Been coming here for years now and the Adeni Tea is hands down my favorite drink in town. I was already a milk tea kinda girlie in the boba universe, but this was the first beverage of theirs that I tried and it scratched a certain itch I'd been unconsciously craving. Something old-world maybe? Like a flavor that's existed for centuries and been passed down through time and so so many generations... and it's now landed in our corner of the world that's just a few blocks away? Globalization and the world within, for f' sakes! This place is truly brilliant. More recently, I'm only in town a few days out of the week, but I make a point to visit this location or their other location, Mokhamena on Panama, each day I'm here to, at a minimum, pick up two for myself--the first one is to function and the second is to savor. There was a time I'd pick up the party-size for my coworkers when I liked them... but alas, times have changed so more for me. The staff there are always friendly and awesome, and on days that I'm lucky enough, I get to actually enjoy the cafe. I stopped by Mokha Cafe during a recent Bakersfield visit. I wanted to get some coffee before getting back on the freeway, and I saw that this spot had positive reviews and was nearby. The cafe is located in a plaza with ample parking spots, and the employees I interacted with were polite and efficient. I ordered a Turkish coffee and thought it was a great version of the drink; it may have been small in size, but it had a potent flavor. The two guys at register definitely are not welcoming, not sure if it's a cultural thing or what . Either way they should try to be more welcoming to paying customers. As far as coffee goes it's just ok if you like bland watered down coffee . Tried it , but definitely won't be returning. read more

I had no idea this locally owned coffee shop existed in Bakersfield until Yelp! There are even 3 locations- one in downtown, on Panama Ln, and this one. I went twice to this location two days in a row because I enjoyed it so much. First with a friend and then I had to introduce it to my kids. The coffees and teas are delish and unique, as well as the smoothies and juices (I didn't try those but my kids loved them). We tried a variety of baked goods, the honeycomb bread is sooooo dang good! Filled with little pockets of cream cheese, drizzled with honey, and topped with toasted regular and black sesame seeds (I forgot to take a pic of this one, but I'll add it next time I go). We enjoyed all of the pastries we tried- not a crumb on our plates by the time we were finished! This is a wonderful addition to our city! I was very excited to try this place and get a feel for Yemeni coffee. We ordered a coffee and a matcha and I was able to try and enjoy both. I think it's good coffee and matcha I just didn't understand how their product differed from anything else. It's not bad and I would get it again but I didn't get a feel for the region. I remember when I tried Turkish coffee for the first time and the richness of flavor and strength, Salvadoran coffee and its rich aromatics, Palestinian and its rich nutty textures via spice, but here I was left wondering. Yes, this is a pistachio coffee, but what makes it different? I don't know. Yes, this is a pistachio matcha, but what made it different. Don't know. Good sure, but I can't really describe how it is unique. The baklava, certainly, provided this rich information. Compared to other baklavas it was drier and crunchier in a way that was satisfying and light. I would prefer to eat this baklava if I was watching my sugar and calories, which coincidently I currently am. Other baklavas are more decadent and syrup/sugar heavy. I was left with a want for more out of how light and delicious they are. I hope to try their cake offerings soon! The Vimto refresher is my absolute favorite new drink. It has sparkling water with berries. Chefs kiss. I know it's going to hit hard in the summer when I'm needing a cold drink. Kind baristas that are knowledgeable & definitely hard workers! They are a very busy business & they handle it with ease. One thing I do not care for (but it will not affect negatively on my review) is credit card payments. Your subtotal they tell you after you order is only if you pay cash. If you pay card, it is atomically more because of credit card charges but they do not say that. It will also reflect an even higher amount on the screen because it automatically adds 20% gratuity to your credit card charge. So it goes from one price, to another, to another. This is the first time trying this establishment. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about their products. A young lady asked what I would like. I asked her what her favorite drink is she said the pistachio latte. She went into detail about the flavor and intensity of the coffee. I ordered a 20oz with medium ice. It was fantastic. I am a fan of all things pistachio, but was enticed by the SANA'ANI LIMEADE, a refreshing drink with a well balanced blend of fresh limes, sugar, and milk. I also had a shortbread cookie, which was not too sweet like most shortbread cookies. My husband had the Saudi coffee and baklawa. Currently my favorite coffee shop! Personal favorite drink to get is their pistachio latte! I also had a chance to have a few of their desserts and each one has been a freaking hit. Many tea and coffee choices hot and cold. The real treat for me was the sweets. The baklava had flaky pastry roasted nuts and honey it was a good flavor profile not too sweet with a subtle roasted nut flavor. The basboosa is a semolina flour cake topped with nuts and coconut then covered with a simple syrup. It was good but the sweetness of the syrup was a little overpowering. My wife had a muwafa tea. It was black tea with deep rich flavor finished with a caramelly syrup. Was told that is was very balanced and flavorful. My favorite was the kunafa shredded phyllo dough with crushed nuts and syrup. It was a sublime combination of roasted nut flavor and crispy dough with a slight sweetness. It was awesome. This is a place that has treats that you may not be familiar with but are delicious. The hazelnut special latte was a good amount of sweet, but it had a pretty thick consistency that isn't my favorite in coffee. I still enjoyed it though. I stopped here on my way to run some errands. I'd heard some rumblings about this place and said " Why not." I was craving something savory so I got the manakeesh and a pistachio latte while my oldest couldn't order the Dubai chocolate covered strawberries fast enough. The food was delicious as was the latte...my problem was with the restroom. There was a sign that said to throw the TP in the trash and I know that people on septic tanks do this but at a place of business that serves food??? It just doesn't sit right with me. I've been wanting to try this fairly new coffee shop , having had Turkish pastries before I was excited to see what they had to offer. I stopped in on my way to work and decided to go with a simple Americano and a Sabayah. I have to say I was disappointed it was a bit stale even after being heated up in the microwave. I'm sure if it was fresh it would have been delicious cause the middle part I had did taste good. But unfortunately the rest was not. As for the Americano it was okay nothing special , next time I might just try the Turkish coffee and another pastry, and perhaps update my review.
