Another small farm supply store. It is not a Home Depot, and that is a good thing. Interesting but limited stock. You can find it in a small building alongside a favorite strawberry and vegetable stand and strawberry field. What they do have is encouraging: tools, bulk grass seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, and traps and poisons for rodent control, to name a few. Some things appear to be far better priced than most, bulk seeds for one. Hidden in the back are a small selection of healthy looking vegetable starts. This is the kind of place where you can feel comfortable you are going to get some sage advice for gardening problems. It is more of a "mom and pop" operation for the locals. read more

Outside of the store is a little cart with vegetable garden plants and that is about the extent of live plants. Inside you will find all types of varieties of seeds, gardening tools, fertilizers, lawn care products and best of all, experts in the business to give you great advice on keeping your lawn and garden in pristine condition.. I came in looking for unfertilized grass seed for a high school science project. Most grass seed these days sold commercially is coated with fertilizer. HD and Lowes did not have what I was looking for, and then I remembered Country Farm Supply which is just about the only business in this whole region which sells grass seed in bulk, by the pound, and they carry about 10 different varieties. Almost 40 years ago, we bought our first brand new home in Chino Hills. Our landscaper told us we could buy urea, to keep our lawn green, at Country Farm Supply and we've been going there ever since. Over the years, they have helped us with so many "yard challenges", from getting rid of gophers to killing tree stumps and from re-seeding lawns to planting a hillside. They took a true interest in each situation and recommend solutions that worked. And it seems they always save us money. I've gone in there asking for something like grass seed, in a quantity that would have covered 3 or 4 yards. Without making me feel stupid, they asked about the size of the area I was covering and recommend a much more suitable amount. My husband always loves checking out the tools and equipment they stock there and usually comes home with some kind of new gizmo. Boys and their toys! As far as customer service, there is none better. They always have plenty of help and the employees are actually knowledgable. And they have never tried to sell us things we didn't need or more expensive merchandise, just because. In fact, it's quite the opposite; they are always focused on giving you solutions at the best price possible. We began going to Country Farm Supply, long before there were any Big Box Stores. But even now, they are very competitive on prices and can't be touched as far as their awesome advice and customer service. I'd highly recommend these guys to everyone! read more

I was going to home depot for my lawn needs and a friend recommended this place. I went there and asked the older gentlemen with the fender shirt (maybe the owner) some questions about getting rid of some crabgrass. I told him I purchased the weed be gone from home depot and asked him if he recommend something better. He said they didn't carry that brand of weed b gone and he said nothing kills crab grass and the conversation ended there. I ended up buying some fertilizer and left the store. I wanted to look at the garden hoses so I went back in the store. I overheard the older gentlemen taking to one of his co-workers about me saying something like "SCREW HIM! GO BACK TO HOME DEPOT!" I am assuming the older gentlemen thought I left the store because the look on his face when he saw me again was priceless. I simply said "thanks for your help and left." I never write bad reviews but this incident really upset me it's not cool to talk about customers like that, especially potential customers. I usually like to support local businesses but I will not be coming back here. read more

I must say thumbs up to the businesses out to actually help those who come into their stores instead of just trying to make a sale. I was looking for rock dust which is quite hard to find since not many people have heard of it. Was able to find a small 10lb bag here at Country Farm Supply. My gopher guy suggested this place and I have been happy with the services until an incident which disappointed me. I bought ground squirrel baits in buckets three times. I noticed my second purchase has only one half full. I was only puzzled at the time until I bought the third times. I asked the young boy to open for me and he had to break the straps to open. Now I remember I have to do it the first time but did not have to break the straps the second time. It has already removed. I remembered the second purchase was served by an older guy. I am surprised this could happen in America. May be he did not expect me to write a review as am a 82 year old Asian American. read more

If your interested in supporting local small businesses, this is a mom and pop store. They are very nice and helpful. If they don't have something you need in the store, they will try to order it for you. I go here for garden supplies, like E. B. Stone fertilizers, neem oil, capsaicin animal repellant, heirloom seeds, etc. Their prices are very reasonable. I've found them to be a lot less expensive than bigger garden stores. The only reason I didn't give this store a 5 is because it is a small store and so naturally they have a smaller selection than bigger stores. But, they are well worth a visit for the things they do have and to see if they can order other supplies you need. You can also call ahead to ask about specific products. Just know they are closed on Sundays. read more

Stopped at this store and picked up a 50 pound bag of winter rye grass seed $23. paid half the price I paid at HD was about $44. Mark at the counter educated me, didn't know there is a perennial rye grass. Stores like this are under estimated. Price is not inflated. I dislike big box stores, hate walking across store to get what I need. No parking hassles here, easy in and out and helpful loading to my car.
