My favourite campsite in the whole wide world…read more I really shouldn't be writing this review as I want to keep it a secret.... but Bycross Farm Campsite has been in the Telegraphs top ten UK campsites, so I think the cat is out of the bag now. Oh well. We've camped here four times now and its always been a lovely experience and on our most recent trip we were the only people here, which was nice. We initially found this campsite when we did our first canoe trip down the River Wye, it was on the Wye Valley Canoe Centres list of places to camp on the river route. That is you could land your canoe at these locations and camp up. The overall highlight of this place is its an apple orchard. A magical setting to be honest as the place is surrounded with fabulous bird life. Be warned the dawn chorus in the summer time is mega here, so if you don't want to be woken, bring good ear plugs. Otherwise, lie back and test out your knowledge of birdsong. Another highlight is this camp is it allows camp fires, unlike most other campsites I've stayed at in the UK. The owner treats campers like the adults they are and as a result the positive camping experience is increased ten fold. Before now there was one shower and two toilets, which was just about enough. But one our recent stay I found out that a whole shower & toilet block has been built out the back. And an excellent one it is too. There are also more wash up sinks, I think three more to the existing one that was already there at the existing toilet block. It's a little rough and ready, but that is what makes Bycross in my opinion the nicest place in the world when it comes to camping. No manicured lawns. There are very little notices up telling you what you are not allow to do. In June 2013 it cost 5 GBP per person per night. The hot power showers will cost you 1 GBP per five mins. For me this is excellent value for a fantastic camping experience.

The showers/toilet and washing up area were spotlessly clean, and the welcome from Eddie was very friendly. We only stayed one night, as a learning experience with our new tent, but hope to come back for longer.

Shustoke's Village Shop is but a stones throw away and Country Pubs, Restaurants, are found within Shustokes locality. The Shustoke Reservoir/Sailing Club, Maxstoke Golf Course and some great walks are all within a mile of the park. You can be at the NEC in 15 minutes or in Birmingham City Centre within 30 minutes. Coleshill is but a brisk Walk away where you can find a wide selection of Pubs and Restaurants. If you are planning to explore what Warwickshire has to offer, then stay with us!

Birmingham one side and nice rolling green countryside everywhere else it's a great spot to pitch on for a family break. Site is definitely biased towards caravans with a number of new hardstanding pitches. Tent spots are limited to one field which has a bit of a slope to it, or a lower area with a series of dips (an old strip farming site). We pitched on the later, screened at the back with a hedge, easy access to the amenities. Having booked well in advance, the staff worked hard to keep four pitches together for our group despite a packed out for the bank holiday

(even now not got one). They jump started it and blew the ECU, denied fault costing me £600 at Peugeot dealership. Didn't fix rear camera and on request for refund he had a new one fitted but then tried to bill me £500! Manager John very devious hence he wont let any sales staff sign off deals he does them all himself leaving customers waiting hours, days and weeks in my case to seal the deal and collect. AVOID!!!

There are many footpaths that take you to the hills (Clent and Walton Hill) and from both points it's possible to see The Cotswolds, Malvern Hills, The Wrekin, the city of Dudley and many other beautiful points of UK. If you are keen on big walks and want to have the privilege of experience stunning views, Clent Hills is a perfect day out. The standing stones are the highlights from this National Trust protects hills. I have been to Clent Hills in a very lovely day and I can tell even it's still considered a long walk, it's possible to enjoy the journey without getting too tired. There are also plenty of benches spread in the area and they are always pretty inviting if a rest is needed in the middle of the way.

Regardless of what time of year it is, Clent has something to offer, becoming an extremely popular destination over the years. If you're not a dog person, I would suggest a mid-week visit, with the weekend being dominated by mans best friend. In the winter especially the hills of Clent offer a great sledging point, attracting a million dog walkers and a million kids who head there to make the most of the rare snow days. Overall, whether it be snow or shine, perhaps not rain, Clent is a great place to visit, one that I definitely recommend.

Bosworth Water Trust is a leisure park set over 50 acres, 20 acres of which is water - used for all…read moretypes of water sports. There you can go sailing, windsurfing and kayaking or have a days relaxing fishing. Day and season tickets are available for the lakes - there are two, a large and small. The small lake has less 'traffic' on it and is a quieter days fishing. There are hiring facilities for the water sports and you can pay for lessons. We've been a few time to use the caravan and camping site located on the side of the waters edge. The pitches aren't massive but it's not bad for a weekend.There are good washing and shower facilities for all who are camping. They have a small shop but it's not got loads in for the camper, I'd recommend bringing what you need. There is also a bar but I thought it was a bit expensive. For an afternoon it's a nice day out - there is a fairly good play area, space to kick a ball, a walk round the lake etc. I think it's only about £2 to get in. Outside the park, there is the town of Market Bosworth, Shackerstone Railway, Twycross Zoo and Bosworth Battlefield. Every year they host events such as the raft race or Hinckley half mararthon.

As soon as you come in, theres a huge park for kids which is actually great fun for the big kids too ;) take my advice for it! And as you go deeper into the park, you realise what an incredible sigh of relief this park is as it gives you a break from the busy, industrial city ; instead offering you serenity and beauty. You wouldn't even think it's in Birmingham! Rolling hills, towering trees and a blanket of green surrounding you; each area is beautiful. Even if you do get drenched by the rain like I did, it's definitely worth it! A must for those seeking an escape!

If you are looking for a place for a hike, romantic walk, dog walking spot or just generally a spot to get out of the city without going too far then check this place ut. I have been coming here since I was a kid and think ill be coming back for some years! Lovely.
