I was in the area for a scenic train ride with my kids and dog and stopped here after. The fact that this store is dog friendly was the big draw for us. This store is much more than the "world's largest country store". There is a petting zoo and garden center outside, an arcade and bowling alley inside, a restaurant, a pet store and there is even an Ashley Furniture attached (dogs not allowed in this section). The store is filled with really random things from Amish jarred foods to pool floats. The store is set up in a way that you follow a path that winds around the entire store, kind of like an IKEA. There are animatronics throughout with buttons you press. There is truly something for everyone here and it's a fun, kitschy stop if you're in the area. read more

Country Junction bills itself as the "World's Largest General Store"--and honestly? I believe it. This place is INSANE (in the best possible way). I'm a sucker for roadside attractions, oddities, and general nonsense, so of course this was on my must-see list. We went mid-day on a Saturday in September, and the place was absolutely buzzing--families, couples, even dogs on leashes all meandering through what can only be described as a retail fever dream. What's inside? Well...what isn't inside? A pet store (yes, with live puppies, fish, and even baby chicks), a hardware store, a kitchen store, a home décor shop, a bakery, a full arcade, a restaurant, a snack bar, and an outdoor petting zoo. Add in taxidermied moose, aquariums, spices, puzzles, and you start to get the idea. It's like someone said, "Sure, we'll carry that too," about 10,000 times--and never stopped. To help you navigate the chaos, there's a "yellow brick road" painted on the floor that guides you through the maze of departments, food sample stations, and even some ancient animatronics straight out of the early 1990s. Cool? Yes. Creepy? Also yes. Visitor beware: if you want to take in the full spectacle, you'll need at least 2+ hours. There's no rushing here--traffic moves slowly, stopping to ooo and ahhh at every random corner. Pro tip: grab a drink or a snack and wear your patient pants. Prices seemed fair--about what you'd expect at a big-box store. I didn't notice many one-of-a-kind general store finds, but the sheer variety makes it a wild experience. Parking was plentiful and easy. The downside? The bathrooms. Yikes. Broken toilet paper holders, dingy sinks, and a general vibe that screamed "better than a Port-A-John, but not by much." Definitely not where I'd want to change a baby. We made a few small purchases, laughed our way through the madness, and checked it off the bucket list. Was it entertaining for a few hours? Fun, quirky, family-friendly roadside diversion. After seeing this place advertised on a Facebook reel, our family decided to take the over hour drive on a Saturday afternoon to see what we have been missing. Pulling into the parking lot, we first noticed the small amusement park which seemed to have a number of child sized rides, but must have been closed for the winter months. (It instantly gave me Wally World vibes.) Parking selection was ample at the time of our visit. Upon entering, we navigated to the first available restrooms and were surprised to find how dilapidated and poorly maintained they were. Yikes! The lighting was poor, the stalls were out of order, and the sinks were in poor repair. Huge put off and negative experience here. I would never want to take a child into this restroom to have to change them. The advertisement for the petting zoo was a bit misleading as it depicted a cow and we anticipated seeing one. The caged animal area consisted of about 5 goats, 4 peacocks, 2 ducks (the pump next to the duck pond was in disrepair and disassembled), a turkey, and a flock of chickens. No cows, horses, etc. needless to say it was a bit disappointing. There was an additional area that was again non-operational and not well maintained. I don't know if this was due to seasonal influences or poor upkeep. The individual unisex bathrooms located a bit further into the store were a bit better maintained and stocked. Those were largely spaced for those who may use mobility assistance or who have strollers and young children. The store itself is absolutely massive with a huge selection of anything you can think of. It felt like we were walking through a maze of merchandise. (Don't shop here if you're on a budget or you are easily influenced by sale prices.) There is even a pet store with live animals, fish tanks, and a pet groomer located within the store. There were fun diversions throughout the store with animatronics that came to life at the push of a button. Many of them were Wizard of Oz themed; however many were also just fun and quirky. These certainly added to the shopping experience, making it more positive and interactive. Our shopping experience (which took about 2 hours from the time of arrival) provided us with some memorable moments and some good buys. While we weren't amazed, we wouldn't totally write it off and would consider making another trip in the future warmer months to see if the seasonal aspect improves the quality of the experience. read more

More or less a dilapidated ancient roadside attraction that has a little bit of value if you're into cosplaying "old timey countryside general store" realness. Was probably really bustling and cute in 1983. More or less a huge warehouse that has a variety of types of establishments all piled in together for no apparent reason, including an ACE Hardware and an Ashely Furniture. (I'm guessing these were added at some point by the owners in order to make rental income when the main attraction stopped attracting.) Some notes: Skip the bakery. The baked goods are all flavorless garbage. Yuck. DO get a jar of jam. They're insanely delicious. The animatronics are TRAGIC. They're gross looking, run-down and creepy. Full on "Five Nights at Freddy's" vibes. Enjoy them in a sad way. The "petting zoo" is depressing. It looks like these poor animals are barely taken care of. It's just honestly tearjerking to see four peacocks kept in a smelly, wet, cold barn with a tiny outdoor space to roam surrounded by wire fencing. I imagine if you live in the rural boonies and you want a place to throw a kid's birthday party, most kids would be happy with their little gaming and party area, but it's giving "post apocalyptic Chuck E. I was very curious and had to stop in on my way back home to NJ. They claim they are the biggest Country Store in the World. They have a very large parking lot, and have handicapped parking up front and in several areas. Be prepared to do a lot of walking. This General Store is really many stores in one all connected. You start at one end of the store and follow the yellow brick pathway through tons of aisles and along the way you can see many animated displays that are interactive and give information to visitors by touching a button. The path will eventually take you through to the many different sections of this Huge General Store,and you will wind up on the other side and come full circle. If you continue there is a fun Kids Section. They have an automated 6 lane bowling alley, and an arcade with all kinds of games. Country Junction General Store has private areas so they can host birthday parties and events. Outside kids love it. They have carnival rides, farm animals and hay rides. Country Junction hosts a number of special events yearly from Spring thru Fall. Back in 2006 there was a huge 10 million dollar fire, 80,000 sq ft was destroyed in their main building. The owner Everett knew the locals needed a place to shop and most of their Christmas items were stored off the premises. He erected a very large tent on the property and was back in business in a week. This place remained like this for two years until it was rebuilt. You will also find Street-Homespun Fudge, Candy, Pies, and more. Bulk candy is sold by the handfuls. There is a Pet Section. You will find pet supplies of all kinds.Pet Foods and Treats, Live Animals, Dogs, Cats Fish, Small Animals and Reptiles. They have Pet Grooming, and Nail Trimming, Do it Yourself Large Wash Stations for rent. You can even purchase puppies of all breeds.You can check online for the different breeds. There is an Ashley Furniture section they have sofas, bedroom sets, dining room etc. Ace Hardware Section for home improvement. Lumber and tools, BBQ Grills etc. There's a Rental Section we're you can rent Excavators, Small Lifts, Dumpsters, Party Equipment Rentals such as Cotton Candy Maker, Popcorn Maker, Hot Dog Roller and more... They have a Service Team that can do Expert Installations of Vinyl Siding, Sturdy Garage Doors, and kitchens. Their indoor space holds a little bit of everything with potato peelers, canned jellies and jams to candles and clothing. If your squimish beware, they have tons of animal heads, and full size animals of all kinds that are stuffed. I'm not sure why we missed this, but our parents never passed on that age-old advice that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. So, not being burdened by that restraint, here we go. My wife and I were not impressed with our visit to Country Junction. It's tough to say what we expected, but what we saw wasn't it. While we would not recommend that anyone make a special trip to go there, as we did, we would say that if you are in the area, by all means stop in and draw your own conclusions. To cut to the chase, their prices are too high. Beyond that, it's not an open floor plan. The store is set up as a kind of poor-man's amusement park walk-through experience. You are guided through the store by a yellow brick road (painted cobblestones) and essentially forced to visit every department from front door to check-out. It's a bit like a continuous point-of-sale isle. Along the way way there are simple animatronic displays the might, or might not, do something. They do have more-or-less standalone sections for hardware (Ace) and furniture (Ashley), so that could be a draw for locals if the prices are fair. We didn't check those. As for me, I was in the store for ten minutes and was ready to bolt. My wife likes to browse, so I was trapped. It's not our thing, but it might be yours. read more

This place is very difficult to review.It is a very strange and unique operation that consists of : a petting zoo, furniture store, arcade and restaurant, bakery, pet store, seasonal items and many other retail categories. It is a great place to bring kids , while walking around there are many animated characters including some dinosaurs that were actually pretty cool. It's a fun way to pass an afternoon if you're in the Pocono area. I was able find some interesting items including sone barbecue sauce and cooking utensils that were priced pretty reasonably. 5/14/22 My first time at Country Junction. It's in a beautiful setting and I thought it was a fun place to visit. It reminded me of a cross between a low budget Disney and Cabellas with the animatronics. It's definitely different- there is a carnival area in the back that wasn't open when we were there. It was really unique for sure. The place is large and it's a fun place to visit. There's an Ashley furniture store, ace hardware, a snack bar-restaurant (I did not eat there) home decor items, patio furniture, and a grocery area for shelf items. There was also a good looking candy counter. I felt some of the prices were higher than other places but that's understandable given the size of the building. We had a terrific time here and I kept wondering if I would ever find my way out! I did after 45 minutes. The old lady in me kept thinking "God help you if you have a medical emergency". ‍ I'm not sure I would travel a long distance to go but if you're in the area I encourage you to swing by. Even with the covid rules in place and following them. It was still very much a pleasant experience something fun to do. Very very diverse place. One minute outside you can be taking a hayride or a corn maze in the fall then the next, you see animals. Then moving inside it is very diverse. Many different kinds of foods. Confections. Around the next corner you can pick out new kitchen countertops, the next minute getting Christmas decorations, the next minute having pizza and video games with the kids. Have been coming to Country Junction for quite some time. It has gone downhill. However, my daughter loves it and asks to go anytime we are in the area. The arcade barely works. One of the stuffed animal machines was 8 points which equates to $8. Not happening. The items for sale are more expensive than you can buy anyplace else. Also, be careful and make sure you check food item Expiration dates. On our last trip there in February 2022 there were some things for sale on the shelf that expired in July 2021. I continuously walk out spending less and less than I used to. The restaurant attached has good food, great ice cream and friendly workers. read more

Been here twice while visiting Jim Thorpe, once in 2003 on a romantic getaway and again with a young grandchild this past weekend in 2021. Both were two very different experiences. In 2003 we went because we were struggling to find things to do and were told it was a must see. I remember it was large, well organized, and had a good bit of unusual merchandise and either taxidermy or large statues of animals. It was cute but not necessarily a must see, especially for a couple sans kids. Just this past weekend we stopped again. This time around there were outside attractions and activities (petting zoo, ice cream, small playgrounds, etc). I felt underwhelmed by this area. It was dumpy, the animals appeared neglected and uninterested in people, and overall it felt dirty. The play equipment provided was geared towards very small kids - toddler age - and even my 6 year old was bored. The inside is still massive, some areas were set up better than others, and the way the layout is "guides" you thru the store in the same manner an Ikea showroom does. Some depts had cool items, others pretty run of the mill, but it was a complete stop for all your shopping needs. Given the lack of retail shopping in this general area it's probably a godsend to locals. They even had a hardware store. One of the highlights for me was the locally made food items, although they had were had prices geared towards tourists. Just as we thought we saw it all we stumbled upon another guided way which lead us to a pet store, outdoor decor items, to the adjacent furniture store, and a huge arcade complete with bumper cars and a bowling alley. The arcade did not appear to be open or manned, but I wish I would have known about it the previous evening when we were bored at the hotel. I do feel overall the cleanliness. and modernization fell behind the times since my visit in 2003, and it does have a dumpy, dated feel. Overall it's very "kitchy" and Americana. Is it a must see? Probably not but unless you are totally into outdoor activities you will be looking for things to do, especially as a family. read more

Follow the yellow brick road! The aisles of this huge country store wind through different themed areas where you can shop with your heart's delight. We found some really nice, unique Christmas ornaments here--bummer that they only had two :( They advertise a petting zoo and at the registers there is a sign that reads, "Visit our animals outside." Yeah, there are no animals outside! There was a funnel cake food truck that was closed, a cotton candy food truck that was open, a little park for kids to play that was just dirty and some empty animal stalls/buildings. I don't even know how to describe this place. This is the second time we've been there. I feel like last year we were taken off guard going in here thinking it was going to be some kind of classy general store like the ones they have frequently down in places like Tennessee. This is a little like that I guess, but it's also mixed in with a hardware store, a pet store, and a furniture store. The products are not organized in rows and columns but in a kind of maze. They have weird animatronics singing throughout the store. Some of them are themed for the Wizard of Oz and some of them are just random. If you get separated from your group 10 out of 10 you will not find them again. This year they had an obscene amount of Christmas supplies, it was just section after section of Christmas stuff. I wouldn't really say the prices on most things are any great deal or anything. The very end of the store seems to be an over stock warehouse section with random or niche brands on discount, it's worth looking in this section. At the end they have a bakery and a chocolate shop. Other than that and a few coolers of iced tea and such they don't have any other grocery perishables. There is some sort of food court attached to the store but I've never gone in there. I'm not really sure who this store is for, it feels like a tourist trap but then they have the hardware, pet store, and furniture stores part of everything else so that stuff is obviously more for locals. All I know is that once you set foot in here you will feel like you are high on something, as you follow the yellow brick road through some weird land of Oz where they are trying to sell you Christmas towels, it feels like it will never end as you trudge on past talking pigs and life sized velociraptors, you soon become isolated, as everyone you were with disappears and the music drowns out your calls to them. Once you finally make it to the end you will wonder if what you just experienced was real or part of an elaborate sick joke. And the employees don't seem to understand your struggle, to them this is just their everyday. You may or may not be reunited with the rest of your group, those that do make it out might feel some aftereffect sickness. But beware, if you are not careful the store will continually draw you back, no matter how far you run, you will never forget the fever dream that is Country Junction. read more

What a fun store to shop. Anytime I'm in the area I like to visit and "follow the yellow brick road". What a brilliant way to get everyone to walk the entire store and not skip aisles. We always find something cool to buy from here. They have anything you can think of except for clothes. A few of the things are .... candy .. candles.. baking items.. hardware store.. pet store.. movie theater.. holiday items .. garden items ..inspirational signs. It's hard to review Country Junction. It's like this run down, vast open space where you should stop if you're traveling around in the Poconos from out of the area. This place is a staple and must go to place when road tripping through the region. It's nothing special. But it's traditional. We used to stop by here all the time when I was younger. And now that I was there yesterday, I have a bit more clarity. Great stop if you need a bathroom break. Gift shops or a bit tacky but that's what this place embodies. And there's a wonderful little ice cream store that's quite refreshing. People don't know what it is about this place that looks like it's been abandoned, but it just has some history to it and it's a great stop for pictures and browsing. The weird things is that if you are local to area, there is another side to this place, the hardware section is good, they sell pets and pet supplies at a decent price, they even have stuff for your home. It truly is a general store, they just surround that whit a bunch of tourist stuff to get people from out of that area to come here also. read more

First of all. It's pet friendly. It automatically bumps it up a notch. Second, it IS the largest country general store I've ever seen. Sort of like a fusion between Costco, Home Depot, an outdoor fair and a farmer's market, but with character and flavor. The place is like a country Hammecher Schlemmer. If it is sold, they probably have it. Entering the newly looking store, there is a fresh Vegetable Farmers's Market. Then you go through a Fudge factory. Then a sweets and candy store. And a furniture store... And a hardware section... And an appliance section... And... And... you name it. Outside, in a large tent where the impromptu store was housed after the fire, there's new outdoor equipment, home renovation supplies and a children playground. A visit to Country Junction needs to be planned. You will never leave on time. An excellent place to visit, shop, and enjoy. read more

We recently visited during their fall festival. The entire complex was lively and my wife and I really enjoyed the wine tasting and live music. The store itself has an array of random Americana within its walls. My wife and I picked up some baked goods and and jar of delicious rhubarb jam. Surely worth the trip if in the area. read more

I love this place I wish it wasn't so far or maybe then make a store similar to this close to New York City. It is a place full of almost everything you can think of, from chocolate, treats, chips, hot sauce, house decorations, cleaning supplies, Halloween customes, Christmas decorations, fish tank, and unfortunately dogs. I am not for dog stores because of all the horrible stories I have read about it, but for the other stuff it is a fun place to just walk around and get lost in. Coming from the Poconos I saw this store pop up in nearby places on my yelp, it took 1.5 hours to get to Country Junction which is not too bad then almost 3 hours from there to Brooklyn. Country Junction - World's Largest General Store is located in Lehighton, PA. I was first up in the area on 8/31/20 to visit Vena's Flag Store further down the road the Country Junction itself. I live an hour away down south in Souderton so I am in this area very often. I must say...I am very impressed with the Country Junction. There was plenty of parking and the building just looks cool. I was even more impressed on the inside! The shopping carts were all wiped down frequently and they had temperature checks to allow entry. Right off the bat I noticed they had an Asher's candy stand. We live 2 minutes from the Asher's factory in Franconia PA but we still had to get some candy on the way out!! The store acted like a sort of maze where you had to follow "the yellow brick road" around the store...a neat touch. Speaking of the Wizard of Oz, they had some statues and replicas from the film around the store in addition to many other near statues that I HAD to get pictures with. That made for a fun time! They had a pet section (both with actual animals and food), they had home décor for the fall/holidays, they had food, toys, gifts, novelties and even a restaurant and arcade too! We didn't get to walk around the last two but they looked neat! They even had an Ace hardware with items we needed! The registers leave you where you began bringing everything full circle. I also hear they have a annual Great Pocono Pumpkin Festival where you will find hay rides, pumpkins and the like. Apparently I was here when I was very young but I dont remember it (today felt like the actual first time). This would be neat to attend one day! Overall, it was a very fun day trip to the Country Junction. Bad prodects and too many people in line and barn door food is good but need more seats

We visited this store some years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately they had a fire and the store burned down. We were very pleased to see the beautiful new store that was rebuilt. Two days ago, we made the trip out there. We were excited to see the store and figured it was better than ever!! Looked great from the outside........... BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!! I promise you that positive reviews are old, prior to the fire. THERE IS NOTHING YOU WILL WANT TO SEE OR BUY HERE. The store itself is filthy dirty.............and the merchandise is all cheap crap made in china that you can buy in most dollar stores. If it's in the dollar store for a buck, it's in this store for 5 bucks!! My wife and I were hysterical over the prices, plus there was nothing unique. Just common chinese garbage that is insanely over priced. You've been warned!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR GAS!!! I will bet this place goes out of business in a year!! read more
