Making no sense. Since I had been their way before anyone on that line. They told me I had to wait at the end of the line.that their was nothing they could do. Bill was the first employee I spoke to. Then it was Sean at the exit, he helped me by calling the supervisor Jackie.although when Jackie came along I explained everything that happened, what I tried doing.after everything was said she said the same thing. I had to wait at the end of the line. I also stated I was on holiday leave.me beeing in the military service for almost 9 years. I wasn't trying to spend my day in costco. I was trying to do what I had to do and come back home.with my 5 year old. Nothing was done. So I decided to leave. Screw them... Store is kept clean and organized. Good selection as far as what our family needs, although in some areas like furniture, they carry higher end products than what I would prefer (we have to be budget minded) . Agree with poster who said foodcourt is not set up well, and nowhere to put your cart while you wait. and wait. and wait. Overall, staff is pleasant enough, but some of them talk excessively to each other while you are checking out and hardly even acknowledge you. There is one employee, Juanita, I will avoid from now on, even if she has the shortest line. Unfriendly is an understatement. When I asked at checkout where some nuts were that I could not locate, she told me they were not out and should be with the other nuts. When I explained that they were not there, there was no "I'm sorry you had trouble," no offer to have an employee look for them or anything, just that I could get them next time. Really? You call that customer service? The next time I was in her line, no smile, no how is your day, nothing. In the parking lot, be careful of pedestrians crossing everywhere except the crosswalks, and giant boulders that the landscapers placed way too close to the corners. And like others have noted, oblivious drivers who block entire rows while waiting for a place. Good savings, some flow issues with the lot and foodcourt, and mostly good service. read more
