I am so happy to have found this magical place. My son is generally hesitant and cautious around new people and new places that it takes him awhile to warm up. We started last fall in the Parent and Me class and the growth I have seen from day 1 to now is just incredible. He's able to have conversations with other adults, wave and give high fives, and love being around the other kids. We bumped up to 2 days a week last January, and I feel very strongly that the older kiddos really helped my son find his voice. It's nice that we weren't locked in for the year going 1 day a week. We are able to discuss with the director how we as parents feel things are going and can change our program when we all agree it's time. The director is absolutely top notch. She's intentional with every activity she sets out for the kids, and lets the kids take the lead (within reason). She's in tune with the needs of every child, flexible, caring, and has helped me as a first-time mom relax and trust my son's timeline. It also helps that my son is also really drawn to her, and talks about her all the time! A co-op is a co-operation program where both parents and teachers are helping to guide children throughout their early developmental years. As parents, we contribute to the learning environment by fostering communication skills, gross and fine motor skills, develop social-emotional understanding and respect, and learning independence. I love how I get to stay and be there with my son. I am able to see how he grows, and I can take on duties to ensure a healthy and clean environment. I'm so excited to see how "Caterpillars" go this year because this will be the first time my son will be at school 3 days a week for 3 hours and only 1 of those days I will be with him. read more

SMARTEST decision we have ever made. Mrs Lyndsey O'Neil is wonderful to work with and is an excellent teacher. Fair, honest, fun, creative and goes above and beyond for kids and family. I have leveled up my parenting skills exponentially by observing her kind leadership on workdays and at parent meetings. The price is the lowest and the QUALITY HIGHEST. Daily painting, coloring, crafts, reading, music, dance you name it! Safe play environment but I am so confident that my kids are building their emotional safety as well! My son attended the 24-25 school year and we had an amazing experience! The director and teacher are wonderful, warm, and experienced. With work day parents, the ratio of adults to kids (~1 to 5) is unbeatable. There are so many fun activities for the kids to do- bikes, play structure, sensory activities, art, water play etc. My son came in pretty shy and ended the year confident and with so many friends. Since it is a co-op there are many opportunities to get involved and connect with the community. We made friends I know will be lifelong friends. read more

This preschool used to be magical, until the previous director left in December, 2024. In my opinion, the level of learning and caring has definitely deteriorated since that time. Our child has moved on to kindergarten, but sadly her final year at CRPCNS turned sour at the end of the last school year there. read more

What a wonderful gem we have found! The Cotati RP co-op nursery school has been such a wonderful learning environment for my son. He started when he was 3 and it was sort of a long road for him to come out of his shell. But Ms. Kim is so amazing and patient with him that he has really blossomed and become confident in his skills. What I love most about the co-op is a true feel of community. Parents work in the classroom weekly or biweekly alongside the teacher and learn early childhood development methods for listening, tantrums, and so forth. It's really been a rewarding experience for both myself and my son. Some of my favorite events are the back to school picnic, the field trip to Spring Lake and the community members that visit our school. Such as the Cotati police dept, the Rancho Fire Dept and the dentist. I also love how much pride and work our families put forth into the school to keep it clean and safe. I unequivocally recommend this quaint and beautiful preschool! After an absolutely terrible experience at Learning to Lean in RP we were very impressed by CRPCNS. This is the preschool dreams are made of. We could immediately tell that there is very caring parent and teacher involvement. These teachers aren't checked out and burnt out from too many kids and not enough help like most other preschools. They are kind, passionate, patient and loving. The school is incredibly clean, organized and welcoming. We were a little daunted at first before we were fully informed of how the co-op worked but it's really not a big deal. If you are unable to go one day a week there are options for you. Yes you have to participate in cleaning days but this is precisely why the school is perfection! I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this school! I've had both my boys attend here and we absolutely love it! Miss Sherry is nothing short of an angel wearing jeans! She is so understanding of what a child needs and how to deal with the big emotions they're going through at these young ages. We were so lucky to transition to Cotati Co-op for our daughter when the co-op preschool she was attending in Petaluma closed last year. We are sold on the co-op model. While it means one work day per week, all those parent hours are reflected both in the upkeep of the school and the quality of the instruction during the school day. Our daughter is in the 4's class (there are three classes 2's, 3's and 4's with varying half day schedules) and there are 3-4 parent volunteers in her class daily (M-Th). Ms. Sherry the head teacher/director is outstanding. Her creativity in activities, stories, and art projects creates an enriching environment for the kids. They also practice a positive discipline model, which creates a more nurturing school environment. We found in both our co-ops that the teacher makes all the difference- having an instructor that is akin to an elementary school teacher, rather than a day-care staffer. All the volunteer hours keep the monthly tuition cost low as well, while attracting engaged families. read more

This place is great! It is a co-op which means parents help out in the classroom and also help maintain the facility. Some people might think cleaning up the school at the end of the day or spending a few hours during a month doing yardwork too much, but it helps keeps costs down and the time in the classroom is great to learn how to be a better parent and have the support of the co-op families. I checked out about 3 other co-op's and 2 pre-schools and chose this one because it seemed like the most comfortable and safe environment for my daughter and I feel very lucky to have chosen so well. read more

The Cotati-Rohnert Park Co-Op Nursery School is a wonderful preschool for children ages 2-5. I have 3 children who have all attended the co-op for 2 years each. When my oldest child (now 10) started at the co-op 8 years ago we immediately knew it was the right fit. We were living in Petaluma at the time but after searching all the preschools in the community we knew it was worth the drive to Cotati. Sherry (the teacher/director) immediately made us feel welcome. Sherry provides a caring and dynamic learning environment for the kids. The wonderful parent community and Sherry are really what make this preschool so special. The social, emotional and intellectual growth that the kids develop by the end of the program is amazing. In searching for a preschool for our son, we wanted to find a place where he could grow and be engaged through play. Further, we wanted to be able to be involved and meet other families. We are going on our third year at the Co-op. My 4 year old twins LOVE Ms. Sherry! At first it was a BIG step when deciding upon a school bc there are so many. As a parent of children that attended this preschool for 4 years and a member of the board for 3 years - I felt it was necessary to provide this review. My oldest son attended the preschool for three years - at that time this preschool had a waiting list. The teacher/director was engaging, innovative and had a real connection with the children at that time. After enrolling my second child in the preschool this past fall , and observing the teacher/director I noticed immediately she had changed. She seems tired, burnt out and short with the children. We had conversations where she acknowledged this and said she was working on it. This year alone, there has been a very heavy turnover and the waitlist has disappeared. Children are placed in the "quiet corner" if they don't meet her expectations and she continues on with her classroom. At this age - self esteem is so important and for children to feel excluded isn't right. My child asked us consistently why his teacher was mad at him? I immediately removed my child from this preschool. My child as well as others would be better served in an environment that is accepting of all different types of personalities; and they don't feel punished for having bigger personalities than others. There are so many amazing preschools out there with such well educated directors as well as teachers. There is a place for every child - this just wasn't a place for ours. read more

This is my daughter's 3rd year at the co-op and I'm so thrilled that we have had such a wonderful experience. The place provides such a phenominal family atmosphere and at a very low cost compared to other pre-schools in the area. I have friends who wish they could send their little ones to this school, but because they work full-time, it's not possible. Being as it's a co-op, the families must be involved - it's not a "drop-off and pick-up" kind of place. I really like, also, that this school provides a program for 2 year olds and encourages pre-school even at that age! This is a wonderful preschool. My 3 year old loves Ms. Sherry, and so do we! You can tell she really cares about each and every one of the kids. Initially, I was nervous about two things: the time commitment, and the possible dynamics of different parenting styles and personalities. It turns out that the time commitment isn't much, especially when I weigh it against what my child receives. It also feels really gratifying to be involved in my child's education, and comforting to know what goes on when she's away from me. As far as the parenting styles & personalities go, they do a really good job of streamlining everything, so that everyone's involvement and interactions are positive, respectful and consistent. A lot of thought and care has gone into the toys, activities, playground and indoor space. The overall feeling of this preschool is freedom and fun within an overall structure. I love this place. My son started here this last school year and it's a family oriented but structured environment. The teachers are great. We'll be going back again for summer and next year too! It is a co-op so there is involvement in the school more than a non-co-op but that's what a co-op is! I love the community it's bringing to myself and my son. I am a former high school teacher, two of my children have gone thru the co-op and my third is about to start in the Fall if that speaks to anyone! I understand the pitfalls and pressures of the school system and found the co-op to be a great environment for my kids to develop. The kids have all loved going because they have felt a sense of belonging and the people there genuinely care. As parents we aren't with our little ones for long before they become so independent they think they don't need us. Being a part of the co-op has taught me how to be a better parent. I've learned so much from the other parents sharing stories and strategies, not to mention the friendships:) The first two reviews were right, it's not a drop off situation, not daycare, and it's not babysitting. As for the "cleaning", well, at the beginning of the school year each family chooses a job they will do each month to keep the overall cost of school down.
