Zero stars if I could. Galbreath Costner is the worst company I've ever dealt with--unprofessional, disorganized, and flat-out disrespectful. We waited over 3 hours at the closing table because they weren't prepared. Then they made me wait a full month for money I was owed after closing--only to show up on the scheduled day and still not have the check ready. Customer service is atrocious. Christie at the front desk is rude and condescending. Tia (or Tiffany) is unresponsive, hangs up on you, and avoids all communication. And the CEO, Nathan? Never responded to a single email or voicemail. If I hadn't been forced to use this firm by my lender, I never would have. If you have a choice, do NOT use Galbreath Costner. This lawyer was chosen for me from the developer who sold me two properties. The lawyer gave poor directions to their office in Myrtle Beach and the wrong address. Once I got to the office, they were decent for the closing process. After the sale, I needed a question answered so I called multiple times, leaving voicemails. I also emailed through the website many times. Never once getting a response. I feel they only handle closings and only deal with customers during the closing. As soon as it's done, they will ignore you. read more

I've been forced to use Costner Law to close two properties that I've been a part of. Both have been long and challenging. Very unresponsive and almost impossible to contact. Get transferred to a ghost voicemail repetitively. Never received closing documents until we showed up for closing. Headed into the office like cattle. Never again if I can help it. My builder used this company for closing and what a joke they were. It was unorganized. They didn't send me the information to make my closing payment. I was delayed. I asked them to call me when the keys were ready to go back and pick them up as they said they couldn't give them to me until the wire cleared. No one called. My wife was recommended this law firm strongly by a real estate agent Megan who was assisting her to view homes in North Carolina. Megan insisted on this firm she said she does a lot of business with them. My wife myself and my daughters made several trips back and forth from Queens New York to Charlotte NC to look at houses. Megan who at that time worked with Weichart Sally Awad office located in Arsely Charlotte NC not sure if she still works there, my wife myself and my two daughters have had no communication with Megan, a few weeks after closing which was on July 19, 2024. There was supposed to be an attorney from this firm in the Charlotte location who was supposed to represent my wife but for some reason no attorney ever showed up to represent her for her closing. Basically what the real estate agent Megan and a paralegal named Samantha who told my wife she is attorney Nikalas paralegal from the Charlotte office Samantha told my wife that attorney Nikalas was the attorney based in the Charlotte NC location the real estate agent Megan also said that, my wife was never told by anyone that attorney Nikalas represents the seller weeks after July 19, 2024 we found out that Nikalas is the seller attorney who also works for this firm but in the Indian Trail NC location that attorney whose first name is Nikalas took control of the closing they never told my wife that the seller was using the same law office this office because my wife myself and my daughters would never have agreed to continue with this firm or any of their attorneys. My wife ID's was only given to the receptionist on July 19, 2024 before 10am that was the day her closing was scheduled the receptionist told my wife that her information will be kept safe in her files in that office location Charlotte NC. Couple of weeks later the paralegal Samantha who appears to be very close friends with the real estate agent Megan handed over my wife personal information to that seller attorney in the Indian Trail NC location Nikalas without my wife consent and authorization. The home that my wife purchased was a cash purchase no type of loans no mortgages. That seller attorney named Nikalas my wife found out had the city registrar of deeds send the original deed to his office in Indian Trail NC he still holds my wife original deed and refuses to give her. The seller took the full asking price for the house, land there was no type of first time home buyer grants nothing was discounted or taken off and then the seller attorney took the original deed and placed the money in a trust account all without my wife, myself and my daughters knowledge, consent, authorization. My wife also found paperwork that the real estate agents forged her signature several times these real estate agents Megan, and another one named Hope that's her first name she pretended to be an attorney on July 19, 2024 in this law office in Charlotte NC location in front of my wife, myself and my two daughters. Megan told my wife Hope is an attorney with this firm the paralegal Samantha who use to email my wife and always attached Megan started attaching the attorney Nikalas to emails my wife found out a few weeks later that Hope is a real estate agent, she helps people relocate and she assist with first time home buyers and getting them qualified. Till this day this firm and their attorneys will not fix the wrong that the attorney, paralegal and real estate agents did. They held the money my wife wired to their account for a cash purchase for the house and land in a trust account weeks later my wife found out the money was placed in a trust account they chose Title Insurance Company all without my wife, myself and my daughters knowledge, consent, authorization. In my opinion please be careful using this law office and their attorneys my wife personal information was shared, my wife signatures forged in numerous documents they mishandled the money she wired for a cash purchase. My wife obtained those documents after July 19, 2024 the day we moved to NC I don't even know if they used mine and my daughter's personal information. read more

Overall a negative experience while closing in my first house. There was basically no communication, they sent the wiring instructions to the wrong email address (I had to ask multiple times for it), and my close was delayed from Wednesday to Friday which then, because they didn't get the paperwork in on time, delayed further to Tuesday. (There was some mix up with the seller paperwork that didn't get settled til Monday). I didn't receive paperwork ahead of time other than from my lender and I just felt rushed. My paralegal was not friendly. The lawyer I worked with on the day of was nice enough though not the most helpful. I wish I went somewhere else. read more

We had to use this firm per our third party contract and we ran into a title issue and they simply told me "they were too busy" to deal with the file. The even encouraged us taking our closing elsewhere as they would not troubleshoot a real issue. This place is a factory when it comes to closings. Bailey ignored all of both agents calls and was not helpful whatsoever. Finally on the 14th day after our anticipated closing date, we got some answers. Don't give them your business! After giving the wrong address on my original documentation for their Charlotte office, I was required to drive an hour to sign the closing documents a day after the agreed upon closing. OK honestly, if I could leave zero stars for this review, I totally would. I am a real estate professional, and have been in this industry for 25 years, the manner of neglect and ignorance that this firm showed has been beyond my comprehension. Closed on a deal and initially asked them to hold the check and I would come back and pick it up, but change my mind and asked them to please mail it out. Mind you you are unable to physically call the location where my check was being held (Belmont location) so you have to rely on all the other paralegals at the other offices to, make sure that this information is sent over to them!! So my check that they claimed was mailed out was sitting there for 3 solid weeks. No apologies, just funky attitudes!! Horrible- to say that I will never ever refer a client to this office again is an understatement. Realtors beware!! read more

Avoid this firm ! This is the most unorganized, unprofessional firm I have ever had a real estate closing with. From A-Z their paperwork was incomplete , inaccurate, and repeated calls had to be made after closing to try to get the funds wired that were due to the seller and the realtor. As a real estate investor, I've had hundreds of closings on properties and this ranks up there with the worst. Stay away! Use anyone else if you're looking to work with a law firm that will call you back. I used them to close on my home, and it was a nightmare. They never called me or my lender back, when we had important questions. It took over 4 hours to finish signing all the documents because they misspelled my name. They also are not covid compliant and do not enforce masks. I've warned all my friends to use another closing law office. They made what should've been a happy day into a headache. read more

I wish I could give this law firm 0 stars... not only is this law firm making deals with investment firms... they are, also, covering for them/getting them out of real estate contracts they signed. When we arrived to close, none of the documents were ready to be signed and they did not have the buyer ready or present. After we were finally able to sign our part, they were happy to rush us out. 2 days later, the investor stated the were backing out of the deal. I called Attorney Brandy and she stated she didn't know what was happening and that she knew the final closing docs were signed and they had the funds so she would need to call me back. Never received a call back so I reached out and never heard from Brandy again and was forced to speak to her assistant. Finally, I heard the investors were backing out... mind you this was 2 days after we signed the final closing docs and from that Brandy's story start to change. Brandy now stated that the final closing documents were then never signed on closing day and Costner didn't ever receive funds. Costner Law didn't even make sure the investment company had sent the earnest money to them when they had months to ensure. I was shocked of Brandy's actions as I didn't think she was this type of attorney after our hour conversation in her office but, apparently, it was an act. We are still waiting for the earnest money over a week later. Super unresponsive, highly unorganized, and completely unprofessional... STAY AWAY! Unless you want to pay unnecessary fees, have documents incorrect, or don't want your closing to go smoothly. The receptionist is rude and will not be helpful. read more

Rock bottom trashing law firm. We checked the box we have a lawyer and stated his name rather than electing Costner to prepare the sellers docs. Moron Cheryl boughman bills is for preparing docs our lawyer prepared. When questioned she denies ever hearing from our attorney but later conceded the firm had an "email issue" that day. She then says go ahead us your lawyer docs but when you come back, despite our/my screw up we are billing you again. Had to redo funds disbursement statement over 10 times with these inept morons because of repeated mistakes. Run from this bunch of inept morons. Just look at all the 1 star reviews. read more

Came in to close today. Was told it would be a 30 min process total. We were told to wait 15-20 mins after we signed all documents. After an hour with no communication we had to hunt down the lawyer to get an answer. 30 mins later we were able to leave. I think it is reasonable to expect someone to tell you if you will be waiting 3-4x the amount they told you. Downloaded this app just to give this place a review. Avoid if possible. read more

Costner law handled the transaction for a sale for me and contrary to the negative reviews (note i am a highly anxious and diligent person) not only did they handle my transaction in a very efficient manner, they were timely and so far very accurate. There are a couple of items still open but i assume and hope that will go smooth as well. Besides from a professional standpoint, My anxiety and tons of questions were handled with patience and understanding. I do not recommend this law firm. My husband and I closed on our house (buy side) with them. They were unprofessional. They did not reached out to us for certain things that they needed from us for closing. And when we reached out to them, the lady we spoke with (Cheryl) was very condescending and spoke down to my husband. That was unacceptable. It was too late for us to choose a different firm or else we would have. They charge more than other firms too. They did not contact us when they recorded either. Again, I had to reached out to them and the lady I spoke with didn't even understand what I was asking!! It's like they don't know how to do their job. Go somewhere else, anywhere! read more

First time home buyer and I went in on closing day not knowing what to expect. Traci Belk was the lawyer who handled everything. She was amazing! Very helpful, went over all of the documents and it didn't take long at all. Going through pages and pages of documents sounds like a nightmare but she made it easy to follow and didn't make it "dry" at all. I don't know if you can ask for a specific attorney on your closing day but I would recommend her to everyone! read more

As someone who did use them for their closing , I would definitely NOT recommend them. In fact, I would RUN as fast as you can to anyone else. Not only did they make a mistake on our closing and give almost 10K to a contractor upfront who never completed the work. When I contacted them a few months after closing to inquire about the money I was told that they were never told that to hold the money (lie) and that if they were supposed to then it was our realtors fault for not letting them know. I believed them and we continued to reach out to the contractor to try and get our work completed or our money back to have someone else complete the work. In passing about another real estate transaction,my husband spoke to our old realtor and he sent us documentation that showed that Costner should have kept the money in an escrow account. Even after sending this information they chose not to help us recoup our funds or do anything because the statue of limitations for their mistake had just expired. This law firm is unprofessional and unethical and I would seriously reconsider ever using them for your real estate transactions. read more

Sold a lake house and closing was scheduled at 10:00am only about 20 minutes late, no big deal. After signing all the docs and paying the $50 fee to have my money wired the same day, I waited all afternoon for the funds to hit. It was a fairly large sum and I had written a check for $192K against the wired funds. At 4:40 Cheryl sends me an email saying she can't make the deposit because she didn't have a TIN (Tax identification number). I sent a return email at 4:53 with my TIN and received no response or funds. I responded in 13 minutes with the info.The next morning my realtor contacted her to express my dissatisfaction and her response was we received his TIN last night and the funds will transfer this morning. Last night? At 4:53. Thirteen minutes later! I would say save your $50 bucks and wait on the check. Sit in the lobby and wait so they don't have your funds any longer than necessary. Apparently they are piling up one star ratings and Cheryl appears a candidate for employee of the year. She get's my vote. read more
