Riverrun's new storefront at 142 Fleet Street.

They've re-opened and their new address is 142 Fleet Street (in other words, the map is wrong). The space is a bit smaller but nicer. They're still unpacking and the place is crowded, but go take a look and cheer them on. Riverrun is a locally owned bookstore which deserves support and while I don't think it has quite the personality of the bookstore in Exeter, I like it and I'm glad that Riverrun is in Portsmouth. There's even a video of the renovation: http://youtu.be/odleYcrUXAU

I hate not to be able to give 5* to support a local independent book shop. The fact the community formed a human chain to move the books from the more palatial market square shop not so long ago certainly shows love. Unfortunately, today the place has become overrun with dozens of boxes of used books. Running a small book store is certainly an impossible task today, but the nearby Book and Bar gets it quite a bit better.

Friendly service, inviting atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, reasonably priced books... this is a great local bookstore.

Loved this place! The owner really seemed like he had a collection of books he knew and loved and was happy to give me a recommendation.

Many older books in really nice condition. In what appears to be a house converted into a literary haven for book lovers, it's a spot that could easily be missed if you aren't directly searching for it! Despite having many older and used books they did honestly have a good selection of newer and popular books too! Compared to many other spots of similar nature I really appreciated the fact they had some newer and popular books in contrast to used books. It's a great way to bring in both those who want the popular and new and those looking to search through the shelves for that hidden gem! Prices seemed reasonable and while we did not interact with the owner nothing negative to say. A spot worth checking out if you find yourself in Portsmouth. One of a few Indie Bookstores you can support here in town!

In fact, this shop seems specifically geared for those who want something unique & special, but don't have any specific title in mind. Serendipity has taken up permanent residence here. Every time I walk in, I end up finding a gem I didn't know I needed. Sometimes it's a little worse for wear, sometimes it's as clean & bright as a new penny. Sometimes, still, it contains a treasure from a previous owner -- a postcard, a small note, or a personal inscription. My explorer's soul never seems to go hungry here. Highly recommended.

I was shopping at the outlet stores in Maine this past week and I noticed this store and saw that…read moreit sells calendars. So I went inside to see what they had since I will be needing a new calendar once the year is over and I figured why not get one right then and there while I happened to be at a store that sells them. They had a pretty good sized selection of calendars and some of them had a sticker on them with a special price. They have all sorts of different themed calendars. I saw ones with actors on them and others with flowers, cats, dogs, sunsets, television shows and much more. I chose a calendar that has photos of flower gardens. The photos on the calendar are beautiful and I lucked out because the calendar I picked happened to be one of the specially priced ones. After I made my selection I looked around the store for a few minutes. I saw other items such as jigsaw puzzles, toys for kids and board games for kids and adults alike. When I went to pay for my calendar the guy working at the cash register was very friendly and was a pleasure to deal with. I am glad I decided to stop by!

Selection- 5/5 Value- 4/5…read more Service- HORRIBLE 1/5 The selection was perfect! full of fun toys and games and calendars, as said in the name, Calendars, Toys, and Games.Value was neutral. But the service was just eww! I had a game picked out for my friend's B-Day, sure she would love it. I walked to the counter, ready to check out, when I noticed there was no one there. At first, I was not in a rush. 30 minutes until the B-Day party, and I thought it wouldn't take very long. But oh boy, was I wrong! 20 minutes later, NO ONE! I waited 5 more minutes. Still. I needed a present. The party was in 5 minutes! I just left, and I ran to a nearby candy store, Yummie's Candy And Nuts and grabbed candy. I thank Yummie's, while I am mad at Calendars, Toys, and Games. I would totally recommend it, but past events have left me wondering why this is rated 5 stars by most. I don't believe it. Other people clearly have had a better time than me. Review from Matthew Joe W. Has me puzzled. "Friendly gentleman behind the counter willing to assist us." Like WHAT?! I take it back. I don't recommend this toy store. Never going back in my life.
