Rude rude rude! Was trying to return an item and the old lady with short blonde hair kept yelling on my way towards the entrance for return. The staffs there needs to take a course in customer service. A girl in optical gave me an attitude when I was trying to purchase some contacts because she tried to give me a 6 months supply instead of the one year, without asking. She rolled her eyes and gave me back my cards with an attitude. Luckily there was a lady that helped me and was nice about it. Customer service had gone downhill. read more

We have been costco members for years, here in Merced,CA., and in N.Y. state. I own a recent model BMW and purchased a set of 4 Bridgestone Serenity tires from Costco of Merced. The first time I brought it back to them for tire rotation was the summer of 2011 and they lifted the car in the wrong place bending and creasing the body kit below the back right door, it had to be reshaped, filled in, and repainted. This time, on April 3rd 2012 I returned to find the car UNLOCKED sitting at the curb with my 64 GIG ipod missing from the charger in the middle console. (I have the apple receipt $439), and now a police report containing the serial number of the stolen device. The tire shop attendant told us (and another customer) that he was alone and THE ONLY EMPLOYEE working the tire dept that evening, but the next day the tire dept manager (Sean) said that was impossible because there were TWO employees that evening. COSTCO said from the store, and from their Chicago offices that they are NOT responsable for any damages or anything missing from cars while the cars are in their possession. I refuse to be taken advantage of. it's difficult to escape the infamous "costco 100" (spending less than 100 bucks). even if i'm going in just to buy some toothpaste, i inevitably get distracted by some great deal or interesting new product that i end up leaving with a cart full-o-goods. and tonight wasn't any different. we made our way here on a friday evening... i expected it to be busy but the crowds were a lot less compared to the bay area yet there was still an abundance of free sample tables and alas, a lack of customers to fully enjoy all that free sample goodness. also, less people = quick food court service too! as usual, spacious, clean, good deals (as long as you're going to be able to use 5 gallons of soy sauce etc) and some of the specialties here include the large abundance of super fresh onions (although the cutie oranges had mold on them - yuck!). read more

Costco photo needs help, the supervisor can't find a order she missed 10 months ago, I told her when I picked up the order it was incomplete and she said it was complete, and I had no more orders, a month ago I got a phone call from a gentleman at Costco photo stating that my order still hadn't been picked up, I stated the lady said it was complete and the gentleman was going to hold it for pickup, Came back to pickup the Feb order and the lady supervisor said it is too old to look up in the computer ( but Costco can hold all of our photos online?) and she couldn't find the order on the rack, so it's not there,, again couldn't find it, Can't and do not argue with the lady supervisor, won't get anywhere,, read more

I have been to a few Costcos and I will say Merced's is the best in customer service. My family have been members for 2 years and make maybe 2 visits a month. The employees always welcome us, and are very friendly. Some of our favorite employees treat us as if we are their best friends. The parking on busy days is a nightmare, and moving about the parking lot can be challenging. If you don't have a membership, go on by ask for a free pass and check it out. You'll get a membership and enjoy the great service. read more

I love Costco's products. Their Kirkland brand is always very very good. Though their selection isn't the best items they have the lowest prices I have seen for the specific items that they do have. Usually everything they have is well-stocked. Their employees are definitely not "charm schooled" and can be quite rude at times. There is a long line for returns most of the time and the long line at checkout most of the time. But if waiting in line is worth saving money this is the place. I love Costco. We are here almost 3 days a week. Whether we're shopping, sample-hopping, or eating good food at the cheap food court, there is always something good at Costco. I wish they carried the Starbucks Vanilla Frappuccino's by themselves rather than being sold in the same package as the Coffee Frappuccino's. We usually make a trip every month and a half to the Business Costco in Hayward to fill our desire of the Vanilla Frappuccino's! If you haven't visited the Business Costco, check it out! I just love Costco. They seem to have almost anything you want. Of course it's in bulk but their prices and quality seem great. I always get their milk and eggs. You can't beat the milk prices. Eggs are priced well too. Their tvs are cool. They have all the sizes you could ask for. The food court has the best price on pizza. Either by the slice or whole. I can't forget their bakery either. Normally I'm a huge fan of costco but the tire repair aspect just sucks. My mother went in to get her tire patched (nail inside) and they said they couldn't repair it. What kind of tire place is not able to replace a tire?!? Five hours later we got it fixed at another place AND had the tire placed back on perfectly. A female employee name tagged "AC" didn't even bother to look up from her register to say hello, not even after I said "Hi how are you" as I gave her my member card. She gave me zero acknowledgement throughout my entire transaction, not even a thank you!! I honestly just go here for the food court. I don't buy as much groceries as I wish I would but I do buy a lot of bottled waters and coffee at a great price. The food court can be crazy and ridiculous and the workers in the food court seem all nice while they're trying to fulfill customers orders. Costco. My go to for everything. It's a single man's kitchen. Microwave everything. They come in bulk so sometimes this can be hard to finish if you don't have many mouths to feed. But they do have awesome deals and good quality supplies. It's my go to place. I come here often and my fat wallet full of money disappears. It's probably one of the most deceiving things. I rarely come out here not spending a bill. Parking is easy compared to other costco I've been to. They have great selections of seafood. Probably the only place I go to buy seafood. I was in the Merced store this evening and needed to remove the additional member and add my boyfriend who just moved in with me from Sacramento to go to college down here in Fresno. Linda was very short and cold staying with no explanation that she needed an ID with the same address on it or she couldn't do anything. I told her my mom was the other person on mine and we didn't have matching addresses. She simply repeated herself without any embellishment and scanned my card. She told me it said it was expired. I told her it expired August 31 but i had just paid for the renewal at the register 10 minutes before. I use my Costco card very often and have for years. She handed it back to me and said very shortly it won't let me do anything for 24 hours and turned away from me. I started to ask another question and she said Sir ,"I'm not trying to give you a hard time but these are the rules." to which i replied, "Well you are not being very helpful." Without saying another word she turned, walked to the phone and called for a manager. "ASAP" A minute later she picked up the line and called again but stayed over by the phones, never coming back near us like we had the plague. Finally a manager showed up and stated that Costco is now enforcing a lot of rules that they never had before as i turned I saw Linda grabbing her purse and wallet to rush out and it dawned on me: she was off and was rushing us through so she could go. I let the manager and Linda know in that moment that I was very unhappy with this interaction and that it started from the very beginning of her greeting us but he didn't look very interested. read more

This place is always filled up! Every part of the store has someone in it. So I make sure that if I'm making a purchase it is something that I really really need, or something that I really really want. The customer service is not too bad. But they don't usually talk to you, they usually just hurry up and try to cash you out because there are a lot of people in that line. Their merchandise is alright. I personally don't think they have a wide selection in some sections. And in other sections they have very wide selections! But that's just me! I find their prices a little expensive. But their not as high as some other stores. They have lots of samples to try, which I find to my liking, being that I would like to taste what I'm about to buy before I do. Because what is I don't like it? And I'm stuck with a whole bag of something that costed me some money? Overall it is a good place to shop to find everything your looking for in one place. Tire center is probably the worst service I've ever received. I waited an hour and a half for them to "check out" my tire that is leaking air. They apparently wouldn't fix it because the nail wasn't within an inch of the outer part of the tire...Like wtf? No you're just too lazy to actually fix it! Ugh never again! The store is always swamped with customers. So employees are not always the friendliest. I have been given attitude before showing my Costco card. Make sure to have that on hand! Store is always stocked and clean. The food court is always on point. Pizza never disappoints but the churros on the other hand sometimes come out stale. But other than that great store. read more

I like this Costco and I usually go to cashiers that I know give good customer service. I was in a hurry though so I went with the shortest line with people that weren't buying very much. All I was buying was a pack of filet mignon for dinner, which was awesome!! Thanks to the meat dept!! Now back to when I was in line. The young lady cashier and her young man helper were just talking and talking and talking. Not engaging with the customers at all. She was talking about if she was going to go back to school and if she could handle it etc etc. When it was my turn she started to ring up the wrong basket because she wasn't paying attention to what she was doing. So when I told her all that stuff she had run up wasn't mine except for the meat she was like oh? Maybe one of the front end managers should help watch and make sure the customers are getting greeted engaged and talk to instead of the employees chatting and ignoring the customers. The products Costco sell are great and so are the prices most of the time but there employees get paid well and have good benefits so they should be held to a high standard at that front end. read more

We have been using the Merced Costco since it opened and loved it, but no more. The buyer for this Costco must be nuts. We've noticed in the last few months that our choices have been taken away. It used to be normal to find a choice of product..regular, and then the same product in an organic. Now the regular products are disappearing, and the only thing left is the organic version..at a higher price. Certain things we bought every trip are now not available anymore..one being the large bags of Splenda, which has been discontinued in favor of Stevia!! Pot stickers..pork and veggie are now discontinued and only the veggy is available. Try and find some of the meat dishes in beef!, not available, replaced with chicken. There was a wonderful fresh squeezed orange juice available ..one regular, one organic. Now the regular is gone and only the organic version remains. Most of the other products like canned sauces, soups and canned items are only available in low fat and no salt added. I'm all for health, but don't like having my choices taken away and organic stuff forced on me. Get with it Costco in Merced. This town is not the big city with organic loving health nuts. Stop forcing that on us. read more
