If I had seen an honest review like this before signing a lease here, we never would have moved into this building. The five-star reviews give a very misleading impression of what living here is actually like. The biggest issue we experienced was the complete lack of accountability from management when problems arose. Instead of addressing issues directly, the response was consistently to shift blame onto residents rather than take responsibility. You can even see this pattern in how management responds to reviews on Google. Several one-star reviews are met with responses claiming they "cannot verify the reviewer as a resident," which conveniently allows them to dismiss the concern entirely. Shortly after moving in, we submitted a maintenance request because our unit was overheating and we needed to run the AC. A technician came to the apartment, was inside for less than two minutes, did not inspect the unit at all, and told us there was nothing that could be done because of outdoor temperatures. The ticket was then marked "resolved." For the next five months our apartment remained extremely hot. We had to sleep with the windows open just to cool the unit down and regularly woke up sweating. We later learned from neighbors that they run their AC year-round without issue. In other words, the information we were given was incorrect and the system had never actually been inspected. The problem was only fixed months later when a different technician properly evaluated and repaired it. When I tried to address this with management, they claimed the issue continued because we did not submit another maintenance request. That explanation makes no sense. We were told directly by maintenance that nothing could be done, so there would have been no reason to keep submitting work orders for the same issue. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, the responsibility was shifted onto us. There were also situations where basic consideration for residents seemed to be an afterthought. Shortly after we moved in, the flooring in the unit above us was replaced. The construction noise was extremely loud (loud enough that I couldn't work from home and it terrified our dog) yet no notice was given so residents could plan accordingly. During this same time we were dealing with a traumatic pregnancy loss that required surgery and thousands of dollars in medical expenses. We provided documentation and asked if there was any flexibility with the lease so we could spend time with family while recovering. The response from management was extremely cold and dismissive with absolutely no empathy. The lease terms are also misleading. The lease references a 60-day notice and two months of rent, which most people would reasonably interpret as about two months to exit. In reality it amounts to four months of rent to break the lease. Had we have known this, we never would have signed. The building also has only two elevators and no freight elevator, which makes moving extremely difficult. Soundproofing is another issue. You can clearly hear normal conversations inside apartments when standing in the hallway, and from inside our unit we could regularly hear everything happening in the hallway. The fire alarms also go off far more frequently than in any other building we've lived in (twice within three days once), and after these incidents, there was no communication sent to residents. For the price this building charges, the experience simply does not match what is advertised. If you are looking for true luxury apartments in the area, I would strongly encourage you to also look at buildings like The Fynn, The Vyne, or The Marke, which offer much newer spaces and amenities for similar pricing. Unfortunately many of these issues only became clear after we had already signed the lease and were locked into the terms. If you are considering signing a lease here, I strongly recommend reading the one-star reviews carefully. After living here, we unfortunately found them to reflect our experience far more accurately than the five-star ones. read more

This is a fantastic place to live. The location is ideal for getting to the airport and enjoying the downtown benefits of Elmhurst. The pool area is the best of the best; giving just enough privacy from the streets but not blocking the sunshine. There is a conference room, community room and a theatre room. The folks who work here do their best to make it like home for the tenants. I highly recommend! read more

We are currently in a 2 bedroom apartment here for over $3000 a month. The place was filthy upon moving in. We steam cleaned the carpets twice and the water was black, additionally there was black mold filling the washing machine and in the bathrooms. The hallways have cracked paint and filthy carpets (They stated when we signed that this was all going to be replaced in January- it is now mid Feb and this work has not started or been mentioned) There is also a 50-50 shot that the hallways and subsequently the apartment will reek of weed, which especially with young children is unacceptable. Unless you want to live in an overpriced frat house, do not rent here. read more

Expensive!!! Even compared to the new properties downtown Elmhurst/ Sq foot. This is not a new community ( managers note). It was new in 2017. I rented for 2 years. Ohare flight pattern right over head!! Oops, my fault. 2 elevators, 1 each side of building instead of 2 together centrally located. This can be really expensive if you're using a moving company and not close to the move in elevator. On move day, staff assured elevator would be ready for us. It wasn't, spent 30 min trying to find office staff to lock elevators. Frustrating and costly. Elevators always breaking down, then you have to add 10 min on to your morning to get to work and walk to the elevator on other side of building. Asked for compensation when elevator was out for a month, and was denied due to one functioning elevator, no matter the inconvenience. I didn't rent here to get my daily steps in before work!! Some elderly folks really struggled getting to working elevator. That said, pool is beautiful in the summer! Exercise room is great! Movie room and club room-- nice for groups (extra charge) but no information on how to sync your music with speakers/ operate theatre. Secure if you pay extra for garage spot; otherwise your entrance may be through the dark public garage or all the way around to the front of the building. The devil is in the details, and this is where Elmhurst 255 misses. read more

Highly DO NOT recommend. They do not care about you - at all! Please be aware, most of these good reviews are from when a prior leasing agent used to work at Elmhurst 255 (Giana - I bet you see her name in most of the good reviews too). Recently (~Fall 2021), Elmhurst 255 hired new staff who are extremely unfriendly and very disrespectful - they have no sense of personal/customer service. With this new staff, the support you receive is on par with the customer service of a Wendy's. You'll quickly feel like you are renter #128212 out of thousands in a multi-national renting agency - I'm telling you...the service is horrendous. This is quite literally evidenced by their recent "Our company policy..." bs replies. Just take a look. Please please please save yourself the headache and raised blood pressure incidents and DO NOT rent here. There are numerous other luxury apartment choices in Elmhurst - at least these might give you service corresponding to the thousands of dollars you spend. I lived here for 13 months and was the first tenant in the unit. For the rent, the units are quite small. Although I never experienced any noise wall to wall, the doorways offer NO noise protection. If you are in the halls you can hear EVERYTHING going on in the units, and vice versa. The A/C unit was extremely loud as well as the refrigerator. My kitchen sink fell though the counter spilling water throughout the main room. I called the emergency # and nobody came for an hour. The amenities are very nice and 24/7 which was nice. At the end of the day, its a nice building, the staff is nice, but they nickel and dime EVERYTHING. For the money I spent living there, I certainly didn't walk away wanting to recommend it. read more

Do not move here. The two girls who run the building, Giana and Rebekkah, are rude, uncaring, and pick and choose when to enforce rules. Giana lied to me about the billing breakdown when trying to convince me to move in. Then when I discovered it after moving in Rebekkah stated not only did it not matter I was lied to but she also stated that she knew Giana was not good with the lease... When I complained about being harassed with notes on my door they refused to do anything until it started happening to my neighbor as well. This place is outrageously priced and they will clearly lie to you to get you to move in and then not care about the fallout afterward. They'll then tell you it's an outrageous $8000 to break your lease which I guess is so high so they won't have people moving out left and right when they find out they hate it here. They'll also start blocking you on social media for giving them bad reviews to try and keep you quiet. Better to try the Marke down the street. read more

we love it at 255 building!!! nice people on our floor real quite compared to all the other Apartments in elmhurst we've been here 7 months so far so good parking is great heated work out facilities are top notch! pool is beautiful,and were getting a new refresh in our hallways paint and carpet so all good prices are better then most!!! lots of places are starting in the $3000 range for a studio or 1 bedroom were in the $2000 ok that's it for me . read more

One of the first residents. My wife and I have been here since November of 2016. Its like living at a resort. Our balcony overlooks the bocce ball court and the heated pool. We are empty nesters due to 3 kids in college. Living here allows to rediscover ourselves by frequenting the over a dozen restaurants and bars within walking distance. $5 dollar movie night, live music and entertainment during the summer on our lawn and the monthly events sponsored by the apartment management keep us very busy. The heated garage for our two vehicles and the fact our dog MaiTai is allowed top off the many amenities offered. Here is a list of the other Amenities: -Heated, indoor parking -Fitness center with spin bikes -Expansive courtyard with grills, bocce ball court and heated pool -Theater -Community room -Private dining room/conference room -Business café -Common area Wifi -24/7 coffee service -On-site management and maintenance -Guest Suite -Package receiving -Dry cleaning drop-off/pick-up -Restaurant delivery I highly recommend coming over to take a tour. My wife and I moved into a 1-bedroom apartment in Elmhurst 255 this July and been loving it so far. Leaving a review in hopes that this will help others with their apartment search. Location, location, location Elmhurst 255 is located on north end of Elmhurst downtown on the corner of North/York. A 24-hr CVS Pharmacy is located steps away from the building. Restaurants like Panera, Curritos, Rainbow Cafe, Angelo's, Rosali's Deli are also steps away. Also, you have the luxury of all the restaurants, bars, and shops in Elmhurst downtown being 2- 10 min walk. Both Jewel, Mariano's, and Fruitful Yield grocery stores are also walking distance. Expressways (I-290, I-88, and I-294) are easily accessible making it super easy to get anywhere in the Chicagoland area: O'Hare Airport - 15 min, City - 30 min, Naperville - 25 min, Schaumburg - 20 min, etc. The Metra station is couple blocks from Elmhurst 255 and takes about 30 min to get to the City. If you like running outside/biking, then Prairie path is 0.7 miles away. In summary, Elmhurst 255 is probably the most ideal location in terms of a Chicago suburb. Apartment Elmhurst 255 has various layouts of apartments in 1-BR, 2-BR, and 3-BR configurations, allowing to get something that fits your needs. All apartments have modern luxuries including balcony, central HVAC system, granite countertop, stainless steel appliance, oversized cabinets, in apartment laundry, walk-in closet, trash/recycle chutes on each floor, etc. In my opinion, the apartments are very well designed with a good balance of open floor design with plenty of storage. Amenities For us, all the included amenities in the apartment is what sold us on Elmhurst 255. It would take me too long to list all the amenities, but some of our favorites: 24-hr large fitness center, theatre room, community room (with pool table), dining room, heated pool/open terrace, heated garage (starting to appreciate it more with winter around the corner), storage lockers, bike storage, mail room, etc. Service Elmhurst 255 has top-notch service. They usually return our emails/calls within 24 hrs. They have onside service people, so they take care of issues pretty quickly. They hire a cleaning crew to ensure all the areas are well kept. The team holds community events 2-4 times a month so you can get to know other people that live in the building. In summary, Elmhurst 255 is an excellent option for people looking for a rental with lots of amenities in Chicago suburb. Couple things that we do not like: - Pricing: Elmhurst 255 is probably the most expensive rental property in the area. It is hard to compare it with other properties as Elmhurst 255 is probably the only building with all the amenities. - Elevators: The building only has two sets of elevators. During busy times (morning, evenings) expect to wait long time for the elevators. read more

The staff is fantastic. Both the office staff and maintenance. Just can't say enough about any of them. The building is great and the amenities like the gym, Media room, pool and community room are phenomenal. Always something going on for the residents. But you know nothing is perfect. My complaint would be that the appliances; washer, dishwasher and furnace/AC are loud. The refrigerator is the noisiest. For the price of rent you'd expect they should be top of the line quiet. My guess is the lower end breaks down pretty quickly so maybe they'll replace with something more inline with the building. read more

My fiancé and I have lived in this complex for roughly 5 months and we absolutely love it. The staff is always friendly, the premises is usually clean and well kept, it has great amenities, and it is a very convenient walk to DT and the train. My only bugaboo is the high price point (but I guess that's to be expected with the luxuries) otherwise this place would be 5 stars for sure. read more

I don't live here, but just wanted to note that we looked into these apartments and unfortunately they were way out of our price range for a 1 bedroom (started at ~$1600 for 600+ sq feet...). The other downside to this beautiful community is that they don't allow german shepherds. No exceptions. The location looks great though. Excited to see what they do with the space and how it transforms Elmhurst. Hopefully in the future prices drop a bit and they revisit their pet policy or can make exceptions for family dogs. read more

A year and a half ago, we moved to Naperville, IL from Omaha, NE. We were miserable in Naperville and decided to search out an apartment to begin transitioning to retirement. We love Elmhurst255! We love that this apartment complex is filled with young people, people with kids and retired people - it is truly a community. All three ladies in the office are exceptional and kind. From day one, they have always greeted us by name and know what unit we rent. If you want a place close to Chicago, within walking distance to the Metra, want to feel like you live in a community, Elmhurst255 is your place. read more

I feel incredibly safe in the building, and the amenities make me feel like I'm living on a resort. The pool and community areas are always clean and welcoming, so I have taken opportunities to have friends and family over to enjoy them as well. The staff is extremely friendly, and they have put together several events for residents, many of which I've attended. Most importantly, I enjoy the size of my apartment unit, and the layout. I was able to fit all of my furniture in, with enough room to spare. I would recommend Elmhurst 255 without a doubt, for families, couples, and those living on their own. read more

I am renting an apartment for the first time in 30 years. Wow am I impressed with Elmhurst 255. Very quiet, very convenient, common areas are clean and well maintained. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They have sponsored many wonderful events for tenants; cooking demonstrations, Pinot & Palette, football viewing parties, etc. etc The free coffee bar, fabulous gym, use of computers and printer, media room, community room with pool table, shuffle board, fireplace, outdoor firepits, pool, bocce court. Great secure building and controlled parking. Free storage locker. Short work to train and restaurants, CVS, etc all within a one minute walk. Service requests are quickly handled. We have a 2 bedroom/two bath and the guest bedroom is so large that we have two double beds as well as a night stand between the beds. I feel it is well worth the price! read more
