Great shop with friendly employees. Good selection of mostly new items with some used books sprinkled in around various locations. I would like to add it is not the priority nor obligation for a private store owner to provide restroom services for customers based on perceived inconvenience to locate a public facility elsewhere. Went into the bookstore to buy a couple of books for our 3 small grandchildren. Our granddaughter needed to go to the bathroom. We asked if they had a bathroom that we could use and were told no, so we had to run her across the street to get her to the bathroom. The store must have a bathroom for their employees, but wouldn't offer it up to us for our granddaughter. I like supporting local businesses, but maybe they should reciprocate by supporting their customers needs. This seems to be a common theme in Wolfeboro. read more

My wife and I really enjoy browsing around in book stores. We just love The Country Bookseller in Wolfeboro, and try to stop in anytime we're in town. This is one of those small, privately owned shops that just welcomes you in the door, and teases you to have a cup of coffee, relax, and just hang out for awhile. It was a particularly wonderful experience this last time we went Saturday 10/27/18. The area had just had its first real snow that stuck, and the wind was still filled with stinging sleet as we were swept through the door and into the quite, almost cocoon like warmth. We had a lovely time just browsing through the shelves, and of course I found a book that I just had to have. You know, I could have probably gotten it online somewhere, but there's just nothing like scrounging around in a comfy place like this, and then buying it there to support these folks so we can come back and experience it all over again another time. read more

Country Bookseller is a quaint, tucked away bookstore in downtown Wolfeboro. Each section is nicely labeled with book genres and categories. Many new and popular titles could be found in the store. I always opt to find love bookshops to support especially during difficult times when homegrown book shops like these may struggle to remain open. Country Bookseller is located in the heart of downtown Wolfeboro, a quaint town in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. The store is wonderful - displays of new releases and staff picks are everywhere, the inventory is vast - something for everyone, and there is plenty of room for satistfying browsing. The staff at Country Bookseller are top-notch and knowledgeable - there is often thought-provoking conversation happening at the register and works from local artists and authors are featured. I have never left there without the book I was looking for. If they don't have it onsite, the staff will order it and have it for you within a week. Highly recommended. read more

Fantastic bookstore! They have a cafe with delicious gelato and a brand new, expanded children/young adult book section. Although the store itself is much smaller than a chain book store, they have an AMAZING selection of books, especially fiction and history--in the non-fiction sections. The owner, Karen, is truly a lovely person, as are all of her employees. They are so knowledgeable and well-read. She is more than willing to hold a book for you, give you suggestions, or order whatever you would want. They will even wrap your book for you, free of charge! I have been going here ever since I was a little girl, and the bookstore keep improving every year. It is some place I recommend everyone who visits Wolfeboro to stop into! read more

Love the bookstore! It's all Wolfeboro has to offer, but it's adorable. And they are frequently able to order things in for you if they don't have it on hand. The cafe is new and just okay. It offer gelato and coffee, sometimes. There isn't always someone on hand to help you. The bookstore itself is one of those small-town feel bookstores with a relatively good collection of books. They are centrally located downtown and easy to access. Anyone who lives in or had vacationed in Wolfeboro in the last 20+ years knows that the bookstore moved from their prior location (near the bubble) to the new location (near the candy store) and it is a vast improvement. Much more space means more books! The women who run it are kind and funny. They have owned the business for over 20 years and the love of what they do shines through with each interaction. I can't believe no one has reviewed this little gem of a shop yet! We love it there. It's a cozy little book store, set back from Main street in Downtown Wolfeboro. They stock a nice variety of titles in a clean, comfortable setting. Very charming. We love the children's books they carry. My niece & nephew love the books we've sent them from The Country Bookseller. Make it a stop on your vacation when visiting the area. I'm sure you'll find it lovely. read more

it's been a few years now but I remember clearly the anticipation when I saw the sign go up and the store fixtures being built. We were finally getting a real bookstore in Wolfeboro! What a treat. A great store I have visited for a number of years. The selection of books is extensive for an independent and they will happily special order any book that can be found on line. They even have a book lovers card where you buy 10 books and then get a credit for the average. The food and coffee are reasonably priced and they just started serving (this summer) gelato & sorbetto. read more
