It's nice to be greeted with friendly smiles at Samco. The store is huge, and it is not the normal convenience store with gasoline. They have a Cinnabon branch inside this Samco! That's right, they make fresh cinnamon rolls here!!! Yummy!! So when I'm on the Eastside of town near Fairfax, I'm going to Samco now.

The cashier, Mayra, was rude, unwelcoming, and acted like helping customers was an inconvenience. While I was waiting in line, a man came into the store with a pit bull. The dog was on a leash, but the owner wasn't holding onto it, so the dog was free to walk around near the front counter. I was next in line before he walked in, but he was helped first. When it was finally my turn, the dog was still walking around near the counter. I politely told the cashier that I didn't feel comfortable going up because I have PTSD and a severe fear of pit bulls after being attacked by one years ago. Instead of showing any concern, she rolled her eyes at me, acted annoyed, and simply moved to another register. What upset me the most was that neither the dog's owner nor the cashier seemed to care that I felt unsafe. As a customer, I shouldn't have to choose between paying for my items and feeling safe. A little understanding and professionalism would have made a huge difference. I have been a loyal customer of this store for a long time, but after being treated this way, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. I hope management addresses this situation and reminds employees that every customer deserves to be treated with respect and that customer safety should always come first. If you have small children please don't take your children to this store since they allow any dogs to come into the store without proper leash.
