The Picker Knows is one of those places... Probably the premier, and my favorite, antique "mall" in the Des Moines metro! Rows and rows of vendor booth and cases. I'd hate to total the money up that I've spent here... And buying is great, but a lot of times I just have fun window shopping. Looking at the many different things here that I can't afford or have no business spending money on... Lol Very large display items, furniture, antiques, retro and vintage, some modern, a few clothes, comics, vinyls, Hot Wheels, some dusty and rusty things, handcrafted items, and tons of smalls! Prices are vendor driven. So some are high, some are at market, and there are great deals to be found here too. As a veteran I appreciate the veteran's only parking spot near the front door. At only 55 I pass it up a lot because there are veterans in A LOT worse shape than I am. But I have used it a couple of times. It's so easy to spend hours here! Vendors leave and new vendors fill their slots. And with the merchandise being vendor provided...the selection is ever changing! The staff is fantastic and always available for questions or to open a case! The bathrooms aren't terrible for this environment. They aren't perfect...pretty plain Jane...but they don't send you running for the hills. Lol The Picker Knows is a must stop in the Des Moines metro if you are into antiquing or thrifting!

This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't drive away...like I just about did…read more If you're into antiques and thrifting check out Gilroy's Antiques (and some furniture) in Jefferson. The owner is 95, sweet as apple pie, and will unfortunately be closing her business next summer. Art deco glass, vintage dinnerware, vintage tools, smalls of every kind, furniture, etc. Stuff in here is stacked and packed. In some aisles it's tough to turn around. Just back out slowly. If you can't find something here to take home you were just window shopping to begin with. A real hidden gem of a shop.

One of my favorite stops when I'm out thrifting. It's been a couple of different iterations over…read morethe years, but this one came with a remodel and it really classed the place up. Don't get me wrong... It's still a second hand store so don't expect Dillard's but comparatively spearking it's one of the cleaner nicer shops in the metro. What have I picked up here? Antiques, brass, an almost 6 ft set of longhorns, Buck knives, cast iron, tools... And most recentl y a vintage wall Coca Cola bottle opener that the owner gave to me free of charge when my gf mentioned it was my birthday. We're kind of regular customers... Lol Inventory varies by the day. We try to swing in often. Good people. A good shop. Not much else you can ask for.

They are "creeks" separated by a wall but they both have a very similar feel. So similar in fact that I asked my girlfriend... "Do you think these shops might have the same owner?" The atmosphere is low lit and cozy and the collection of merchandise is eclectic. Definitely not something that you run into every day... I'm not sure how to describe the merchandise. Pine Creek offers some seasonal and smaller home furnishing. More leaning to home good. And some items on Harvest Creek you don't necessarily think of when you think Iowa. Some border what you think of when you think wiccan or occult (not in a bad way though)... If I had to guess the owners have their own personal tastes and interests and they stock the shops to align with what they like and hope the market finds them. We really enjoyed looking through both of these little shops and they are ones I would encourage anyone coming through the Winterset area to stop and check out both Harvest Creek and Pine Creek Ltd!

Granaray Antique Mall has two levels and lots of offshoot rooms to explore! Cases, rows of shelves, and furniture! This is the mall that I would call a "guy's mall!" A lot of dark wood, brass, antlers, etc. But there's something for everyone here too... Everything from smalls like jewelry to furniture that probably weighs several hundred pounds. I picked up three brass firehose nozzles priced at $20 ea, but the vendor had their case marked at 50% off. Nozzles that should have been $30-$40 ea market value I walked away paying $10 ea. I left happy. Well worth the 1+hr trip from the Des Moines metro to Walnut on a beautiful Friday before Memorial Day! Granary Antique Mall and Walnut Antique Mall are two must stop destinations on your trip into Walnut IA!

It's mostly estate liquidation with lots of collectibles, antiques, kitchen items, household items, and some furniture. If you like smalls and glassware there is plenty of that too. Reasonable prices and an ever changing inventory. I don't think I've ever left here without buying something.
