Food is sort of a hit & miss thing. One night good & next time terrible. As far as ambiance, the woman at the cash register is constantly watching people at salad bar. She's not very friendly at the cash register either. They need someone to come and clean the salad bar up in between visits because it gets pretty nasty after a while. read more

This is one of our favorite Sulligent restaurants. It is only open Wednesday through Sunday nights. It reminds me of the old steakhouses my family used to frequent in the 1970s. The steaks are very tasty. My husband loves to get the grilled catfish, which is his favorite grilled catfish anywhere--we think it takes on some of the steak flavor where everything is grilled over an open flame. We like the fried chicken tenders. We have also had the grilled chicken, grilled shrimp, grilled pork chops, all of which are good. Pretty much anything grilled here is a winner. Most of the meals are offered with the salad bar, which has a lot of good options to choose from. It is one trip only, not all you can eat. Also offered on most meals is a choice between a baked potato or french fries (usually steak fries), and sometimes sweet potatoes. Some of the seafood meals come with coleslaw and hushpuppies, both of which are good. The other meals come with a piece of yummy buttered Texas toast. There are a number of desserts to choose from as well. Our favorite is the hot fudge cake. Lemon meringue pie and banana pudding are also very popular. I hate to rate it low because this is a family owned place and it seems to be well known for people who live in Sulligent. Honestly, it was bad all around. First, we had seven people order steak and they were all over cooked. Everyone ordered medium rare and they were easily medium well. That is just a cardinal sin for a steak place. The rib-eyes were very thin and poorly seasoned which didn't help. The quality of the rib-eye is very suspect. It is very fatty and tough, even by rib-eye standards. I think it is really a thin slice of sirloin if I had to guess. Drinking Coke or tea with steak is gross and those are your choices here. No beer or wine. The waitress came by maybe twice, most of the time my glass was empty. She was not pleasant and seemed to be responsible for too many tables. They let you go to the salad bar only one time. The fried pickles are not breaded all around. They still have their Christmas decorations up in March. It shares a parking lot with what looks like a methadone motel. The salad dressings are unlabeled, four of them look like ranch. The worst of all, going to pay our $90 dollar bill at the register, only to be told they don't take credit cards like it's 1979.
