Merced Costco needs to improve on their product offerings. Other stores up and down the valley have more to offer those on Keto. Their produce is always a 1 day shelf life after leaving store and usually well on its way to the garbage before that--I no longer buy produce from this store. I have always loved Costco merced for many years. Until today... we took my mentally challenged older brother to get him a new TV. We somehow got separated from my husband who was taking our groceries to the car. I didn't have my card for reentry. I was waiting for him at the exit doors explaining to Juan my dilemma . He just kept telling me I couldn't stand at the exit and to move out of peoples way. So I went to the entrance and pleaded with the guy to let me look for him. He was kind enough to do so! afterwards I was both relieved and angry, I let Juan know what he didn't was really sh*#+y!! He just laughed at me as I started to cry. Went to go return some pants , the lady at the returns Rebecca was so rude , her tone wasn't friendly , she was all over the place , she couldn't find one of my item on my shopping list , then she told me she looked all the way back to 2015 ... like really that was along time ago , then I told her it was probably a gift , I couldn't remember , all she kept doing was saying it wasn't in any of my orders ... OMG!! Ok can we move on ? Then to top things off she asked me if I wanted a list of everything I have bought at Costco , like NO, that's your job , she really wanted me to go through all that list. The gas pumps are usually backed up but today I was in almost immediately. While I was waiting a young man from Costco, Steve, was helping the car right ahead of me. When that car left and I was pulling ahead, Steve started helping another older woman. As I was filling my car I asked his name and he told me. Then the pump I was using was out of paper. This Costco was a lifesaver for us because we really needed to find a Costco on the way to Yosemite this way to pick up all the needed items for our weekend "glamping" trip in the woods. I loved that it also had Costco gas, cheap gas for the 180+ mile journey! This Costco is well organized, everything was easy to find, everything was where it should had been, and of course we ended up scope creeping to pick up a few additional items as is typical of the case of going to Costco and shopping with a larger group. The staff was helpful, friendly and the check out was quick and easy! The parking lot is my only complaint since it's very oddly organized and cars can park way too close to one another. This would be fine otherwise but when you go to Costco you have a LOT of stuff to stuff into the cars and need the extra space. read more

This Costco is pretty much like any other Costco. The last time I was here was on Sunday, February 7, 2010 (Superbowl XLIV). I was there with one of my college roommates getting Costco pizza for the game. It took 2 hours to get 2 boxes of pizza, because 'everyone' was getting pizza! Although it took long, we didn't miss the first half of the game because we went to the break room and stood sort of to the side of it. We were waiting for someone to say we weren't allowed to watch, but no-one said anything, and when employees walked by, they were just smiling. One even asked me "who's up?" and I replied back. Again, this is pretty much your standard Costco. Tax in Merced is a % less than in the bay area which is great. The only thing is that if it's your first time going to this Costco, you shouldn't rely on internet directions because they're not right. I get the feeling that Costco doesn't care too much about this Costco as much as other Costcos. I've been to plenty other Costcos such as in Bakersfield, Fresno, and even in Turlock. In fact being an incoming college student I was looking at laptops in this Costco. I bought one but returned it because of defects so I just borrowed one for that year. The next year I was looking at laptops again and checked out the ones here. Lo and behold they were selling the same laptops as the year before. No new inventory whatsoever! I went to Turlock and WOW! What a difference! This is not to say that I don't shop here. I do do my bulk shopping here but if you ever want to see the differences between Costcos there is no more stark of a difference than here. read more

I've been here twice. Both times were positive experiences. First trip was a solo one where I bought AirPods for my cousin. Second trip was with the family to buy food. Employees here are nice and helpful but also quick. It's not as big a location as the ones I'm used to in the Bay Area and Las Vegas. On the plus side, it's not busy. For someone like myself who shops at the San Jose locations for many years, this is a dream lol! I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to spend some time looking for parking. It reminds me of Black Friday! This location is no different than the others except the size of it. The parking lot is not as big but it's also not busy. We always called to order our pizza over the phone when we were already shopping in the warehouse, like that by the time we're done shopping our pizza would be ready & we could then leave. This time, we ordered the pizza at the registers along with our $300 worth of groceries- unfortunately the employee had terrible customer service. We were treated like a transaction, and wasn't given a heads up to check in at the food court for them to prepare our pizza, (isn't making a purchase of pizza enough of a heads up?) Anyways, I didn't check in at the food court because I was unaware of that rule. I Left to load the groceries into my car, and returned. Once I returned, Mom had sundaes to treat on while we waited to pick up the pizza. As we waited in line for our pizza, they had told us that it'd take 20 minutes for them to make our pizza- How ridiculous is that? If that is a rule, those who buy pizza behind the store registers should at least be told, "HEY MAKE SURE YOU CHECK IN @ THE FOOD COURT SO THEY CAN MAKE YOUR PIZZA." He is someone that should not be in a customer service position. After that horrible experience, I went to a different tire shop and purchased tires. While I'm happy they are open on Saturday I'm very unhappy with the cr@p that occurred today. I received a notifucation my meds were ready. I drove across town to pic to my meds at 1:00. She checks my ID and says yes it's ready but I can't have it. It needs to be checked by a pharmacist. It's clearly posted on the wall that between 1:30 and 2:30 pharmacist will be at lunch for 30 minute. I do know how to tell time it was 1 when I got there. They're now closed tomorrow which is Sunday which is another day that I have no medication. Don't call if you are not ready. If they're open at the appropriate time be prepared for your customers. I always go out of my way to give kudos on reviews where they are due. This evening at 5:45pm I was getting gas at Costco for my blue Kia Stinger. I was asking the gentleman manning the pumps if they also had air for tires (my sensor went on for my driver side rear tire), and he said I could have the gentleman at the tire shop check my tire for me. So I drove over to the tire shop and a guy with glasses was super friendly, and told me to pull up to the bay so he could check my tire. Sure enough, it was low. Only 28psi and it's supposed to be 36. He then checked the other 3 tires and they were all around 28psi so he filled them up too. Fast. Friendly. Didn't treat me like I was bothering them which was a plus. He educated me on weather change affecting tire pressure and to check my tires monthly.... and to not rely on my tire sensors. Noted! I love Costco but not this one. I won't shop anywhere that favors religion over others. I've noticed this Costco doesn't carry any frozen meals with pork in it. The only reason to do this is to appease certain religious groups over others. News flash this is America and here in this country we have freedom of religion and by doing what you are doing you prioritize another religion above others. In this country we have freedom of choice except you limit mine for some one else's religion. I asked an employee why you do this and I got my answer. How dare this Costco do this. I work in Hanford a couple days a month and they do not do this so this is being done regionally. So to the person who owns it manages this Costco shame on you. Not the best costco I have been to and probably will not come back. The parking lot is a crazy design and very hard to drive around in. The return center is a side door where you have to line up and stand outside, which is a very weird way they have it set up. This costco is also on the smaller side and just feels like you have a warehouse store trying to fit inside a small grocery sized space. read more

I told my wife to take the vehicle to Costco to have it check out. When she got to Costco they conveniently could not find our records and therfore could not help us. This review is for the Tire Center. Called and Shane said they could fix a flat for $14. Brought the car down, checked it in with him, he said, "It's $11.99, give us about an hour." We decide to go to lunch while we wait. Not ten minutes go by, Shane calls me and says, "We can't fix this. It looks like you've been driving on this flat for a while (BS-it went flat overnight), the tires are more than six years old (BS, we bought new tires at Calderon in the bay less than two years ago), and there's sidewall erosion (more BS discovered after my dad and I both looked at it when we picked it up). What I can do is get you two new tires out the door for $405." I told him I'd call him back. Looked on Yelp and found Fast Tire. Not only did they fix my flat, if I'd needed two new tires, it would've only been $170 out the door. If you insist on dealing with Shane or Costco's Tire Shop, be ready to bend over and make sure you bring lube. read more

They started complaining about another employee in the bosses office with the door closed. Today I called Costco to recycle 6 motorcycle tire because I read online that they recycle your tire for 1$. Call first the tire department at 10:13 AM. One of the employees confirmed that they would take my tires. When I showed up there they were ok, so I took down the tire and I went to pay. At this point, they talk to Mr Marc that refuses to take my tire. So, I have to reload the tire and take it back. Obviously wasting the time and jerking around the customer it is normal at Costco. One time I got a 100$ bill from them and they refused to change into 20's bills. I get much better service at Walmart ot Target without paying 110 $ for executive membership. read more

Recently had an unfortunate situation happen to my husband & I. We had renewed our membership right before Thanksgiving (11/20 to be exact) and there were 2 different occasions where we came in twice after that to purchase some items and both times we were told our membership was inactive. Went to membership desk to try and figure it out, but they couldn't find anything in their system stating we had paid. Very frustrating! Come to find out, an employee made the mistake of being off by a number on our membership number so they couldn't find anything. Felt as though we were brushed off as untruthful, but in the end they did resolve the situation in a timely manner after showing them the receipt. read more

My biggest complaint is that it's hidden inside this wall of trees and it's really easy to just drive right past the parking lot entrance. One start is even too much for the way I was mistreated! At the service desk miss "Briana or Bri" was so disrespectful to me and my family. It was my first time in nearly 10 years that I decided that I would get a Costco card. As I came up to the service desk I was rudely greeted by "Bri" and was asked to go around for my new membership card. I did exactly what she told me and waited a long time before she than waited for me on another window and since she knew what I was there for she just rudely said to go online and sign up for my membership. I was shocked not only by her response but how she knowingly send me to a long line to later tell me something she could of informed me at the very first interaction we had. There was another couple getting a membership card and so this didn't make sense to me at all. I asked for a manager and the fortunately corrected the situation. My business would have been lost forever if the management team would of not taken the time to help me but team members need to be train a lot better in dealing with valued customers.
