    Kale and quinoa bowl
    Claudia T.

I wanted a veggie bowl and they delivered along with being willing to replace the egg with some sweet potatoes (they also offered mushrooms and a few other options) as I don't eat eggs. I appreciated that they had available options. The bowl kept me full and was sooo delicious along with refreshing during the summer time. They have the beautiful outdoor seating options in the back and such a mellow place to meet up for lunch. Staff was friendly, and helpful

I found myself in Bakersfield and hungry for lunch. This place was perfect! Beautiful inside and outside seating. Inviting and open, fresh menu options. I had the smash avocado sandwich. It comes open-faced with a side salad and pickles, and a sunny side up egg on top. Just the right amount of delicious, healthy food. There's a large parking lot and staff is friendly.

Such a beautiful day to enjoy the downtown location of Cafe Smitten! We grabbed a table on the patio, and it felt so peaceful with the overhanging trees and birds in the background -- the perfect little escape right in the city. Service was quick and genuinely friendly. I always go for the quinoa bowl, and today it was especially good -- the sweet potatoes were perfectly crispy. Paired it with a chai latte that had just the right amount of spice. We decided to splurge on a sweet waffle, and I'm so glad we did. The matcha whipped cream was absolutely delicious. Definitely one of my favorite downtown spots!

We stopped by for a quick matcha. It was my first time trying it, and it was great! I do like my matcha a bit sweeter, so for me, it was perfect.

I stopped by Café Smitten on 18th Street after missing breakfast while meeting some workmen downtown. It was a quick visit, but a really pleasant one. The service was excellent--my Americano was ready in no time while they got my oatmeal prepared. Once I got everything, I headed back to the site and enjoyed my breakfast. They included fresh strawberries and blueberries, golden raisins, a bit of brown sugar, and some milk to mix in. Everything tasted great and it was just a really nice start to the day. If you find yourself in the downtown area, give Cafe Smitten a try.

Great drinks and vibes! The cafe is also a nice size if you want to study or just eat with friends and family and the outdoor section is also another great option. The service is good too!

A cute and reasonably priced cafe! Kind of random, but I love that this cafe has tons of windows to bring a bunch of light in. They mostly have tables for 2-4 seaters, but they do have one long table with bar stools (however, it's usually preoccupied by people studying!). The prices are pretty reasonable for the items that you get. I personally really enjoyed the Moroccan eggs, which come with two pieces of bread & a small cup of side salad. It comes nice and hot, perfect for the cold weather!! My friends all got burritos / steak wraps, but felt that their meat was pretty dry and tasteless. The matcha was unfortunately really milky and did not really taste like matcha :(. I feel that it is inconsistently made because when I was leaving, I happened to notice another customer got a really beautiful dark green matcha. My friend also got a chai which she felt was toooo overpowered by the amount of cinnamon that was added. The cinnamon brown sugar coffee was strong and sweet though! I personally would return just to give it another try / try other items on the menu!

I met u with a friend to catch up at Café Smitten and we both had such a great time here. Café Smitten is located in Downtown Bakersfield. They have a private lot and plenty of street parking in the area. You order at the cashier and they'll give you a number and you seat yourself. There is a front outdoor area, indoor seating, and a nice shaded back patio. Their menu had so many tasty options to choose from. We both ended up getting the Moroccan Eggs ($14.50/each) and Blackberry Lemonade MimoSmitten ($8/each). There were convenient self-serve water stations around the restaurant. We also grabbed some water and then headed to the back patio where there were many shaded tables. The food was soooooo delicious. Our Moroccan eggs came with toasted bread to dip into the tomato base. The meal also came with some tomato and cucumbers, pickles, and a creamy sauce. My favorite bites of the meal is definitely when the poached egg mixed with the tomato and onions and I ate all of that in one bite with some toasted bread. Yum! We both enjoyed our meal here and would definitely come back. The mimosmitten was also really refreshing and fun. I also really liked that we were able to chat and catch up and linger on a bit without feeling rushed. Overall a great spot for brunch. I'll definitely want to try their lattes the next time I come here.

We were happy to stop by Cafe Smitten to hang out while friends were in town. It was a nice day, so we were able to enjoy the outdoor seating area. We also chose this place because we were able to bring our friend's dog. The service was great, they were nice. Food was delicious. Breakfast burrito was a good size for 1 person, definitely didn't feel stuffed. Each of us enjoyed our meals and this is definitely a place we'd come back to especially on a nice day to eat outdoors. I would also like to come back and try their pastries.

I really liked the atmosphere of the cafe, even though it can get crowded at times. The drink followed along by my brownie was such a good combo. I'm def coming back

We tried the summer special drinks and they were all pretty good. My favorite was the cinnamon banana oat milk latte. I also liked the almond milkshake. I had to try the strawberry oatmilk matcha and it was very pretty

10/10 experience! I ordered a strawberry mocha latte and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. The service was excellent as well with such a welcoming environment and such kind staff. It's a cute little cafe to do work and I like how there's multiple outlets as well.

This place is so delicious. I popped in today and discovered that they have a pistachio muffin, which is amazing. I highly recommend it. Their coffee is always fresh and delicious and brewed just right. Their lattes have the right amount of milk and foam. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The café is not too busy right when they open and throughout the day, it just gets busier and busier, and sometimes seating can be hard to find. If you're looking for a breakfast and need some head downtime to work on things on a device... There are a few seating options where you can connect and work on their free Wi-Fi. Enjoy

If you love breakfast foods, you definitely can't go wrong by going here. I always struggle with what to choose because everything is so good! The chilaquiles with any choice of meat is incredibly flavorful and one of my favorites on the menu. We finally decided to try Huevo House, and with a name like that I was expecting both cuisines, but I wasn't expecting the Mexican flavors to be this good! The menu was a decent size--one side for breakfast and the back for lunch. I didn't look at the lunch side, but the breakfast options were great: plenty to choose from without feeling overwhelming. They serve pozole on Fridays and Saturdays and menudo on Sundays. The pozole was full of flavor and honestly one of the highlights of our visit. Thank goodness we finally found a place that satisfies us both! I ordered the Country Benedict and he ordered the Brunchiladas--both dishes were delicious and came in generous portions. We also tried the Abuelita Latte and the Mazapán Latte. Both were very good, just on the sweeter side, so if you're not into sweet coffee definitely ask for half sweet. Our server was attentive and informative. She took great care of us and even made conversation, which added to the overall experience. Overall, such a good visit. We'll definitely be back!

The vibes in the new space are absolutely immaculate. There is so much more energy here, and the decorations are incredibly cute. It's the perfect backdrop for a killer meal. The Main Event: This time around, I went with the En Fuego Burger. This beast is loaded with a chile-spiced beef patty, pepperjack, sharp cheddar, thick-cut bacon, chipotle mayo, pepper relish, pickled jalapeños, and a mountain of fried jalapeños + onion strings. The Flavor Profile: This burger delivers on every level, but those fried onion strings were to die for. For the side, I got the sweet potato fries, which are served as big, thick-cut wedges. They come paired with a duo of spicy ketchup and a marshmallow dipping sauce. Switching between the two was amazing, the marshmallow sauce actually makes the fries feel like a dessert. The Drink: To wash it all down, I ordered the basil lemonade, and omg, I need to figure out how to recreate this at home. It's exactly what it sounds like, crisp, refreshing lemonade with a perfect herbal basil finish. The Verdict: If you loved their old spot, the new location takes everything to the next level. Between the upgraded atmosphere, the dessert-like fries, and that refreshing lemonade, I will absolutely be coming back here again and again.

I immediately noticed that my favorite dish, the shakshuka eggs, was no longer on the menu. Thinking it might just be a seasonal change, I decided to try something different. I ordered the carrot ginger soup, beet and goat cheese salad, and my usual favorite cocktail, the Pear Necessities. The cocktail was the first disappointment. It tasted completely different from what I've come to enjoy, none of the smoky mezcal flavor and none of the sweetness from the pear liquor that made it a favorite. I figured it might just be a new bartender and tried to brush it off. The carrot ginger soup was just okay. I found myself searching for both the carrot and ginger flavors, neither of which really stood out. The beet and goat cheese salad was fine, but it's hard to get too excited about a salad. Overall, the food felt subpar compared to what I've come to expect from Moo Creamery. The restaurant itself was also surprisingly loud, making conversation difficult and adding to the overall frustration. It was hard to get our waitress's attention throughout the meal, and service felt disjointed. The most disappointing moment came when we noticed my son's chicken strips and fries sitting on the counter for 13 minutes before they were finally brought to our table. By then, it was difficult not to question whether the food was still as fresh and hot as it should have been. We came in excited to experience the new location, but between the noisy atmosphere, inattentive service, and food that didn't live up to Moo Creamery's usual standards, we left feeling disappointed. Sadly, I probably won't be returning. It's hard to justify giving it another try when there are so many other restaurants in town that consistently deliver quality food, service, and a better overall dining experience.
