One star is more than REIS deserves at this point. We recently had a condo real estate transaction and REIS is the management company that was hired by the condo board. Charles Freitag, the owner of this company, was extremely irresponsible and negligent responding to our attorney's requests. Apparently, he is the only individual at REIS that was able to complete required documentation for the closing. We were informed he was out of town for almost two weeks, pushing back the closing date multiple times. As a former business owner myself, I always had to have a back up if I was out of town. This ensures customer satisfaction which in turn builds trust with your business. Our attorney began contacting REIS the day after the contract was signed. There was no response. Both the buyer and seller's attorneys as well as the lender for the buyer, and the real estate agents worked diligently to complete the transaction. Nothing could be completed until Charles completed the necessary documentation appropriately. One simple document was not completed correctly. We even contacted the condo board to see if there was something the President of the Board could to to expedite the closure, without success. The sale of this unit had multiple delays due solely to Charles' negligence. In addition to the frustration felt by the seller and buyer, who was ready to walk away from the sale, the multiple delays and inability to have another employee complete simple paperwork, cost both the buyer and seller thousands of dollars, in additional fees. We spent at least $3000 more to close on this unit strictly due to his negligence. The required document requested from the lender was a standard inquiry required by lenders. We attempted every avenue to get this property closed in a timely manner, without success. It is a shame that the owner of a management company is unable to delegate someone in the office to assist with responsibilities when he is out of town. I know that this is a multigenerational company, and it is disheartening that Charles is unable to conduct business honoring his families name. read more

The REISS claims: They assume responsibility for collecting dues from condo residents, for creating budget, and managing your billing and accounting?! Condo residents have no rights besides paying dues and fines. Board doesn't take in consideration any of our requests. They do collect money way too aggressive, and do not allow residents to vote on major improvements, or special accesments. Not people friendly! read more

REIS is the worst Property Management Company to dealt with. The Property Manager, Candee Siaw, of this company assigned to our community at Park Bloomingdale Condos Association is not doing her job at all. Service request that needed immediate attention and repair related to Health, Life, Safety and liability issues like MOLDS, FIRE DOOR not closing properly, Snow plowing that can cause homeowners to slip and fall etc. is very irresponsible. read more

(I have to voice text that's because I'm disabled. Sorry for the errors in advance ) This place is absolute disgrace. They manage my condo Association, they've done nothing to help me with several VALID complaints. Cost me thousands of dollars in damages , $1000 in Deductible's that later proved to be their fault when they happened again. They had someone illegally open my garage and take out evidence of damaged drywall after I had sent an email specifically saying " this is written notice to not enter my garage "... they denied the problem with theirs as my insurance company instructed me to do. The email was sent approximately 10 days earlier, replied to. Yet the day before my insurance got there, mysteriously that big black missing part was already cut out. Only because those saved emails and screenshots i was at least able to get them to repair the drywall that they took out after explicitly telling them that they do not have permission to enter. You'll see photos. My insurance company repaired from the inside up and had a water mitigation company come out and professionally dry the rotten wood before they could seal it replacing what couldn't be saved. They claimed it was not the buildings fault, it was the deck of a neighbor. Well, that deck was removed, at my neighbors cost, repaired also paid by him, using the HOA roofing company... It came back. My insurance is going after them. That neighbor is the only other neighbor who got the brunt of them and realized the scams that were going on. He ended up selling his unit after falling out of contract over four times specifically because of the HOA. He lowered the price of his unit so low and had his lawyer warned them. They were only getting the price because how difficult the H away is to work with. There are six units in our building, my assessments are almost $400. They favor board members and care about no one else. The retail space underneath me is a nightmare, I am treated unfairly. It is the person below also has the leak into my storage unit. The HOA had a recording as did. I constant sounds with it jarring noise. They woke my tenants up. They dragged me on for months, thinking they were going to help me, then change the rules of the HOA and had their lawyer. Tell me there's nothing they would do. They hold me to standards. They did not hold other unit owners. I had to get recordings from inside their bedroom, have inspectors come out, which identified it coming from there, they made him do none of that. All it did was push time off, making me think they were going to help me...The other unit owner did not have to do the same things. My tip: GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING!! CC EVERYONE. Make sure to CC yourself and save all those messages because they will sneakily remove text out of emails when they reply, send them back with jumbled worlds and symbols, and remove photos. LEAN ON YOUR CITY FOR CODES AND QUESTIONS!! AND GOOGLE. They are more helpful and you will get further than you ever will having this company. There are free advice from people who govern HOA agencies, and advice on how to deal with situations. Use your search engine! Take nothing they say for granted I wish I learned that earlier. You have to read your own HOA documents with a fine tooth comb. KNOW TOUR RIGHTS, property managers are supposed to ALL, and it's their job to be able to tell you where things, that things exist to assist you with things... not tell you to read them yourself, not tell you about them, or go dig into places to find things. ... you know what they say... You get what you pay for. A website that looks like it was made in the 90s and offers you a free month for $500? I'm surprised they don't ask you to check in for a yelp review and get a Starbucks card. That's pretty much the level there at. I wish the link to their Facebook page was still up, the reviews for laughable. The reviews got so bad they took it down because once you have a setting on Facebook to allow reviews, you can reverse it. That page was destroyed. This place is an absolute disgrace. The people writing these reviews are obviously either board members who they favor, or friends. Do yourself a favor and do a Google search, the people who work for it before you get trapped in contract by an HOA board that only looks out for themselves. I cannot stress enough, use Google, learn your rights, utilize free, resources, and trolls available to you. And even print out all the documents, highlight them, read them know your rights, these people surely are not going to be on your side if you have issues within your building. Charles is the most incompetent property manager I ever had the displeasure of dealing with. He is unresponsive and unreliable. If you want a property manager who does next to nothing, hire REIS. It's too bad that you have to give a company one star. That's about two stars more than he deserves! read more

You will quickly find that the property managers here are miserable and actively seek to spread their misery onto tenants. Each tenant has complained about improper fines and utter disrespect from association. They will ignore requests for assistance and are entitled enough to hang up the phone mid conversation and make you wait days for a response. We have witnessed improper towings, fines, and overall neglect to the common areas the association is responsible for. Our neighbor neglected their bathroom and we had their sewage flooding our apartment two separate times, with the most recent event costing over $15k in damages. When we called REIS for an emergency plumber, HE NEVER SHOWED UP. We had feces all over our unit and Candee could not be bothered to answer phone calls, and if she did provide response via email, it was several days later and callous responses. Ask around and you will realize no one has one good thing to say about this monstrous company. Many tenants move to avoid the association or simply because their units were targeted or management refused to fulfill their obligations as noted in the bylaws. Truly miserable company read more

I cannot recommend this company enough. Prior management companies really did a horrible job managing the property. We got so lucky with our property manager Candee. She took the time to really get us back to a good place. She is super responsive and incredibly knowledgeable which was so beneficial to the newly formed board. She is very thorough and clear in her communications which is appreciated and I can tell she has years of industry knowledge that she brings to the table. Even with a property our size, she is able to manage it all so well. She is truly a trusted advisor to our community. read more

I'm the president of our condo association. We've had REIS as for professional management for about 6 years. (I've been on the Board for about 4 of those years). We have an owner-occupied building. This company has dealt with many small to large issues with our building and our owners. They have handled emergencies, disputes, and even small issues on a timely basis. They've provided much-needed input regarding hiring maintenance, cleaning, plumbing and other contractors. They have interfaced with the city, contractors, and other parties on behalf of us, with favorable outcomes. This company always has our best interest in mind, and proactively searches for ways to save money and make our homes better. From citing Roberts Rules of Order (when requested) to citing ordinances and condo law (when necessary), we really couldn't ask for more. The manager (in our case, Charles, Jr.) actually comes out and does a lot of the physical, mundane jobs himself rather than call out a contractor which we'd have to pay extra for.--He doesn't point this out to the populace. In fact, I have to bring it up so that the owners are aware of all the little things he does to make life better here. The management should have, and was not, given a raise for a number of years. They still delivered responsible and intelligent management; proving it is not always about the money, but about doing a professional job. I would like to highly recommend this company. They manager my home owners association in the Chicago suburbs. The manager Charles was able to locate savings in the first few months by negotiating our insurance and trash contracts. He was also in charge of supervising our masonry facade work and roof replacement. read more

We brought them in four years ago to manager our condo building in oak park. They were able to resolve a number of contract disputes we were having with our vendors quickly and they were able to help us plan for a roof replacement which we just finished this spring with no issues. With their help we are now on the path to saving for a parking lot replacement. read more

I am a bit frustrated with this company. They cashed my check of $1575 for earnest money on January 13th. We were denied for the home shortly after. Prior to this, I signed a document stating that they would return my money within 7 days. I received a letter in the mail dated January 20th, stating I would receive my money back within 10 days! It is now February 2nd and I still haven't received my money back. I have been working with Nancy Freitag, who we continually have to reach out to, because of her poor communication skills. This is probably BY FAR the best real estate service I have ever used. They were better than the other companies and really helped us. Me and my family we're moving to Illinois and we were searching and found this company. We were searching for a house, and they were treated right people for us! So once they found us a beautiful house, it unfortunately had a roof leek. But, they fixed it for me! The team was very nice and effective. I thanked them because they really are truly the best. This management company was hired by my condo association. They are absolutely horrible!!! They are never onsite to see what is going on. My property Manager is an absentee property manager. Their communication to the condo owners is terrible!!! They do not have a newsletter to inform you about anything. They do not care about you as a homeowner. You have contact them repeatedly to get things fixed. They never answer all my questions. Since they are always off site I have to call them when the lights are not working in my complex, garbage dumpsters are overflowing with garbage, potholes needing to be fixed, etc. So basically I have to do their work for them. This management company is a joke!!! It takes them weeks, months, or even years to get things fixed. I realize that many things have to be approved by the condo board, but this is the most unprofessional management company. Save yourself a lot of problems. Do not use them. read more
