My goodness! Victoria P. at checkout was certainly in a mood today. We stopped by to pick up dishwasher detergent. It's our first time shopping at a Costco and my partner and I don't know our stuff quite yet. I try to pay at checkout and she gets very snappy with me. Apparently I can't pay because the membership card is in my partner's name, nevermind that we are a single household and that we signed up together... She told me Costco isn't open to the public, kind of suggesting that I needed to leave the premises. I am very confused and try to explain, and she cuts me off to ask me if in another situation I would be able to "use his driver's license." Wow, I didn't realize this was such srs business (Also just all sass and no bark, you can certainly use someone else's driver's license situationally, for example for picking up a prescription...)! Okay, so he ended up using my same card on Apple Pay via *his* phone. What a difference you have made. Did the power trip feel good? If that's Costco's policy, fine, I accept and will learn for the future, but I would have appreciated being informed normally. The sarcasm was totally uncalled for. So thanks for gracing me with your wisdom Victoria; I know that Costco is a lot more annoying than Sam's Club now. read more

Located in the TownGate Promenade on Day & Gateway near the 60 & 215 FWYs. There's plenty of parking but can be difficult finding an open spot near the entrance during busy hours. The warehouse is consistently well-organized and fully stocked, making it easy to find everything. Food court inside by registers. I visited specifically for a cake and appreciated the wide variety available. While the staff is always helpful, my recent visit was exceptional. A huge shoutout to Lafayette F., who noticed my hands were full and went above and beyond to grab me a cart since I hadn't taken one at the entrance. It is always a great feeling to land in a checkout lane with such friendly, attentive service. Overall, this location consistently delivers an excellent experience. read more

Probably my last review as I won't renew my membership. I drive the 6 plus miles from city of Riverside this morning and pull into the parking lot and realize it's 9:25 am. I do pause because of the abundance of parking but I see people going in and out so I park and go inside. At the entry machine the card beeped with what had to be an inappropriate tone because the gentle greeter told me I couldn't come in until ten. I didn't have the special pass. Imagine having a business you could restrict your customers by their gold status. Being a boomer I didn't want to 1) sit in the hot parking lot for a half an hour or 2) shop locally and come back and 10. I chose the latter so I didn't waste the trip. Still the audacity to restrict your clientele by their willingness to pay more is pure arrogance. I won't be back. read more

Does anyone else feel like some of the employees in self-checkout are rude? Every time I go I seem to get this older woman who is overseeing the registers. I always make sure to unload as much of my cart as possible but will ask for help with the large items (like toilet paper at the bottom of my cart or a heavy set of drinks). She then treats it like an inconvenience, but scans them for me and tells me I can do it myself next time. Mind you, I'm by myself and have a baby strapped to me. And is that not apart of their job to assist when needed? She doesn't want to help the costumers but she'll chat up a storm with her coworkers. I hate asking for help and I wouldn't if I didn't need it, but that is just a new level of laziness. read more

Very Disappointing Customer Service Experience - Costco Optical, Moreno Valley Day Street I am extremely disappointed with the way I was treated by a sales representative in the Optical Department at the Moreno Valley Costco on Day Street. I went to the Optical Department to inquire about having replacement lenses put into sunglasses frames that I had previously purchased at this same Costco several years ago. The representative challenged me regarding the original purchase because Costco's current records only go back three years. I explained that the sunglasses had been purchased at this Costco and asked a reasonable question: if Costco was the optical provider when I originally purchased the frames, why would Costco not be willing to replace the lenses in those frames? The response I received was particularly disappointing. I was told, "You're not at a church. Costco operates for a profit." I was then essentially told that replacing the lenses in my existing frames was not profitable enough for Costco to take on the business of selling me only the lenses, and that I could go somewhere else--specifically, Walmart was suggested. I understand that Costco is a business and operates to make a profit. However, I found the manner in which this was communicated to me to be completely inappropriate and unnecessarily dismissive. I have worked in sales for many years, and I would never speak to one of my customers in this manner or tell them to take their business to a competing retailer. Even when we cannot accommodate a customer's request, there is a professional and respectful way to explain the situation. What makes this especially disappointing is that I have generally viewed Costco as a company that places a high value on customer service. This interaction did not reflect that experience. I hope Costco management reviews this situation and reminds its employees that how you communicate with a customer matters just as much as the transaction itself. A customer should not be made to feel that their business is insignificant simply because the requested service may not be as profitable as another sale. read more

I love Costco. I am biased. I've requested my husband throw me a Costco themed birthday party. If they would hire me, even for a part time, I'd do it for free. That's how much I love Costco. Now, they're not perfect, but I am forgiving. For example, their Greek Yogurt is not always in stock and the renovations at the food court took much longer than they originally stated. Also, there was a phase when the staff working self-checkout were raising their voices in people's face demanding to see their Costco card and checking their photos against it. I get it. Costco became stricter, but the staff could have done a better job with customer service. But I digress. Nearly everything we own comes from Costco. I own 5 dogs and foster 2 for a total of 7 so it's convenient to be able to get a lot of their stuff here in bulk. One of my absolutely favorites is the dehydrated salmon treats they always sell out, but are now being inexplicably removed from shelves. I am devastated. But Costco always has me coming back. I was born and raised in Los Angeles so let me tell you, parking here is incredibly easy in comparison. I've always managed to find a parking spot and a shopping cart at this location. Even when the check out lines are long, we manage to get through fairly quickly. read more

The costco food court is located inside the building so there isn't too much space to wait in line. Luckily, I grabbed the opportunity at a short line and decided to try their calzone. I was not expecting a hardened cheese layer on top. Too bad it wasn't gooey but the cheese flavor was prominent. The calzone itself wasn't that great and I wouldn't get it again. I came to this location on the way home for a road trip. It was so hot in Riverside that I needed to check my tire pressure before getting on the freeway. The way that this location is set up is a bit awkward. If you try to enter the location from the gasoline pumps to get to tire center, you must wait in the gas line. There is no way around the gas line to the tire air machines. If you come for just air, I recommend driving around to the back of the Costco building and then entering near the truck loading dock, where the tire air machines are just over the wall at the loading dock. Only one way in and out for the tire air machines. After the long 10min wait in the gas line, there was only 1 tire air machine working so I had to wait another 3-5 minutes for a young man to finish his truck tires. This 15 minute total setback and the 1 tire air machines broken is why I have a 3 star rating. Makes me appreciative of our San Diego Costcos, fully functional air machines and several ways to get to the tire air machines. read more

This location is not execute member friendly. The store is never ready to be opened when I walk in. I usually purchase ground beef and multiple times they've had none. At times the aisles are full of pallets so they close off entire aisles so I have to wait to get items that I am there to purchase. read more

Busy store! I was taken aback at a force by the long lines at 9am. Mind you, it was Saturday. Costco has a new to me policy where they scan your photo and membership at the door. Be prepared for the line! Most greeters were nice. However, a couple clearly needed coffee to welcome the nice of their morning. Spacious, plenty of products and easy check out process. Self-checkout was also easy. Parking is a bit of a Easter Egg hunt. You must search, be ready and prepared to swoop in when you see a space! Overall, will return. My son and daughter had a very uncomfortable experience at this Costco. They were playing with the Lego set on display (which everyone was touching) and put it back, but a "secret shopper" started following them for no reason. She wasn't even trying to hide it, pretending to be on the phone with an AirPod in, but showing up in every aisle they went to. At one point she hid behind a set of toys, pretending to browse, but stared at my kids while on the phone for almost 10 minutes. My kids tested it by purposely losing her, and sure enough, they caught her speed-walking aisle to aisle looking for them. When she spotted them, she immediately stopped and pretended nothing happened. She only left when they did. The whole thing lasted about 30 minutes and made my kid feel extremely uncomfortable. It was unprofessional, weird, and unnecessary. We thought you were good costco, we will be cancelling our membership cause this is not the first time this has happened. read more

What's up: Needed to fill up before our trip and this Costco Gas Station was the most convenient one, right of the 60 fwy in the direction that we were heading. Environment: The place was pretty organized for a gas station. They had dividers/cones lining the route to direct you into two lines. There were a couple curves that were a bit narrow, so be sure to leave room for people to back up if needed. All three methods of verifying membership works! So you can totally pull up your membership on your phone and get that scanned. Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. Overall, for a Costco gas station, this place was pretty good. The wait was not too bad and the separate lanes helped keep the cars moving. Credit cards and ApplePay are accepted. read more

Worst experience ever at this location. I get the location is Moreno Valley but I'd rather be shopping at Sam's Club. Parking lot is horrendous, gas stations are zig zagged up and generally locked up by a gas tank always filling the place. The lines for food court are ridiculously long and exceessive waits. Customers are not friendly and employees can be short tempered with the rush of people. Just bad vibes overall. Winco is across the street too if you need a new spot to shop. read more

Daniel at the tire center here has no respect for people's time. I came in as he was finishing up with the man before me and he asked me to wait while he delivered his paperwork. Understandable. After 10 minutes, he came back and started helping others who came in after me and kept asking me to keep waiting. 15 mins after my arrival he still had not asked me what I had come in for or anything. I love coming to Costco and shopping. They have a lot of great merchandises and food here. Being single, I wish they would provide things in smaller quantities. I mainly get gas here and a few food items and the hot dog bargain on the way out. If you have a large family, this is the place to shop for for groceries. Gas is always cheaper than local gas stations. I recently purchased 4 tires here and got a great deal on 4 tires from their online store. I've tried to live without Costco but I can't. Every time I come here I'm reminded of a better world. Where prices are incomparable, food is cupped and in line waiting to be sampled, entertainers are just waiting for an audience to watch them speak with their handy dandy microphones as you watch them blend fruits. Butchers swivel their carts of beautifully marbled meats and the bakers pastries and cakes entice you with the glisten of butter and chocolate ganache. Where things are larger, in packs of two and food reaches to the heavens. You can do Christmas shopping in September and there's always pizza. Now if we could only have two gas stations. read more

Took my car in and it took longer than they had said. They were closed when I came to pick up the car so they just pulled it out the shop and just handed me the keys outside the shop door. It was night time and I headed home. Come the next day I see a scratch on the top of my car. They have you place these magnetic cones on the top of your car when you drop it off. Well I guess the worker who was working on my car didnt notice my roof is all GLASS. There was no way that cone was going to stay up there. As they drove the vehicle into the service bay the cone must've slid off scratching everything in its way. I have scratches on my glass roof and on my sunroof windscreen. Its a shame that they didnt bring it to my attention instead of me taking it home to find the damage myself. Shady business ethics. Not even going to try and deal with having them fix it as the time arguing with corporate and their insurance is not worth my time. Lesson learned, take your vehicles elsewhere! read more

This costco does have apple pay for anyone wondering. The food court is also inside and it's self service. You order at a kiosk then pay, and afterwards you wait in line to get your food by presenting your receipt. I like how close this Costco is for the surrounding neighborhoods. The gas station here is also significantly more affordable than the competing Chevron's and other gas stations around the city. Parking is as expected for any Costco. Overall no issues. read more

I just witnessed a situation at Costco where they berated a woman over a return! They made her her cry in the store while they laughed at her. I can't believe what I saw. I don't know what exactly happened but even the manager was rude to this lady. Costco has an excellent return policy and I honestly don't know what the return was but it was such a sad thing to witness I can't believe any human would treat someone so rudely over a return. Unfortunately I don't have a membership, so I only go when I tag a long with someone who does. I like their selection of products, especially the 3-piece salmon with garlic butter. It's pretty expensive, so I don't purchase it often, but when I do, it's definitely worth it. I ordered a coffee drink from their cafe and that thing was TERRIBLE! I wanted so bad to like it, because it looked quite appealing on the menu. I really need to try those churros....they seem to be a customer favorite. read more

Costco is known for having one of the easiest, most customer friendly return policies in retail -- yet this location (Moreno Valley #455) acted like processing a basic return was an unreasonable demand instead of standard customer service. Their behavior goes against everything Costco claims to stand for. Costco literally states, "If you are not satisfied with a purchase for any reason, we will gladly accept the item for a full refund." Clearly, this store did not get the memo. They should be ashamed of the way their staff treats customers. One of my employees went in for a basic return, and instead she was mocked, belittled, and humiliated to the point that she was crying at the counter -- with her small children watching. The staff refused to issue the return and spoke to her in a demeaning manner, condescending manner. Even the manager behaved unprofessionally, dismissing her concerns and walking away laughing. That is a complete failure of leadership and basic human decency. This is bullying, not customer service!!!! My employee stood her ground -- in tears, and only then did someone finally call the counter and authorize the return. Even during the transaction, the staff continued laughing at her and making belittling remarks. That is not "poor customer service" -- that's hostile, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable behavior. What makes this even more alarming is that when I came to write this review, I found that a witness who saw the incident firsthand had already posted about what happened to my employee. That confirms this was not just her perception. When a bystander feels compelled to speak up, you know the behavior was outrageous. We have already contacted customer service and will be escalating this to headquarters. Our business will not step foot in this location again, and we will not be renewing our membership. After this experience, it is obvious this location has zero respect for its customers. If this is what Costco considers acceptable, then they have lost far more than a return -- they have lost a loyal business member of 20 years. read more
