The campsites were so close to each other, I had to listen to the guy four feet from my tent snore all night. The first night, they did not manage quiet time at all, people were still yelling at 12:30 am. The next night, one of the camps had at least 25 people at their site and were playing their music so loud it was deafening throughout the entire campground. We were 100 yards away from them and had to raise our voices to be heard amongst ourselves. The showers and bathrooms were disgusting. (At least the water was hot in the showers) The lake itself is very beautiful but I would highly recommend you find another place on the lake to enjoy the lake.

The pond itself is tiny; you can almost land your lure on the opposite bankside if you try. Folks fishing and picnicking all around the pond. Tiny stocked trout is what you will play with. A couple spots to access the Naches River though the fast flow seems unlikely to catch anything. Bathrooms available, clean grounds. Beautiful nature scenery. Nice park.

I've lived here for the majority of my life and I had no idea this place existed until I went on a retreat there. If you have the opportunity you should absolutely go! Just past Goldcreek station is the turn off for lost Creek. After following the road for a mile and a half, dump some very dusty areas and some windy roads, is a retreat center. The place has a large main recreation building that has plenty of punk style sleeping, as well as a main common area. It's perfect for groups of up to 30 or 40. There's some TVs on the way in that look like they can be used for camping, as well as some really nice areas for a campfire and an incredible spot for stargazing. The area for looking at the sky is probably the darkest place I've ever been with some absolutely spectacular views of the Milky Way. The overnight retreat that I went on was made better by being held here. In the morning you can walk outside and watch the sunrise over the hills or just hang out next to the river. Either way, it's totally refreshing for your soul. If you have the opportunity to come check this place out, it is absolutely worth your while. A+ to the team that runs this place!

We made a nice little fire and drove to nearby areas where we were able to get good photos and just relax. The scenery was beautiful and it was super peaceful and quiet. We had absolutely no cell service (Verizon) idk about anyone else. It was a nice getaway for the weekend. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable experience and I would do it again

We stayed at Sawmill Flat Campground for 3 nights in July 2014. We stayed in Site 5 with a large…read moretent, 2 adults, 2 kids and our puppy. We were able to fit our truck and box trailer on the parking pad. Site 5 was spacious, flat, and afforded some privacy - only neighbors on one side/behind you. Easy walk to bathroom and close to drinking water. This is a smaller campground, but it has a nice paved loop for the kids to ride their bikes. There is access to the Naches River but it was very swift and cold, so not really suitable for young kids to do more than splash at the shore. We did see adults fly fishing up river. There are plenty of decent vault toilets and the drinking water was cold and clear. Camp host was friendly and had lots of firewood to sell. The campground was quiet even though it was almost full. There wasn't much noise from Hwy 410. Site 7 is the closest to the Hwy, but has no neighbors, The sound of the river is nice. Bugs weren't bad at all during our stay, but there are lot of ant (they didn't bother us). Lots of chipmunks so keep you food closed up. The Whistling Jack Lodge is about 5 mins away if you need more provisions. Overall, a nice campground.

Once upon a time these cliffs and the surrounding rocks were barren of life. Volcanoes spewed lava…read moreforth over the landscape. As the lava cooled to match the temperature of the atmosphere structures developed within the lava flows. These structures are on full display in the Selah Cliffs. Millions of years later life is thriving here, and one species known as the Basalt Daisy is in high abundance here. Conservation efforts to protect and preserve both the natural landscape and native wildlife has resulted in the Selah Cliffs Natural Area Preserve. Just North of Selah driving North on Washington State Route 821 the adventure begins just past the 'Entering Yakima River Canyon' sign on the right hand side of the road. A short gravel road branching off at the truck turnaround leads to a looped gravel road with a parking lot on the side of the loop nearest the Preserve. A Discover Pass is needed to park here or incur a $99 fine. Interpretive signs along the trail throughout the Preserve aid in thinking about the natural significance and history of this area and how that connects to later human activity in the area. Millions of years from now these cliffs and the plains of the valley may be part of a lush jungle boasting life such as Saber-toothed Tigers, Jaguars, and Ocelots. Go Jaguars, nature's powerhouses of South and Central America! The creek may become a river and this once barren landscape may evolve into a green oasis similar to, though not the same as, the barren volcanic islands of Hawai'i later fostering diverse plant life once the volcanoes that form each island stop erupting. Nature can change in drastic ways. Embrace the passing of time and the changes in life it brings.

Because of this, we amscrayed down the road from the Pass (to get away from the skeeter-infested lakes)--we didn't want to get a gory goose egg hikewise. :::::::::: ENTER Sand Ridge Trail :::::::::: We eye-spied this trailhead wile driving up to White Pass. It's a bit nondescript and easily ignorable while driving past it, but it turned out to be a decent gem. The trailhead has a fairly large area with a couple of large areas for parking. There's a portapotty thingie. There's a trailhead board with info about the trail (wish it had a topo map). You need a Wilderness Pass to use the trail (or you could leave $5 in the box). ** Off we went ** The trail quickly slaps you up-side the head with elevation. Now I'm a berry-feasting-fiend, so I was on the prowl. After the first switchback I spotted a some tiny mountain strawberries. They were a tad larger than peas, but they pack some potent punch. So, I made like a bear for a few moments and gorged (sorta like the skeeters from the Pass) ;) Then off we went. The weather was so-so on this summer day, but it was actually perfect hiking weather. It wasn't super hot, and the moments of rain were refreshing. We reached the top of the ridge fairly quickly. Within a few minutes we came across three people on horseback, and made small talk. We then pressed on, and came to a fork. Being Native, I have to claim above-average tracking skills. I was able to determine that the horses came from the trail to our right (which looked to go down the other side of the ridge). We decided to take the left one and continue along the ridge. The ridge went on quite a bit and actually continued gaining in elevation. We were waiting for nice views, but we were too surrounded by pines to sport a window. The trail continues like this for a while--a bit ho-hum. But after about 2.5-3 miles we sorta hit a leveling off of the ridge. I also noticed some sandy conditions on the trail....hence the name: Sandy Ridge. Up on top we managed to find a few views. We also noticed the return of: **drumroll** mosquitoes! So, at this point, we decided to turn around. Going down was no big whoop. Although I must admit to snagging a few more strawberries again. :) *************** EPILOGUE: After getting home, scoured the topo for the area we turned around and sure enough, we happened to be near a few alpine lakes up on top. It woulda been cool to check 'em out. We'll save that for next time, later in the season, when it's cooler, and the mosquitoes are sleeping.

My fiancé and I along with our small dog enjoyed this trail. We hiked it July 28 and literally…read moredidn't encounter a single mosquito like others have said. The Mosquitos are only a problem in the spring and early summer here I would imagine. The first mile or two of the trail was rather silt-dusty. 3 or so miles into the trail it forks and you can either stay on the trail or take shell rock trail through miss covered stands of old growth pines. There is only a 15 min stretch where you have very good views. We really enjoyed this trail and would recommend it to most. It seems steep and difficult for the first hour but the entire trail is shaded and it levels off after a few miles into a very pleasant and beautiful hike.
